Hawaii lawmakers pass bill to ignore 'birthers'

By GottaLaff

http://freerangetalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/ie2wdh.jpg.gif

Can Congress pass the same bill, please? Maybe just an "Ignore Orly Taitz" bill:

Hawaii legislators have passed a measure allowing a state agency to ignore repeated requests from a person or organization for President Barack Obama's birth certificate.

The measure approved Tuesday by the state Legislature would carve an exemption in the state's public records law and allow officials to ignore all kinds of duplicative requests, including those for Obama's birth certificate.

They get between ten and twenty e-mails a week demanding verification of this:

Yes, that would be his birth certificate that has been displayed for all to see for some time now, but apparently it wasn't enough.

Neither was this:

This photo provided by the Honolulu Advertiser shows Obama's birth announcement, center, in the Aug. 13, 1961 edition of the paper. (AP Photo/The Honolulu Advertiser)

But all that was wasted on the birthers. They go on believing what they want to believe, because Barack Obama has a funny name and a darker skin color. And that's what this is all about.

H/t: I forgot, sorry!

Hawaii bill would shun Obama birth certificate requests

All manner of birther teeth gnashing to commence- 3... 2... 1!! Let the wailing begin!

HONOLULU -- Hawaii lawmakers are moving closer to passing a measure allowing the state to ignore repeated requests for President Barack Obama's birth certificate.

A conference committee unanimously voted Tuesday to advance the bill to final votes in the House and Senate.

The proposal allows state government agencies not to respond to follow-up requests for information if they determine that the subsequent request is duplicative or substantially similar to a previous request.

The bill is aimed at so-called "birthers," who claim Obama is ineligible to be president. They say he was actually born outside the United States, and therefore doesn't meet a constitutional requirement for being president.
It must be pretty damn bad if they have to pass a law.

Hawaii gets persistent requests for Obama birth certificate - State DOH still gets up to 50 requests a month for certificate

What a waste of time and money. Dumbasses.

More than a year after his historic election, requests for President Obama's birth certificate continue to pour into the state's understaffed Health Department from people on the Mainland who refuse to believe he was born in Honolulu in 1961.

In an attempt to stem the flow of requests, the agency recently set up a special page on its Web site devoted to the issue of Obama's birth certificate and who is eligible to get the records.

But the requests for the president's birth certificate keeping coming at a rate of 40 to 50 a month, according to Health Department spokeswoman Janice Okubo, who has been handling the requests since Obama became a serious presidential candidate in 2008.

"They're spurred on by these 'birther' blogs who direct them to bombard the Health Department even though they have no legitimate right to the information," Okubo said.

"They've been misled to believe that the state of Hawai'i gives out birth information to anyone who requests it, but really our law protects birth information. We're entrusted with protecting people's vital records. To open them up would mean opening them up to identity theft and other types of concerns."

State law allows birth certificates to be issued to family members, legal guard- ians, representatives of a person's estate, or by court order or other legal purposes.

Okubo said those who have been requesting Obama's birth certificate don't meet the legal standards.

(snip)

When Okubo told one writer they did not have a right to Obama's birth certificate because they were not related to the president, the person wrote back saying they, indeed, had a common ancestor.

"They said they have a tangible right to his birth certificate because they're descended from Adam," Okubo said, referring to the biblical figure. "We told them they need to provide some type of legal documentation."
Now doesn't that explain it all. Oh, and here is the special page they had to set up for all the dumbass birthers.

VIDEO of presser + TV station strips references to Rush Limbaugh's back pain meds

By GottaLaff

Aren't screen grabs fun? They do all kinds of things, like, well, documenting items that disappear from news reports:

Oddly, the link leads to a piece that now says nothing about Boss Limpdong's med guzzling:
Radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh said he's fine and leaving the hospital with plans to return to work on Wednesday. The combative conservative said tests show nothing wrong after he was hospitalized with chest pains.

He remained at a hospital in Hawaii Thursday night, a day after being admitted for chest pains.

According to his radio program, Limbaugh underwent a complete examination on Thursday that gave doctors more information about his condition. [...]

Doctors said there were no plans for a news conference from the hospital or Limbaugh on Thursday. [...]

Citing privacy issues, doctors at Queens Medical Center won't talk specifically about Limbaugh's conditions.
And by "no plans for a news conference from the hospital or Limbaugh on Thursday", they must have meant Friday was a go.

I sure hope Boss's back is okay now. No telling what kinds of chest painy side effects those pesky meds could produce.

More references to the back pain medication here. And here:
A 911 call was made from the Kahala Hotel and Resort Wednesday afternoon and paramedics responded at 2:42 p.m. Hawaiian Time - 7:42 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. A source tells KITV:

Limbaugh was sitting in a chair in his ninth-floor hotel room at the Kahala when emergency crews arrived... He told medical crews that he was taking medication for a back problem. [...]

The conservative radio host, who is in Hawaii the same time as powerful left wingers Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi, hadn't, to the public's knowledge, been hospitalized since 2003, when he underwent treatment for an addiction to painkillers. His chronic back problems were reportedly at the root of the addiction.
According to rawls, who tipped me to this, the painkiller story was "whitewashed except on Google. The lawyers may have attacked."

UPDATE: On CNN just now, Ed Henry said he asked Boss about those back pain meds. Rush told him he didn't take any pain killers, but that he was on Prednisone, a synthetic corticosteroid drug that is particularly effective as an immunosuppressant, and affects virtually all of the immune system. It is used to treat certain inflammatory diseases and (at higher doses) cancers, but has significant adverse effects. It is usually taken orally but can be delivered by intramuscular injection or intravenous injection. It has a mainly glucocorticoid effect. Prednisone is a prodrug that is converted by the liver into prednisolone, which is the active drug and also a steroid.

So those earlier reports were wrong?

Rush Limbaugh's Big Fat News Conference from Hawaii... Obama's home state

By GottaLaff

Chest-pained Boss Limpdong finds it necessary to open his big, oversized, lying, festering mouth for whatever reason. The presser is being held at the hospital.

Via a tweet by CNN's Ed Henry:
Limbaugh was going to sit but will now stand at podium
I guess he realized a chair couldn't hold him and his enormous, oozing spillover.
Limbaugh will make statement but does not plan to take questions
Answering questions under pressure might, you know, give him a heart attack.

Liveblog... We just get audio:
It's been a humbling experience. I never had a heart attack... pain like nothing I'd ever experienced before. I called security staff, underwent extensive tests. Pain gone in half hour. Had angiogram, they found nothing.

It was a blessing. No arterial, coronary disease whatsoever. Stayed for observation. Don't know what caused the pain. I'm almost 59. Don't mess with it, any time you have chest pain, turn it over to professionals [Laffy Note: Yeah, if you have insurance coverage].

I don't think there's one thing wrong with the health care system. I got nothing special, no special treatment. The care was confidence inspiring... extensive, comfortable. The treatment I received here was the best. The nurses, aides have made this stay almost like a hotel.

I wish I knew what it was. Maybe a spasm in an artery. It's a blessing in disguise that it happened, because it might prepare you for the eventuality that you are getting older, not as invincible.

Thank you for accepting no questions, because you'd ask questions I don't want to answer in this setting... political. I'm thankful to be an American having this thing happen to me.

Friend of Obama hurt in Hawaii

Just now on MSNBC they said that POTUS cut his golfing short to go back to the compound due to a friend being injured. They said it is not a family member and that there are police and an ambulance at the home they are staying at. I'll follow up when I get more.

ADDED-

HONOLULU, Hawaii (CNN) - A friend of President Barack Obama's family received minor injuries during the first family's Christmas vacation in Hawaii on Monday, White House aides said.

Aides said no one from the first family was hurt in the incident, details of which were not immediately available. But the incident created a stir when several police vehicles and an ambulance were called to the rental home on the island of Oahu, where the president and his family are staying.

No Ho for Bo (DON Ho)

By GottaLaff

http://www.jackandjillpolitics.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/bo-obama.jpg

Aww, no luaus for BObama:
White House officials confirmed that the Obamas' Portuguese water dog stayed behind when Marine One departed the White House on Christmas Eve. Hawaii has strict quarantine policies, requiring 120 days of pet isolation to contain rabies. And a 10-hour flight could test the discipline of any young dog. So Bo will be boarded until the family returns in early January.
So much for no dog left behind.

Lei down, Bo. Stay. Good poi.

Woman allegedly menaced first lady

Don't like that she had info that should have been better hid, but she doesn't sound like she would be that stable of a threat. Glad they got her before the Obamas got there for vacation though.

Secret Service agents over the weekend arrested a woman at a Kane'ohe address for allegedly threatening to kill first lady Michelle Obama.

The woman, Kristy Lee Roshia, has a long history of making threatening and rambling telephone calls to the Secret Service office in Boston, according to an affidavit filed today in federal court here.

On Nov. 9, the Boston Secret Service office received a letter from Roshia, mailed from Hawai'i and carrying a return address on Hamakua Drive in Kailua, that contained numerous photographs of Roshia along with poems and "rambling love letters" to a nonexistent Secret Service agent, the sworn affidavit said.

The following day, Roshia called the Boston office and told a receptionist "I will kill Michelle Obama" and "I will kill Marines," according to the affidavit, signed by Secret Service Special Agent John Woodruff.

(snip)

On Dec. 19, Woodruff and two other agents interviewed Roshia at a Kane'ohe Bay Drive residential address. She said she had traveled to Hawai'i in September "to protect Obama" and since then has been "working the golf course at the Marine Base," according to the affidavit.

She told the agents that she knew "the exact location" where President Obama and his family will stay during their Christmas vacation here, according to the affidavit.

That information was "consistent" with the itinerary of the Obama family at the Secret Service office here, Woodruff wrote.

President Obama doesn't get Hawaiin park named after him

This is actually more newsworthy than if it was. Wow Hawaii.

Some parkgoers at Magic Island Beach Park last night gave a thumbs-down to a plan to rename the 30-acre Magic Island section of Ala Moana Beach Park after Honolulu-born President Obama.

Formally known as 'Ainamoana Beach Park, Mayor Mufi Hannemann wants to rename the peninsula President Barack Obama Beach Park. Ala Moana Beach Park would keep its name.

"You want my honest opinion? I think it's stupid," said Kevin Calai, 40, a Kane'ohe laborer. "Magic Island's always been Magic Island. What significance is it going to be as Barack Obama Beach Park? Why change what doesn't need to be changed?"

Calai said he voted for Obama, and could see the name change proposed down the line.

(snip)

Darryl Pang, 48, an 'Aiea information technology worker, said Magic Island has too much significance and history to go through a name change. He recalled attending 50th State Fairs as a youth.

"It just wouldn't be the same," Pang said. "I have no problem with Obama. Personally, I like the guy."

Shay Marcus, a 45-year-old Makiki food and beverage worker, said renaming the park after Obama would be "a terrible idea."

"He's president, but I don't know if he deserves that honor yet," Marcus said. "If he's successful ... or if he passes unexpectedly, then maybe as some kind of tribute. Because he's still in office, that's kind of corn-doggish."
What the hell is "corn-doggish"?
