VIDEO: I'm a Sick Puppy, Too. Love, Keith & Rachel

By GottaLaff

Allow me to refresh your memories with this classic:

Don'tcha love it when a Bush makes an ass of himself and the good guys turn the tables and use it to show their support?

This shirt was made specifically for my Twitter pal, d_klein3. Think it would sell?

VIDEO: Maddow and Olbermann respond to Bush Sr.'s "sick puppy" namecalling

By GottaLaff

Down thread I posted about Rachel Maddow's squaring off with a piddly bowl of slime named Tim Phillips, wiping the floor with what was left of his facade. That took skill, knowledge, and more self-restraint than I could scrape up in a year.

But according to Bush 41, Rachel (and Keith Olbermann) is a "sick puppy". Why? Because she knows how to express herself and isn't afraid to do it publicly, in the very faces of those she calls out.

Of course, had Rachel had the opportunity to interview Boy Georgie directly, she most likely wouldn't have had to say a whole lot. 43 pretty much dug himself into a hole every time he opened his yap, with no help from anyone.

But Boy 43 had eight years at the controls of this country, and drove it straight into the ground. I guess 41 doesn't want anyone to mention that out loud. Instead, we should all acquiesce to the reckless, misguided whims of the Tim Phillipses, Dickless McHeartStents, and Boy Georgies of the world.

Dissent is unAmerican.

Note to 41: Intelligent discourse and healthy disagreement are different than vitriolic screed.

Bush 41 will not attend Kennedy service

By GottaLaff

http://www.donkeydish.com/images/gallery/george-bush-sr_350x512.jpg

To quote Dana Carvey, "Not g'a' do it, not g'a' do it." So 41 can find it in himself to jump out of an airplane but he can't show up for Uncle Teddy's funeral?
Former President George H.W. Bush will not attend Ted Kennedy's private funeral mass in Boston on Saturday, his spokesman Jim McGrath told CNN.

McGrath said the 41st president spoke to Kennedy's wife Vicki and his niece Caroline to let them know.

I admit, I have no idea why he can't make it. I've searched, and haven't found anything else on it yet. It could be very legit. Anyone?

Nix on Nixon: Find 'attractive' women, "abortion is necessary"

By GottaLaff

http://images.politico.com/global/news/090428_nixon_ap_297.jpg

What a guy:
"There are times when an abortion is necessary. I know that. When you have a black and a white. Or a rape."

-- President Nixon, in newly-released tapes of Oval Office conversations.
Yes, by all means, equate a black/white relationship with rape. How American of you, Dick.

More via CNN:
President Richard Nixon believed one way to shore up the GOP in 1973 was by recruiting "attractive" women, but not because he was "for women," according to audio tapes released Tuesday.

In February of 1973, President Nixon called future president and then-Republican National Committee chairman George H.W. Bush, and recounted a recent visit to the South Carolina state legislature.

"I noticed a couple of very attractive women, both of them Republicans, in the legislature," Nixon told Bush. "I want you to be sure to emphasize to our people, God, let's look for some… Understand, I don't do it because I'm for women, but I'm doing it because I think maybe a woman might win someplace where a man might not… So have you got that in mind?"

Bush replies, "I'll certainly keep it in mind."

And then he went home to Barbara.

Bush on Bush

By GottaLaff

http://www.michaeltotten.com/archives/images/Jeb%20Bush.JPG
I'll spare you the bulk of 41's quote, lauding his little Georgie, then whining about how mean everyone was to him. Waaah! Okay, let's dry those crybaby tears and get right to Jeb, the "good" son:
On the prospects of family members running for office:

"Maybe Jeb someday. I want to see Jeb in there." George P. Bush, Jeb's son, "wants to do something. I think he might."
If there is ever another member of that horrid family in the White House, I'll pack up and move in with my pal Kirsten up in Canada.

Oh, and the title wasn't mine. It should have been, though, considering the polysemy. (That is the first and only time I will ever type that word, if I even used it correctly)

Bush 41, Reagan Presidential Files To Be Released

By GottaLaff

http://www.ilovethe80s.com/georgebush.jpg
Check out the bolded part:
The National Archive announced today that more than 254,000 pages of presidential records will be available for the public to look at beginning next Monday at the Reagan library in Simi Valley, CA and the GWHB library in Houston, Texas. The archive notes that these records "were still pending with the George W. Bush Administration as of January 20, 2009," took only two months to clear the review process established by President Obama's executive order 13849. Among the records include 13,000 pages of declassified memos on foreign policy topics as well as many presidential briefings.
So what won't/will we discover?

George Bush personally passes the hat to fund his own library

By GottaLaff

Who could have ever imagined that Bush would have trouble raising money for his own very liberry? And ironically, they're blaming the economy... that Bush created:
"It's a bad environment," says one [friend]. Bush is taking no chances: He's making donor calls himself, and even his dad, the 41st president, is helping out, as are former aides like Karl Rove. In the future, say associates, look for Bush to host fundraising events in order to meet a goal of completing construction in 2013. But for now, "he's laying low," says one.
Yes, the former chimp-in-chief himself is putting the fun back in fundraising. And what a great cause. Who wouldn't want to visit Georgie's Presidential Fun House?

But uh-oh! It'll take at least ten, maybe fifteen bucks to cover the costs of crayons, coloring books, non-toxic black redacting markers, and pretzels. Of course, with some real effort, a little luck, and just a touch of arm-twisting, Junior, Rover, and Daddy should be able to scrape up enough pennies.

Although one never knows-- He may end up using the cash to pay bail.

Like father, like son, like father: "Go back to your Google!"

By GottaLaff

41, 43, and Bar
If you ever questioned, even for a moment, that the apple fell far from the tree:
"No! You can go back to your, what do you call it, your Google, and you figure out all that."

-- Former President George H.W. Bush, in a Fox News interview, when asked if he would elaborate on some of his son's failures as president.
"You start to pity him until you remember how vast the wreckage is."

VIDEO: 41 hopes for a President Jeb

Sorry, 41, but this ain't gonna happen for a very long time, as you point out:

“I mean, right now is probably a bad time. We’ve had enough Bushs in there.”
Apparently, understatement is his strong suit.

The Bush pardons: On Donor, on Blitzen! edition

By GottaLaff

In another post, I listed the most recent Bush pardonees. Now RealityChex clarifies:
Surprise! Not all of Bush's pardons were acts of altruism. The New York Daily News zeroes in on the pardon of one Isaac Toussie, an infamous real estate developer who scammed hundreds of minority homebuyers. Why pardon Toussie? His father gave $28,500 to the Republican party in April.
He's all heart, that Georgie.

Palin's mistakes

By GottaLaff

Newsflash! Grandma Also admits nothing:
In an interview with Human Events, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) was asked about the biggest mistake she made in the 2008 presidential campaign.

Said Palin: "The biggest mistake made was that I could have called more shots on this: the opportunities that were not seized to speak to more Americans via media. I was not allowed to do very many interviews, and the interviews that I did were not necessarily those I would have chosen... But if I would have been in charge, I would have wanted to speak to more reporters because that's how you get your message out to the electorate."

Meanwhile, Washington Whispers notes a mistake Palin made after the campaign: She didn't return two phone calls from former President H.W. Bush.
Perhaps she thought they were prank calls.
Let's break that down. When Grandma Also did speak to the media, she was an inarticulate, blundering sack of ignorance. When she attempted to get out her message, it was one big smear campaign that egged on hate speech, violence, and lies.

The reason the interviews were ones she wouldn't necessarily have chosen was that they weren't all with Fox/sympathizers. As a result, she was either stumped by the simplest of questions, or rambled until her words got so convoluted that she somehow sounded coherent to herself. Nobody else, just herself. See: Fey, Tina.

Here are a few more details about that Bush 41 call:
...Whispers hears that former President George H.W. Bush is a bit miffed that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin hasn't returned his phone calls of congrats for a good effort in the presidential election. [...] When the subject of Palin came up during their chat, Bush told of twice phoning her office but never receiving a call back. The first message was left at McCain HQ after she was picked to be Sen. John McCain's veep; the second with the governor's office after the election was over. ...[O]ur source says he was clearly perplexed. A Palin aide says the guv didn't get the message, as odd as that sounds.
She fouls up everything she touches, she just can't seem to help herself.

Now imagine her finger on that Big Red Button. That would be one mistake she should never have the opportunity to make.

Quote of the Day

No link round up today, I opened my RSS and had over 3k unread items, 2k of them critical of HRC's speech. I couldn't do that to myself.

"Look, I owe the American people an apology. If I had beaten the old man you'd of never heard of the kid and you wouldn't be in this mess. So it's all my fault and I feel that very, very strongly. So this is an important election for us. Let me tell 'ya."

-- Former Massachusetts Gov. Michael Dukakis, in an interview with CBS News.
