With re to POW, what kind of care did McCain receive when a POW in Vietnam? I suspect it was exceptionally good care because when he returned to the U.S. after 5 years he was like a "new" man. His first wife said that John thought he was 25 years old and wanted to make up for list time. So John left his wife to chase women like he did when at the U.S.Naval Academy. There's a lot of us guys in our 40-50's who would like to get that Vietnamese care.
Anon, that was a fairly fucked up comment. I get what you're aiming for, but what you hit ended up being a low-class cheap shot. Despite what you think of the man now, he was tortured while a prisoner of war. I don't think there is any conceivable way that one can make light of his level of care while in captivity.
I agree with ya, Clancy. But how do you reconcile the fact that McCain has turned around and currently embraced Bush's "torture plan"? In other words, it was so bad and so evil for McCain while he was the victim of torture, but it's fine with McCain NOW so long as he (McCain) is the one comitting the acts of torture on another human being.
I've been kicking this around in my head for a long time, and I can't make it okay no matter how I look at it. It represents a huge, fundamental gap of honor in McCain's character, at least, in my humble opinion.
You all might not like this comment but I am going to say it anyway. After being a POW for 5 years and enduring torture all that time - I question his mental state. Did he come out of that prison unscathed mentally? I still get the feeling that he is still in the war mindset, and lives and breathes war. Has his medical records been checked? Has he experienced any mental problems after being a POW for 5 years? Any at all? If the answer to that is NO then I feel that is not true. An extreme stress like that has got to stay with you for the rest of your life.

ROTFLMAO, now I have to clean my monitor.
BTW, Nightline will be airing an interview with Obama from 2004 tonight showing he was RIGHT all along.

It looks like McCain will have Minneapolis all to himself. Bush might be trying to back out of going to the RNC, using Gustav as an excuse:

Anon, I totally agree with you. We know that spending time in solitary confinement makes people crazy.
If the navy didn't think McCain was qualified to be an admiral, he's not qualified to be president of the USA.
