Mort Zuckerman Considers Senate Bid

Zuckerman and McLaughlin have totally turned the McLaughlin Group into a half hour of PUMA style Obama bashing. Hopefully New York rejects another millionaire trying to buy a seat. Via Taegan-
Mort Zuckerman, real estate tycoon and publisher of The Daily News, is considering a run against Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), the New York Times reports.

Zuckerman regards Gillibrand "as vulnerable to a challenge and is convinced that, at a time of economic tumult and political unrest, his background as an outsider to government, and his record as a businessman, will appeal to the state's electorate."

He is also conducting a poll testing his viability.

Heard the rumor about Leon Panetta's "daughter" Linda and Hugo Chavez?

By GottaLaff

Hugo Chavez, Linda Penetta, Daniel Ortega

Daniel Ortega, Hugo Chavez, Linda Panetta

Apparently, the photo and caption above are making the rounds, and the Linda Panetta in it is being falsely i.d.'d as Leon Panetta's daughter. The Panettas, you know, have been pallin' around with a bad crowd. Wrong. Wronger than wrong, dead wrong. Via PUMA:
Linda Panetta- Anti-Us Agitator, Leon Panetta- CIA Director Nominee… Is there anything wrong with this picture?

In it, we stated that Leon was Linda’s father, we however had the following disclaimer as well:

CAVEAT: Based on the reasearch we’ve done, it seems Linda is the daughter of Leon. She’s definitely given speaking engagements using that family history, there is however some controversy about her parentage, so till it’s conclusively proven that Leon is her father, take this one with a grain of salt.

Well, at this point in time , we can conclusively state that Linda is NOT Leon’s daughter: Accuracy In Media

But reached by telephone in Philadelphia, Linda Panetta told Accuracy in Media that while she admires Leon Panetta and that there may be a distant family connection somewhere, he is not her father and that she has never even met him. “Not only am I not his daughter but unfortunately I have not had the pleasure of meeting this man who has done amazing work in his lifetime,” she said. “He and my father may have been second cousins,” she acknowledged, but under no circumstances is he her father.

Despite charges or information to the contrary, she has never claimed to be his daughter. She explained, “God rest my Dad’s soul. He was an incredible individual as well. I would never in my lifetime claim to be anybody’s daughter but my father’s.

Baseless rumors are so easily squelched, so why even start them?

Chris Matthews still pushing the rift

By GottaLaff

I'm trying to avoid talking about this, but it's in my face, your face, everyone's face.

Keith Olbermann is agreeing with Chris Matthews: There is still a PUMA problem. I really wish they'd stop perpetuating this nonsense.

Tweety: "Will this marriage make it?" Oy. "Will they serve a cause greater than themselves?"

This convention has been all about Hillary. That wasn't necessary. Had the media not jammed it down our throats, we'd have a different perception than what they've forced on us.

If they would talk up Obama, instead of fretting over Hillary, we could concentrate on who is really running for president.

They are creating this "level of anxiety" to which they keep referring. It's relentless.

Quote-O'-The-Day: Bill Clinton edition

Another "oy" moment:
"Suppose you're a voter, and you've got candidate X and candidate Y. Candidate X agrees with you on everything, but you don't think that candidate can deliver on anything at all. Candidate Y you agree with on about half the issues, but he can deliver. Which candidate are you going to vote for?"

-- Bill Clinton, quoted by The Hill, evidently still fighting the Democratic primary election. He quickly backpedaled, saying "This has nothing to do with what's going on now."

Loretta Sanchez On MSNBC

Jeebus, this chick gives women a bad name. She's on with Abrams screeching about how Obama hasn't called personally and asked for her vote. Get the poop over yourself lady.

IMHO, that is what's wrong with 99% of the HRC dead enders**, they're just too into themselves and their own importance. The man is running for freakin' President of the United States and you want him to call you personally and kiss your ass? You keep waiting for that call there hon.

**1 percent are racist pigs.

Very Disturbing

Stirring the pot

By GottaLaff

Re: My post last night, Wolf Blitzer is doing his level best to create something out of nothing. He's pushing and pushing to get [someone get me his name, I missed it] to admit that the Hillary fans, or PUMAs*, will be a problem at the Democratic convention. And that would make for great ratings for CNN:

"But be honest, if you had your way, you wouldn't have the roll call."

Shallow Thoughts: PUMAs, do you really want a President McCain?

By GottaLaff

No, there will be no vice president Clinton. So how many times today must we hear the talking heads ramble on about how those self-destructive Hillary die-hards are so, so, so sputtery spitty mad that they'll vote in a guy who would be another embarrassingly disastrous president?

These questions and more are yours for only $19.95. Call direct, call collect. We take Visa, MasterCard and spare change.

That last part was just me making fun of myself. Sleep deprivation. It's what's for dinner!

UPDATE: Apparently, not everyone knows what PUMAs are. They are the Hillary supporters who won't give up: Party Unity My Ass.

Former Clinton backer for McCain: "Party unity my a--"

By GottaLaff

Somebody please explain to me how someone who believed in what Hillary Clinton stands for can pivot and support John Sidney McLobbyPants' platform. ... I'm waiting ... Anybody? ... I didn't think so.

[Will] Bower wanted Hillary Clinton to win the Democratic nomination and move back into the home she left in January 1993.

After a bitter primary battle Clinton conceded the race to Barack Obama last week urging her supporters to back her rival. Bower heard the message, but he is not going to follow it. Instead, he said in an interview he plans to vote for Republican John McCain and has formed “Party Unity My A–,” otherwise known as PUMA to express his frustration at the Democratic Party.

"Party Unity My A--"... now there's a name that should catch on with the Family Values crowd.

The initiative he said is “to unite voters who don't want Barack Obama as president.”

The 36 year-old Washington resident said his anger is not just directed at Obama, but the party as a whole.

How constructive. Instead of trying to correct what he considers to be mistakes, Bower will turn to the party that brought us war, recession, and corruption. Yeah, that's a big improvement over Hillary Clinton's and/or Barack Obama's policies. Apparently, the DNC's Florida/Michigan decisions are what pushed him over the edge.

The group is predominantly comprised of female Clinton supporters, said Bower. The Clinton-turned-McCain supporter said he has also helped launch the “Just Say No Deal,” a nationwide coalition he estimated has two million voters who are also vowing to ‘say no’ to the Illinois senator come November.

Bower acknowledged Obama will be crowned the Democratic nominee at the party’s August convention, but said he holds out hope that the GOP will uncover potentially harmful information between now and then. At that time, “the party might be desperate for another candidate," he said.

Nothing more productive than hoping to smear one candidate in the hopes that the party will become desperate enough to look for another one who (if Bower's plan were to work) would lack the necessary time and resources to succeed. Now I see why this guy is voting Republican. He thinks just like them.
