Palin: Waaaah!

By GottaLaff

Apparently, those pro-Palin interviews that we posted yesterday are a big misleading sham. The doggone media are lookin' to do Grandma Grizzly in, see, and we bloggers also too keep pushin' rumors like nobody's business, see.

All that talkin' Grandma's been doin' has all been edited and shuffled and designed to turn the world against her.

That sounds awfully familiar. I could have sworn she said that very same thing back in the day of the Katie Couric interviews and the Charles Gibson interviews. Now why would I make a connection like that? Oh, I know why... because she did.
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s office accused the media Friday of habitually taking her remarks out of context “to create adversarial situations,” and of pursuing “erroneous and often outrageous leads on a variety of non-issues.
Gee, that never happened to Barack Obama, and it was never due to any malicious rumor that Grandma pushed.

The statement also charged that some members of the media, including independent bloggers and the Atlantic, were continuing “to give credence to the sensational allegation that the governor’s child, Trig, is not hers.

“As a public official, I expect criticism and I expect to be held accountable for how I govern,” Palin said in a statement released by her office Friday. “But the personal, salacious nature of recent reporting, and often the refusal of the media to correct obvious mistakes, unfortunately discredits too many in journalism today, making it difficult for many Americans to believe what they see in the media.”

The day Grandma's held accountable for anything is the day BushCo will... be held accountable for anything.

And she says "salacious" as if it's a bad thing.

The governor also said press coverage had distorted her recent remarks about aspiring New York senator Caroline Kennedy. “I was not commenting at all on Caroline Kennedy as a prospective U.S. senator, but rather on the seemingly arbitrary ways in which news organizations determine the level and kind of scrutiny given to those who aspire to public office,” she said. “In fact, I consider Ms. Kennedy qualified and experienced, and she could serve New York well.”

Palin said, “It’s going to be interesting to see how that plays out and I think that as we watch that we will perhaps be able to prove that there is a class issue here also that was such a factor in the scrutiny of my candidacy versus, say, the scrutiny of what her candidacy may be.”

Well, Granny, I'd like to expand on that "class issue" remark you made. You're right. There is a class issue, and here it is: You don't have any.

To add more ammunition to our growing stash of sound bites, Grandma kicked up a fuss about accusations about her future son-in-law.

Palin’s office also charged that reporters were unfairly scrutinizing the governor and her family. “Just this week, false stories in the media surfaced alleging improper influence by the Palin administration or the governor herself,” they said in the Friday statement, pointing to a report by an Alaska paper on union charges that her administration had delayed serving an arrest warrant on the mother of Levi Johnston, fiance of Bristol Palin. Union officials later changed the substance of those allegations considerably.
If anyone endured false rumors and smears (again, many fueled by Palin herself) in the past year, it's been Obama. He handled them with grace, poise, and the truth. If Palin is nail-biting herself into a self-pitying frenzy and whining and battling the media over this stuff, she is even more inept than she's already shown herself to be.

As I've said often and loudly, Palin is Bush III... in heels*.

Comedy Binky Palin's Big Day

By GottaLaff

It's an addiction. My inner stand-up comic is hooked. I can't stop suckin' on my Palin comedy binky.

Today, for whatever reason, Comedy Binky Palin was allowed to speak, and even give her version of a press conference. Her very first press conference! Where the press could ask her questions, and she would answer them! Questions! Answers! Really! Think of the possibilities!

Let's take a peekaroony at how she held up against the throng of salivating journalists who were virtually climbing all over each other to get a few answers:

No, that blank space isn't an example of my typically inferior typing skills. CB Palin took a total of three-- count 'em three-- questions. And then Rick Perry escorted her off the platform.

But that's not important now. What is important is her speech! To other governors! At the GOP governors' event! Where she spoke! Because if there's anything CB hasn't done enough lately, it's run off at the mouth.

I took notes. Here are a few samples of her stunning Palinisms:
"I remember all the young girls at my rallies."
The young girls were mentioned repeatedly. Young girls. Glass ceiling. Young girls. Glass ceiling. Apparently, those young girls are very, very, very important to her.

However.... not important enough to include in the veterans portion of her Big Speech:
"I will remember the veterans and POWs." Then, in the next breath, she referred to them as "these men".
No mention of female veterans.

I guess those young girls didn't count.

But CB redeemed herself. She fell into default mode by-- in addition to the usual annoyingly endless run-on sentences-- paying tribute to... wait for it....
Joe the Plumber.
Quote: People feel comforted by Joe the Plumber. Unquote.

Oh, and Tito the Builder is a hero, too. Lest anyone were to forget. Lest.

Default mode kicked in again when she returned to her gosh'n'golly cadence, droppin' Gs like they were scaldin' hot mooseburgers, in a folksy-fun reference to Charlie Crist. He teased her about callin' him "darlin'". That was too soft and mushy for him. So she shot right back by referring to him as "tough Chuck". Yes, "tough Chuck". Charlie "I got engaged-- to a woman" Crist... is now Tough Chuck.

Next: Lots and lots of references to special needs children. With emphasis. Lots of emphasis. On special needs children. At one point she actually punctuated her special needs run-on with, "Like, alright!!" Like, gutsy, huh?

Then, with a cheery "Annie" arm pump and a "Yep! We are now the minority party, but let's not become the negative party", she proved once again that pallin' around with hypocrisy was A-OK with her.

And finally, by mentioning Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Barney Frank by name, she confirmed how not partisan she is... which, just by the way, was one of her selling points. Bipartisanship.

CB Palin may need her own comedy binky, because, at the risk of sounding like one of my students, she sucks big.
UPDATE: Here's the video of her "press conference":

Here's the video of her speech:

VIDEO: Lying about Barack Obama runs in the McCain family

By GottaLaff

How admirable. Gramm-pa has now gotten his own daughter to lie on his behalf:

Daughter Megan claims NOW endorses her dad.

The McCain camp will say anything to get elected, even if it's not true. Yesterday 10/31/08 wife Cindy and daughter Megan appeared on FOX and Friends. Megan told this whopper, which Gretchen Carlson let go without comment, as it fit perfectly with the talking point they were trying to sell (Sarah Palin is a feminist).

National Organization for Women PAC Endorses Obama-Biden

STATEMENT OF KIM GANDY
Chair, National Organization for Women Political Action Committee (NOW PAC)

September 16, 2008

It is with great enthusiasm that I announce today, on behalf of the nation's oldest and largest women's rights organization, that the National Organization for Women Political Action Committee (NOW PAC) proudly endorses Sen. Barack Obama for President of the United States.

It's so comically easy to disprove these lies. Do they still not get that these new-fangled inventions like YouTube, computers, Tee Vee Machines, radios, and telephones exist? Communication happens, Gramm-pa. Deal.

IWRC* Palin 2012? Gramm-pa McCain's advisor is speechless

By GottaLaff

Via DKos. I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry:

Via CNN:

Blitzer: Republican VP Candidate Sarah Palin now speaking out openly about her intentions in 2012 if - if - she and John McCain were to lose this contest next Tuesday. In an interview with ABC News, Sarah Palin is now saying she would be interested in remaining a serious national political figure going ahead to 2012. She was asked, what happens in 2012 if you lose on Tuesday - do you simply go back to Alaska - Elizabeth Vargas of ABC News asked her - and Palin said this, and I'll read it to you verbatim according to an ABC transcript:

Absolutely not. I think that if I were to give up and wave a white flag of surrender, I think that some of the political shots that we've taken - that that would bring this whole - and I'm not doing this for naught."

And that's a direct quote from Sarah Palin.

Dana Bash follows up with a Republican official's reaction:
Blitzer: Any reaction yet, Dana, from this blunt statement that she would in fact be interested in leading the Republican Party going forward after Tuesday if they lose?

Bash: I just got off the phone, Wolf, with a senior McCain adviser and I read this person the quote and I think it's fair to say that this person was speechless. There was a long pause and I just heard a "huh" on the other end of the phone. I mean, this is certainly not a surprise to anybody who has watched Sarah Palin that she is interested in potentially a future national run. Certainly she is being urged to be a lot of people inside the Republican Party if they do lose, but it is an if, and people inside the McCain campaign - they do not want ANY discussion that has in "if" in front of it six days before the election.
Hear that? It's the sound of the Republican party splitting in half like a cracked coconut: Those who think IWRC* is a $100,000-packaged disaster on one side, and those (including Bill Kristol and Brent Bozell) who think she's the doggone awesomest ever, blaming Gramm-pa McCain for everything-- even her illiteracy and ethics lapses, on the other.

Here's more on the calculated Pygmalionesque plans for her future presidency:

To create a Palin movement, Bonjean recommends, she should go back to Alaska, because she must remain an outsider. Plus, Palin should use the National Governors Association as Bill Clinton did, to "showcase his skills and make connections." Bonjean says Palin should own the energy issue, traveling the world to meet foreign leaders and establish relationships.

"All of which would set her up for a run on the 2012 ticket," he writes, which leaves open the question — for president, or this time just a better vice presidential candidate? Palin is no doubt a star, and no doubt making plans for her future.

Or, she could join Sam the Erstwhile Plumbing Imposter and start a garage band.

SNL Costumer: IWRC* Palin Wanted Nicer Clothes

By GottaLaff

Heh. Tee hee. Haha. Ohahahaa! HAHAHAA!!!

The "Saturday Night Live" costume designer Wednesday night revealed the struggle he had in dressing Sarah Palin: she wanted to wear nicer clothes than they had picked out for her, reflecting the new image she has carefully constructed on the campaign trail.

Get real, SNL! If it ain't Chanel, then fuggetaboutit. After all, IWRC* is just plain ol', working class Jane Dom Perignon.

And according to Women's Wear Daily's Irin Carmon, "SNL" costume designer Tom Broecker said Wednesday night that dressing Palin for last Saturday's cameo required a compromise:

Of Palin, Broecker said, "In speaking with her, I had to get her to understand why she needed to wear the same thing as Tina [Fey]. We had gone off and created it for the first time a month ago, a look we identified as Sarah Palin. She had moved on in her own image of herself. I said, 'I know you've moved on you're wearing tighter clothes, more black but this is the character of Sarah Palin.''

The compromise, he said, was Palin returning in her own clothes the second time she appeared on the show to cheer on Amy Poehler's Palin-themed rap.

Whenever we have a theatre student who whines about some outfit they have to wear in a play, we say the same thing over and over, every show, every year: "It's a costume. You'll be wearing it for about two hours. In a play that you wanted to do. Deal."

Hey IWRC, it's a costume. For a show. That you agreed to do. Deal.

VIDEO-- IWRC* Palin: The Vice President Is ‘In Charge Of The U.S. Senate’

By GottaLaff

Yep. IWRC*'s ready to step right in, what with her vast knowledge of how the government works and all:

Yesterday, Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) sat for an interview with KUSA, an NBC affiliate in Colorado. In response to a question sent to the network by a third grader at a local elementary school about what the Vice President does, Palin erroneously argued that the Vice President is “in charge of the United States Senate". [...]

[She] herself asked this very question on national television in July. Apparently, she still hasn’t learned the correct answer.
Article I of the Constitution establishes an exceptionally limited role for the Vice President — giving the office holder a vote only when the Senate is “equally divided”:

The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no vote, unless they be equally divided.

Moreover, the U.S. Senate website explains that the modern role of Vice Presidents has been to preside over the Senate “only on ceremonial occasions.” ThinkProgress contacted Senior Assistant Paliamentarian Peter Robinson, who also disputed Palin’s characterization of the Vice President’s role:

In modern practice the Vice President doesn’t really control the Senate. … If anyone has a responsibility to try to govern the Senate, it’s the responsibility of the two leaders.

Maybe she meant she'd only be in charge of the pro-American Senators.

Michele Bachmann made Tinklenberg $620,000

By GottaLaff

In. Your. McCarthian. Face, Bachmann:

An official with Democrat Elwyn Tinklenberg's campaign says the 6th District DFLer raised $620 thousand since GOP Rep. Michele Bachmann made her comments on Friday.

The source said another surge in donations occurred after former Secretary of State Colin Powell cited Bachmann as one of the reasons he endorsed Barack Obama. Powell called her comments "nonsense" during a briefing with reporters.

You can watch Powell's statements here. You can point and laugh and widen your eyes in horror as you watch Bachmann's lunacy here.

VIDEO-- Gramm-pa McCain advisor: ‘Real Virginia’ doesn't include Northern Virginia

By GottaLaff

Just keep digging yourself into that hole, Nance:

On MSNBC this morning, McCain adviser Nancy Pfotenhauer asserted that “real Virginia” does not include Northern Virginia:

I certainly agree that Northern Virginia has gone more Democratic. … But the rest of the state — real Virginia if you will — I think will be very responsive to Senator McCain’s message.

So, if Grammps isn't winning over a certain segment of the population, they don't exist. Way to win voters, Nance.

The MSNBC anchor tries to give her some rope, but she just uses it to hang herself. As he said, "Hey Nancy, I'm gonna give you a chance to climb back off that ledge." Hole, rope, ledge, it doesn't matter which method she used. She blew it. FYI:
The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports:
An early October Times-Dispatch poll by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research Inc. showed voters in Southwest Virginia preferred McCain to Obama, 54 percent to 39 percent, with 7 percent undecided. Statewide, recent polls have shown Obama running anywhere from statistically even with McCain to 10 points ahead.
By the way, "real voters" won't vote for Gramm-pa.

Poor wittle IWRC* Palin! She's tired of Joe and depressed by the news

By GottaLaff

Get your hankies out for poor, pitiful wittle IWRC*. She needs a shoulder! She not happy! Her minders don't want her watching the news, and apparently god is controlling the polls. Anyone got a lollipop to shove up in her face mouth?
Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin told supporters at a North Carolina fundraiser that her aides discouraged her from watching campaign news because they thought she would get “depressed.”

At those times on the campaign trail when sometimes it’s easy to get a little bit discouraged, when you know, when you happen to turn on the news when your campaign staffers will let you turn on the news,” she said Thursday night, to laughter from the crowd. “Usually they’re like ‘Oh my gosh, don’t watch, you’re going to, you know, you’re going to get depressed.’

“But yeah, sometimes you do get depressed watching what it is that they’re reporting and the spin and some of the distortion of what our message is and what we stand for, sometimes that, that gets draining,” she added. “But it’s at events like these and our rallies that we are so energized and inspired and we know that we are not alone. We feel your strength and we feel the power of prayer, so many of you tell us that you are praying for us and praying for our country, and that’s why we so appreciate you being here.”

The view isn’t all glum from the trail. “We even saw today, thank the Lord, we saw some movement,” looking upwards and making a fist. Another bright note for her, she said later, was visiting “pro-America” areas of the country.

There are so many things wrong with what she said on so many levels. I don't even know where to begin: With the "anti-Americans" for Obama? With the parts of the country that her own special god condemns? With the distortions that should be attributed to her instead of the evil press?

After 24 hours dominated by the campaign’s latest unwitting celebrity, the Alaska governor conceded she was getting a little tired of talking about Joe “The Plumber” Wurzelbach. “And I, I begged our speech writers, ‘Don’t make me say Joe the Plumber, please, in any speeches.’ And I was asked ‘Just one time, just at this fund raiser.’”

I bet they waterboarded her into indulging them "just one more time". I can't fathom how painful it must be for her to talk about Joe the Bummer, because, you know, lying and distorting are such a rarity in her speeches.

The McCain camp has encountered some playlist difficulties this year: Heart, John Mellencamp, Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Jackson Browne, and the Foo Fighters have all asked that the campaign stop using their songs on the trail. On Thursday, Palin expressed satisfaction with the latest musical selection.

“I don’t think we’ve ever had intro music by AC/DC before. That was kinda cool,” she said. “In fact, we were on the bus today, we were making a list of who are some celebrity singers who could come out and help us and gosh, for the life of us, the pickings were slim there. Who’s quasi-conservative out there in the celebrity land?”

Gosh! Using songs without permission is wrong! Who'd a thunk it!?

This is beyond pathetic. This is laughable. But it will be a whole lot funnier once Obama wins.

IWRC* Palin jumps the shark

By GottaLaff

Via Mudflats, we see that IWRC* Palin inhabits her own planet, a planet of one:

Here is the transcript of a five minute conference call with Sarah Palin, Meg Stapleton, the Anchorage Daily News, and local TV stations KTVA, and KTUU. The journalists got one question each with no follow up. [...] [It comes] after the Branchflower Report on the Troopergate investigation was released, stating that she had abused her power as governor. As a matter of fact, let’s review Finding Number One as it is written:

“For the reasons explained in section IV of the report, I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.11(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act.

“The legislature reaffirms that each public officer holds office as a public trust, and any effort to benefit a personal or financial interest through official action is a violation of that trust.”

Remember, that the Legislative Council, made up of TEN Republicans and FOUR Democrats voted unanimously to begin the investigation, and unanimously to release the results of the investigation. Continuing with the transcript (emphasis is Mudflats'):

Stapleton: Sure governor, go ahead.

Palin: OK cool.

Well, I’m very very pleased to be cleared of any legal wrongdoing … any hint of any kind of unethical activity there. Very pleased to be cleared of any of that. Todd did what anyone would have done given this state trooper’s very, very troubling behavior and his dangerous threats against our family. Todd did what I think any Alaskan would do.

And he, Todd did what the state’s Department of Law Web site tells anyone to do if they have a concern about a state trooper. And that’s you go to the commissioner and you express your concern. And Todd did what our personal detail asked him to do. Bob Cockrell early on as I was elected and was asked are there any threats against ya, and Todd brought the concern as I did to Commissioner Monegan about the state trooper’s threats. He did what any – I think — any rational person would do so again, nothing to apologize there with Todd’s actions and again very pleased to be cleared of any legal wrongdoing.

(Stapleton invites the first question).

ADN: Governor, finding No.1 on the report was that you abused your power by violating state law. Do you think you did anything wrong at all in this Troopergate case?

Palin: Not at all and I’ll tell you, it, I think that you’re always going to ruffle feathers as you do what you believe is in the best interest of the people whom you are serving. In this case I knew that I had to have the right people in the right position at the right time in this cabinet to best serve Alaskans, and Walt Monegan was not the right person at the right time to meet the goals that we had set out in our administration. So no, not having done anything wrong, and again very much appreciating being cleared of any legal wrongdoing or unethical activity at all.

ADN: Have you read the whole report? (No response; Stapleton invites question from KTVA reporter).

KTVA-Channel 11: … The report that came out yesterday, do you think that the end result is partisan?

Palin: Yeah, I did think it did turn into a partisan circus to tell you the truth. Yes I did. You know from Day One it’s been the Personnel Board that clearly laid out in state statute there — Personnel Board deals with any issue of question regarding a governor, a lieutenant governor or an attorney general in the state of Alaska. What this legislative investigation — quote unquote — turned into was a political circus.

KTUU-Channel 2: Governor, so good to hear from you. Do you approve of the way that your campaign has handled themselves here in Alaska? We’ve had a lot of people voice concerns about what they call attacks of good people in our state while you are away.

Palin: Well I haven’t heard of any attacks on good people in Alaska from our campaign. If you have specifics there, maybe I could answer specifically. But no, in John McCain’s mission here, in taking the high road, as you’re going to see too with a lot of unfair shots he has taken in this campaign with some of his opponents’ supporters, McCain and I taking the high road, being positive. I wouldn’t support nor would I condone taking shots at any good Alaskans.

KTUU-Channel 2: Let me answer your question since you asked for specifics.

Palin: Sure.

KTUU-Channel 2: Walt Monegan was called “rogue.” How do you feel about that?

Palin: Rogue isn’t a negative term when you consider that in a cabinet you need a team effort going forward with a governor’s agenda. And our agenda has been to find efficiencies in every department and make sure that we are serving the people of Alaska to the best of our ability given the resources that we have. And remember I fought very hard to increase funding for state troopers so that we could fill positions there and goals not being met that included not being able to recruit and retain all the state troopers that I wanted to best serve Alaska. That could be characterized I think as a cabinet member who – it’s not a negative term I think — being rogue in terms of not meeting those goals.

Palin: Hey, thank you so, Meg. Thank you so much. Thank you also to our local reporters up there in Alaska. Even hearing your names make me feel like I’m right there with you at home. It’s good to get to speak with you. Let me talk a little bit about the Tasergate issue if you guys would let me and, Meg, you want me to just jump right on in there?

The shark has been jumped.
So let’s recap. The report states she has abused her power as governor, and she’s really glad she’s done nothing wrong. Todd did what any “Alaskan” would do. She thinks the mostly Republican legislative council has turned into a partisan circus, but she hasn’t heard anything about attacks on anyone in Alaska from her campaign. The McCain campaign is taking the high road and being positive. And being a rogue cop isn’t a bad thing. Any questions?

IWRC* Palin: "How dare they boo Piper!"

By GottaLaff
I'm re-posting the video so you have a reference point for this ludicrous and pitiful quote by IWRC* Palin.

Now for the jaw-dropper:

The GOP Vice-Presidential nominee said at an earlier fundraiser that she would stop some of the booing from the rowdy Philadelphia fans by putting her seven year old daughter, Piper in a Flyers jersey. She said, "How dare they boo Piper!"

So basically Sarah Palin has been reduced to the "human shield" defense.

AUDIO-- IWRC* Palin: "Our lives are an open book", but not Obama's

By GottaLaff

Continuing her tour among friendly-only interviewers, Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) appeared on the Laura Ingraham show today.

Paging Planet IWRC* Palin. Come in, IWRC. Earth calling. Is anyone out there? Nope, didn't think so. Listen to the audio above and see if there's a way to make sense of it.

PALIN: Laura, it’s so important for your listeners to start asking those questions and demanding answers of candidates. We certainly — John McCain and I — our lives are an open book. We’re called on the carpet every day, demanded of us to answer questions and I don’t see that on the other side. I don’t see the other ticket being asked to be truthful and give these details that American voters are deserving and your listeners have gotta have these questions too.

Seems that IWRC is popping a few of Cindy McMealTicket's pills, because she is obviously hallucinating.

Palin has refused to give a single news conference, and has taken open questions from her traveling press corps just once — and for fifteen minutes. Though she has granted right-wing Sean Hannity three interviews (better compared to infomercials), she has yet to talk with NBC, CNN, or MSNBC.

Let's not forget about Hugh Hewitt. What a challenge that must have been for her. Coda:
When Ingraham invited Palin to appear on her show every week until election day, Palin replied noncommittally: "You're cool."
Omigod, IWRC's sewwwww totally awesome cuz, like, she thinks Laura's kewl.

Palin says media "censors" her

By GottaLaff

IWRC* Palin's feeling censored. An odd stance for someone who rambles on endlessly until she finally sinks to her unique nadir of incompetence:

Palin, in the midst of preparations for her Thursday night debate with Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden, called into conservative talk radio host Sean Hannity’s show late Wednesday.

In a back-and-forth with Hannity about recent media portrayals of her, Palin said she feels the press "censors" her comments. [...] The Republican vice presidential nominee also said debate moderator Gwen Ifill is “not a concern.” The PBS host became a target for conservatives Wednesday after online reports revealed Ifill plans to release a book on the historic nature of Barack Obama's candidacy. Conservatives charged that it damages Ifill’s objectivity.

"It's motivating even to me to hear Gwen's comments because, again, it's going to motivate me to work that much harder," Palin told Hannity.

Republican presidential nominee John McCain also defended Ifill’s journalistic credentials.
Anyone heard the censor's buzzer yet? Nope, me neither.

Here's something I'd like to censor though; her lies:
And Democratic nominee Barack Obama was irresponsible, though, to not get involved in bailout negotiations, Palin said. "John McCain was leading this charge toward a bipartisan effort that could help support Wall Street," the Republican vice presidential candidate said, "but Barack Obama was phoning it in."

Anticipating Thursday's matchup, Palin also threw jabs toward Biden, telling Hannity that debate preparations helped her realize how "extremely liberal" the Democratic ticket is.
More lies:
Palin reiterated claims that Obama had voted against funding for troops in Iraq, calling him reckless and irresponsible. "It's beyond naive, it's downright dangerous to think that those were Obama's positions," Palin said.

The Alaska Governor also said that 85 percent of small businesses would be adversely affected by Obama's tax plans, and added it is "scary that Sen. Biden has not grasped" the need for a comprehensive energy policy, which Palin said should include offshore drilling.

The interview with Hannity came during his show's "Newsmaker" segment. Palin didn’t answer any questions from listeners.
In that case, I'd say she was not only censoring herself, but the voters, too.

IWRC* Palin says "those Washington elite don’t like the idea of just an everyday working class American running for such an office"

By GottaLaff

You should pardon the expression, but Hugh Hewitt interviewed IWRC* Palin. One word: Oy:

HH: Governor, your candidacy has ignited extreme hostility, even some hatred on the left and in some parts of the media. Are you surprised? And what do you attribute this reaction to?

SP: Oh, I think they’re just not used to someone coming in from the outside saying you know what? It’s time that normal Joe six-pack American is finally represented in the position of vice presidency, and I think that that’s kind of taken some people off guard, and they’re out of sorts, and they’re ticked off about it, but it’s motivation for John McCain and I to work that much harder to make sure that our ticket is victorious, and we put government back on the side of the people of Joe six-pack like me, and we start doing those things that are expected of our government, and we get rid of corruption, and we commit to the reform that is not only desired, but is deserved by Americans.

Yes, that was all one sentence. And yes, we're just a bunch of crankpots. Next, Katie and Charlie were nothing but pop-quizzers:

HH: Now Governor, the Gibson and the Couric interview struck many as sort of pop quizzes designed to embarrass you as opposed to interviews. Do you share that opinion?

SP: Well, I have a degree in journalism also, so it surprises me that so much has changed since I received my education in journalistic ethics all those years ago. But I’m not going to pick a fight with those who buy ink by the barrelful. I’m going to take those shots and those pop quizzes and just say that’s okay, those are good testing grounds.

I cut that one short, as I will others. Next:

HH: Have you followed the attacks on you, say, via Drudge or the blogs? Some of them are just made up and out of left field, others are just mocking. Do you follow those?

SP: No, I sure don’t, and thank God I don’t have time to follow those. You know, I think that those shots, too, though, no matter what we’re taking and receiving, it’s nothing compared to what real shots are against Americans in this world. [...] Those are the shots that Americans are taking, so all this political nonsense and the lies, the rhetoric that is spun out there about someone just trying to offer themselves up in the name of service to this great country, I’ll take it.

HH: Governor, you mentioned the people who are struggling right now. Have you and your husband, Todd, ever faced tough economic times where you had to sit around a kitchen table and make tough choices?

SP: Oh my goodness, yes, Hugh. I know what Americans are going through. Todd and I, heck, we’re going through that right now even as we speak, which may put me again kind of on the outs of those Washington elite who don’t like the idea of just an everyday working class American running for such an office.
Heck, those Washington elite like Joe Biden who makes less money than... Oh, never mind. It gets more annoying from there.
HH: Governor, let’s turn to a couple of issues that the MSM’s not going to pick up. You’re pro-life, and how much of the virulent opposition to you on the left do you attribute to your pro-life position, and maybe even to the birth of, your decision, your and Todd’s decision to have Trig?

SP: Yeah, you know, I think that that’s been probably the most hurtful and nonsensical slap that we’ve been taking is our position that we have taken, pro-life, me personally, and saying that you know, even though I knew that 13 weeks along that Trig would be born with Down Syndrome, and I said you know, he’s still going to be a most precious ingredient in this sometimes messed-up world that we live in. [...] [T]o me, an extreme position is one that Barack Obama took when he was in the Illinois State Senate, not even supporting a measure that would ban partial birth abortion, not even supporting a measure that would during, after a botched abortion and that baby’s born alive, allowing medical care to cease and allowing that baby to die. That to me is extreme. That’s so far, far left it’s certainly out of the mainstream of America.
Does she understand that Roe v. Wade is supported by most of... ? Oh, never mind. She goes on about her religion, and then, finally:

HH: Last question, Governor. Have you and Todd heard from your son? And how is it on your nerves having your son deployed?

SP: That little stinker, I guess he’s called his girlfriend a couple of times, but can you believe he hasn’t called his momma yet?

I can believe it. The very sound of her voice would send him through the... Oh never mind. I'm sparing you a lot of the details. You can follow the link if you're interested. Tough interview, huh? I don't know how she got through it. (sarcasm)

VIDEO: CNN's Jack Cafferty - Palin is a JOKE

By GottaLaff

"If John McCain this woman will be one 72-year-old's heartbeat away from being President of the United States. And if that doesn't scare the hell out of you, it should.... I'm 65, and I've been covering politics... for a long time. That is one of the most pathetic pieces of tape I have ever seen for someone aspiring for one of the highest offices..."

How Alaska's Proximity to Russia is Relevant
An excerpt from Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's interview with Katie Couric to be aired later tonight on the CBS Evening News:

COURIC: You've cited Alaska's proximity to Russia as part of your foreign policy experience. What did you mean by that?

PALIN: That Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia, and on our other side, the land-- boundary that we have with-- Canada. It-- it's funny that a comment like that was-- kind of made to-- cari-- I don't know, you know? Reporters--

COURIC: Mock?

PALIN: Yeah, mocked, I guess that's the word, yeah.

COURIC: Explain to me why that enhances your foreign policy credentials.

PALIN: Well, it certainly does because our-- our next door neighbors are foreign countries. They're in the state that I am the executive of. And there in Russia--

COURIC: Have you ever been involved with any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?

PALIN: We have trade missions back and forth. We-- we do-- it's very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia as Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where-- where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border. It is-- from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there. They are right next to-- to our state.
The gift that keeps on giving.

IWRC* Palin's Big U.N. Photo Op: Media Blackout Excuse Edition

By GottaLaff

--PHOTO WOULD GO HERE--

I will not include the Big Major Photo-Op photo. That would be hypocritical of me, although I could come up with a metaphor instead.

Nah.

This entire IWRC* Photo Op Moment is so laughable that my sides hurt and my eyes are watering. Oh wait. No. That was from the IWRC* campaign's rationalization at the end of this piece.

I'm not exactly sure why we needed to know what IWRC did with her legs:

As the pool entered, the Afghan president appeared to be telling Palin about his young son, who was born in January 2007.

Palin, her legs crossed and at one point patting her heart, was leaning in eagerly and smiling. Karzai, wearing his traditional clothes but without his trademark karakul hat, was also grinning while discussing the child. His remarks were mostly unintelligible as the noise from the clicking cameras drowned them out.

“What is his name?,” Palin asked.

“Mirwais,” Karzai responded. “Mirwais, which means, ‘The Light of the House.’”

“Oh nice,” Palin responded.

“He is the only one we have,” remarked Karzai.

After 29 seconds observing the meeting, CNN and other photographers covering the meeting were escorted out of the room.

Later, McCain-Palin press representatives chalked up the restrictions to a “mix-up, a miscommunication among staff. The full pool — a print and wires reporter, along with a television producer — was then allowed in to observe Palin’s meeting with Colombian President Alvaro Uribe for 15-20 seconds.

If 29 seconds/20 seconds is what the IWRC team is telling us she's worth, that's quite an admission.

Sarah Louise Palin's foreign policy experience: Visiting the U.N.

By GottaLaff

I once worked with the very British Lynn Redgrave, so I can say without hesitation that I have more foreign policy experience than Sarah Louise does. She's taking a Big Trip to the U.N. to meet Very Important People and observe and stuff:

She'll be meeting with Henry Kissinger, the former Secretary of State and Nobel Peace Prize winner; President Alvaro Uribe of Colombia; and Hamid Karzai, the president of Afghanistan, according to a campaign official.

Tuesday's trip gives Palin a quick taste of foreign policy before her one-and-only debate Oct. 2nd with Sen. Joseph Biden, the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee. [...]

At the U.N. headquarters, Palin will be able to see world leaders address the 192 member states. Among them are President Bush, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili.

Those are mighty impressive credentials you got there, Sarah. Now you can say you've met with world leaders without the usual lying.

But psst! Be very, very careful. If anyone asks you how long you met with any of them, or the substance of your dinky little encounters, you're right back to square one.
