Quote-O'-The-Day: Bill Clinton edition

By GottaLaff

Another "oy" moment:
"Suppose you're a voter, and you've got candidate X and candidate Y. Candidate X agrees with you on everything, but you don't think that candidate can deliver on anything at all. Candidate Y you agree with on about half the issues, but he can deliver. Which candidate are you going to vote for?"

-- Bill Clinton, quoted by The Hill, evidently still fighting the Democratic primary election. He quickly backpedaled, saying "This has nothing to do with what's going on now."

I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt here. He had two major surgeries at a not young age. And the surgeries were not that far apart. He is not the same. I've seen this happen to people. We have a regulator in our brain that is our personal censor and keeps us from saying offensive things. When it's working right we are more empathetic to others and more sensitive to nuance. We are more aware of the right way to express a thought so that it is what we mean and is appropriate at the same time.

Bill use to be brilliant at saying the right things. He often is still extremely good. Probably almost all the time. But that regulator in his brain no longer works all the time.

So he just really put his foot in it again. I'm now angry that he gets to speak at the convention. He is too much of a loose cannon.

Dammit, Bill. Do you HAVE to keep ruining your image and reputation?

I'm not even sure what he's trying to talk about, except that I know it somehow has to do with Hillary losing the primary.

Evers, okay, being surrounded by doctors my entire life (Dad and friends), I understand that.

So, if that's the case, he should not have been prominently placed. And if he had to be, out of respect and tact, then keep him away from open mics until his moment at the convention.

And it that isn't possible, hogtie him, drug him, shut him the fuck up.

Thanks, Joe, I'm there.

I agree, laffy. They need to find a way to make him shut it.

An impossible task, it seems.

Bill Clinton KNOWS what he's doing, else why the backpedaling? If he had some sort of mental deficit due to the heart sugeries, he wouldn't have tried to correct himself. It's the same old shit, just a different day for this man. This is exactly how the Clintons work. "I would never say that Barack Obama can't win this thing because he doesn't have any experience whatsoever. Oh, I didn't mean that. Of course, he can win it." That's very Clintonian. And that, my friends, has NEVER changed.
