Palin's mistakes

Newsflash! Grandma Also admits nothing:

In an interview with Human Events, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) was asked about the biggest mistake she made in the 2008 presidential campaign.

Said Palin: "The biggest mistake made was that I could have called more shots on this: the opportunities that were not seized to speak to more Americans via media. I was not allowed to do very many interviews, and the interviews that I did were not necessarily those I would have chosen... But if I would have been in charge, I would have wanted to speak to more reporters because that's how you get your message out to the electorate."

Meanwhile, Washington Whispers notes a mistake Palin made after the campaign: She didn't return two phone calls from former President H.W. Bush.

Perhaps she thought they were prank calls.

Let's break that down. When Grandma Also did speak to the media, she was an inarticulate, blundering sack of ignorance. When she attempted to get out her message, it was one big smear campaign that egged on hate speech, violence, and lies.

The reason the interviews were ones she wouldn't necessarily have chosen was that they weren't all with Fox/sympathizers. As a result, she was either stumped by the simplest of questions, or rambled until her words got so convoluted that she somehow sounded coherent to herself. Nobody else, just herself. Here are a few more details about that Bush 41 call:

...Whispers hears that former President George H.W. Bush is a bit miffed that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin hasn't returned his phone calls of congrats for a good effort in the presidential election. [...] When the subject of Palin came up during their chat, Bush told of twice phoning her office but never receiving a call back. The first message was left at McCain HQ after she was picked to be Sen. John McCain's veep; the second with the governor's office after the election was over. ...[O]ur source says he was clearly perplexed. A Palin aide says the guv didn't get the message, as odd as that sounds.

She fouls up everything she touches, she just can't seem to help herself.

Now imagine her finger on that Big Red Button. That would be one mistake she should never have the opportunity to make.

Obama birth challenge headed to Supreme Court

When the justices of the U.S. Supreme Court meet on Dec. 5th, in their regular private conference to decide which cases to hear, two lawsuits that have captivated a segment of the blogosphere will be up for discussion.

Both urge the court to consider claims that President-elect Obama is not qualified to be president, because he is not a natural-born American citizen.

Persistent concerns about the qualifications of both major party candidates rank among the oddest aspects of 2008's historic campaign.

Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution provides that "No person except a natural born citizen" is eligible to be president. John McCain's status was questioned because he was born in the Panama Canal Zone and various theories have been advanced to cast doubt on Obama's.

I thought we'd put this idiocy to rest. Apparently not.

But two challengers have pursued their cases to the Supreme Court.

Pennsylvania lawyer Philip Berg claims that the circumstances of Obama's birth are vague and that he may have been born in Kenya. Obama's mother, Berg asserts, later flew to Hawaii to register the birth. [...]

Obama may have been born in the United States [...] but "natural born" status depends on both parents being American citizens. Obama's father was Kenyan.

The justices are unlikely to take up these cases for a host of reasons, not the least of which is the invitation to overturn the results of an election in which more than 66 million Americans voted for Obama. An equally high hurdle is the issue of whether Berg or Donofrio have the legal right to sue claiming a violation of the Constitution. [...]

Federal courts typically reject claims of legal standing based simply on a litigant's status as a voter or taxpayer.

[O]n Oct. 31st, the director of Hawaii's Department of Health issued a statement, proclaiming that he had personally seen and verified that the state has "Sen. Obama's original birth certificate on record," which shows that he was born there.

We have a Muslim, furr'ner, fist-jabbin', boogey man, alien terrorist about to be sworn in as president. And I'm proud to say I voted for him.

I was just talking to my dad about the ludicrous media insistence on perpetuating yet another meaningless story. They have nothing else to talk about, so they've crescendoed into some crazed, manufactured frenzy over the plethora of leaks from the formerly disciplined Obama team! Yes, leaks!! And more leaks!!! Leaks, do you hear me, leaks!!

Good god, who's doing the leaking? Hillary? Her team?? The Hill??? Could it be that Obama's gang has lost all control?! He-e-elp! The world is coming to an end! Somebody tell us it's all gonna be okay! Who will finally come forward and-- ?

"No one is frustrated, no one is anguished. Any time you involve large numbers of people in something like this, there's gonna be leaks. And there's a fanaticism almost among the news media to break the big story."

Whew! What a relief. We've avoided Armegeddon. We can all go shopping again (well, except for that whole lousy economy thing).

Attention wingnuts: Obama's Birth Certificate Verified By State

HONOLULU -- The state's Department of Health director on Friday released a statement verifying the legitimacy of Sen. Barack Obama birth certificate. The state has received multiple requests for a copy of Obama's birth certificate.

State law does not allow officials to release the birth certificate of a person to someone outside of the family.

There were rumors that Obama was born in Kenya, where his father is from. The Constitution requires that the president be a natural born citizen of the U.S. [...]

Fukino said she and the registrar of vital statistics, Alvin Onaka, have personally verified that the health department holds Obama's original birth certificate.

"Therefore, I as Director of Health for the State of Hawaii, along with the Registrar of Vital Statistics who has statutory authority to oversee and maintain these type of vital records, have personally seen and verified that the Hawaii State Department of Health has Sen. Obama's original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures," Fukino said.

Fukino said that no state official, including Gov. Linda Lingle, ever instructed that Obama's certificate be handled differently from any other.

Some Obama critics claim he was not born in the United States.

Multiple lawsuits were filed to try and force Obama to provide proof of citizenship. Earlier Friday, a southwest Ohio magistrate rejected a challenge to Obama's U.S. citizenship. Judges in Seattle and Philadelphia recently dismissed similar suits.

Chris Matthews still pushing the rift

I'm trying to avoid talking about this, but it's in my face, your face, everyone's face.

Keith Olbermann is agreeing with Chris Matthews: There is still a PUMA problem. I really wish they'd stop perpetuating this nonsense.

Tweety: "Will this marriage make it?" Oy. "Will they serve a cause greater than themselves?"

This convention has been all about Hillary. That wasn't necessary. Had the media not jammed it down our throats, we'd have a different perception than what they've forced on us.

If they would talk up Obama, instead of fretting over Hillary, we could concentrate on who is really running for president.

They are creating this "level of anxiety" to which they keep referring. It's relentless.
