VIDEO- McCain on AZ racial profiling bill: I Don’t Know ‘Whether All Of It Is Legal Or Not’

By GottaLaff

Remember this?

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) "has endorsed a tough Arizona anti-immigration bill that will let police arrest people who aren't carrying identification, the latest move in McCain's rightward shift in advance of a tough Republican Senate primary this summer," Politico reports.

Not Maverick Any More is supporting a racial profiling bill that he's not even sure is legal (at about :22):

So let's recap: First he's a maverick, then he isn't. Then he shifts on immigration. Now he's not sure he supports "all the details" of the legislation he advocates. He's just for "the thrust" of the bill.

All while not answering a direct question with a direct answer.

Flanked by police officers at a town hall, McCain rejected fears that the bill will lead to racial profiling. [...]

Unlike her father, McCain's daughter, Meghan, has a clear position on the law. In her Daily Beast column, the younger McCain writes, "I do not support the bill that was signed by Governor Jan Brewer. I believe it gives the state police a license to discriminate, and also, in many ways, violates the civil rights of Arizona residents. Simply put, I think it is a bad law that is missing the bigger picture of what is really going on with illegal immigration."

Meghan can teach her father a thing or two about a thing or two. Now there's someone who could probably beat J.D. Hayworth.

By the way, Daddy McCain called the law a “good tool” for law enforcement. He can relate. He's a good tool for right wing extremists.

VIDEO- Meghan McCain: Tea Party represents ‘innate racism’

By GottaLaff

Broadcast on ABC's The View, Feb. 8, 2010:

The daughter of former presidential candidate John McCain has sharply criticized the Tea Party movement, accusing it of "innate racism."

In an appearance on ABC's The View, Meghan McCain also took issue with a number of recent statements from Sarah Palin, criticizing the former Alaska governor for defending Rush Limbaugh's use of the word "retard" and for suggesting that President Obama launch a war against Iran in order to win a second term.

Plus Meghan and Mommy J Sid are for gay rights. Imagine that.

I applaud Meghan for her remarks on The View. The more often despicable people like Tancredo and many Tea Tantrumers are called out, especially by fellow Republicans, the better. They need to be exposed and eventually, shunned.

This country is headed in a dangerous direction if hate speech continues to be expressed so vehemently and frequently, and then given an enormous microphone via the No Longer News media.

So, to Meghan McCain:

We previously posted about the Tom Tancredo comments here. All our Tea Tantrumer posts can be found here.

PhotOh! Something's missing from Meghan McCain's bed

By GottaLaff

Manless in NYC.

I couldn't resist, it's been that kind of day. Via Twitter:

It looks kinda like Jessica Rabbit threw up... unlike my own bed that looks more like Rachel Maddow did (jeans, tee shirts).

Hang in there, MegMac. Sephora will tide you over in the meantime.

Andrew Breitbart: "Kennedy was a special pile of human excrement"

By GottaLaff

http://thesituationist.files.wordpress.com/2007/11/hate-image2.jpg

Shortly after the announcement of Ted Kennedy's death, bottom-feeding, lowlife slug, conservative commentator Andrew Breitbart...
... began a sustained assault on Kennedy’s memory, tweeting “Rest in Chappaquiddick.”

Over the course of the next three hours, Breitbart unapologetically attacked Kennedy, calling him avillain,” “a big ass motherf@#$er,” a “duplicitous bastard” and a “prick.” “I’ll shut my mouth for Carter. That’s just politics. Kennedy was a special pile of human excrement,” wrote Breitbart in one tweet.

When Politico’s Michael Calderone highlighted Breitbart’s attacks in an article called, “Not all Kennedy critics hold fire,” a pleased Breitbart tweeted:

Andrew Breitbart tweets about Politico covering his tweets.

When a fellow conservative tweeted to Breitbart asking him not to treat Kennedy like they believe some on the left treated the passing of Tony Snow and Ronald Reagan, Breitbart respondedHow dare you compare Snow & Reagan to Kennedy! Why do you grant a BULLY special status upon his death? This isnt lib v con.
He wasn't the only one. Megan Carpentier has rounded up other conservative Twitter attacks on Kennedy.

Unbelievable. I can't find words to express how appalling these scum-suckers are. Just.... unbelievable. The overall image they are creating for themselves is one they deserve: gun-toting, hate-spewing, ill-bred, contemptuous animals. Good luck with that, Rushpublics. That should play well in 2010.

Kudos to Meghan McCain for standing up to them. I'd like to thank her personally for that, and if I see her on Twitter, I will.

Joe the Plumber agrees with Meghan McCain: I’m just a ‘dumb plumber.’

By GottaLaff

Meghan McCain had called Not Joe the Not Plumber a "dumbass" awhile ago. Not Joe is so dumb that he publicly agreed with MegMac that he is, indeed, dumb... but he left out "ass":
[...] Wurzelbacher showed up at an “Average Joes, Powerful Voices” event in Greenville, WI yesterday to speak to those protesting “taxes and government spending.” But it appeared that he agreed, at least in part, with Meghan McCain’s criticism:

Wurzelbacher described himself as a “dumb plumber” who nevertheless could understand the Constitution. [...] He criticized wasteful government spending, lack of accountability, the disconnect between Christian values and politics, and political correctness.

Washington has no idea what’s going on here or anywhere else,” Joe the Plumber said in an interview after the event. “So we need to govern ourselves more and go back to state rights.” Seeming to then take issue with McCain’s (and his own) characterization, he also criticized those who paint him as a “bad person” or “some ignorant red-neck who doesn’t have anything to say about anything.” “[It's] not true you know,” he said. “I’m very educated, I know what I’m talking about, I know the facts.”

If this is what "very educated" sounds like, our schools are in more trouble than I thought.

Meghan McCain: ‘Joe the Plumber — you can quote me — is a dumbass.’

By GottaLaff

http://topnews.in/files/meghan-mccain_0.jpghttp://thinkprogress.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/joethep.gif

Not Joe the Not Plumber gets smacked down by Not John Sidney:
[...] McCain took a crack at a man her father made famous during last year’s presidential campaign, Joe the Plumber:

Yet even as the balance begins to shift, the old guard is still yapping in the foreground. Shortly before McCain sat for this interview, Samuel Wurzelbacher, aka Joe the Plumber, gave an interview to Christianity Today in which he complained about “queers” and declared, “I wouldn’t have them anywhere near my children.” Unprompted, McCain rails against the man her father’s presidential campaign touted as an American everyman and made a showpiece in the weeks before the election. “Joe the Plumber — you can quote me — is a dumbass. He should stick to plumbing.”

If only she'd been that amusing on Real Time with Bill Maher. You can quote me.

"Do NOT Elect A Racist"... by Meghan McCain

By GottaLaff

http://www.thesaudavoice.com/.a/6a00e55291ee8488330115704830d4970c-800wi
As the Young Republicans prepare to elect a woman on Saturday who has compared to President Obama to a terrorist and appears to have laughed at a comment calling blacks “coons,” Meghan McCain seeks to stage an intervention.
I use MegMac's Tweets on My Tweet Spot regularly. Why? Because, if nothing else, she always has something interesting to say, whether inane, serious, sensible, or provocative. Look! Here's one of her more interesting moments now!

If you remember, posted about this... this... "person", this "Young Republican" named Audra Shay the other day.
http://www.tdbimg.com/files/2009/07/10/img-bs-top---mccain-audra-shay_182634999176.jpg
Now Meghan is taking her on, too:
You can probably guess how I feel about a woman who thinks comparing President Obama to a terrorist and referring to blacks as “mad coons” is funny.

The definition of insanity is repeating the same actions over and over again and expecting different results. What exactly do the Young Republicans expect to achieve by electing a 38-year-old woman who thinks racial epithets are acceptable? [...]

I understand that my place within the Young Republicans and the Republican Party is a controversial one, which is something I am still trying to get comfortable with. I am criticized almost daily for not being “conservative enough.” But the Republican Party needs to reach out to all kinds of voters. The last time I checked, most conservatives are already Republicans. It’s the independents that we need to sway. We need to make them believe we really do practice what we preached about less government, less spending, national security, etc, and we aren’t recruiting leaders who are old and out of touch. I am not saying I am that face, but Audra Shay certainly isn’t. She represents the same old stereotypes about “young Republicans”—apparently racist and more middle-aged than youthful. In short, disconnected from the real youth of this country.
::brakes screeching!:: 38 is middle-aged?

Oh, and MegMac? No matter how hard your team tries, Rushpublicans just aren't, well, cool. But I digress:
What Young Republicans need is a revolution.
And what they're getting is a civil war.

But we appreciate the sentiment.

Meghan McCain is mad at Steve Benen

By GottaLaff

http://static.crooksandliars.com/files/uploads/2008/09/maddow-benen.jpg
I've been following MegMac's Twitter time line on this, and had a problem with the content of her Tweets, too. Steve Benen, a frequent guest on The Rachel Maddow Show, explains:
I had an item yesterday noting that Dick Cheney's remarks on gay marriage may have a role in the party's debate over gay rights. I added what seemed like a pretty uncontroversial idea -- while Meghan McCain and Steve Schmidt were other Republicans of note who've taken progressive views on the issue, Dick Cheney has far greater influence.

Apparently, this has angered Meghan McCain in some way. She's added at least four tweets complaining about my observation. In the order in which they were posted:

# Hey Washington Monthly, so it's only important to speak out for marriage equality if your an old man?

# so I guess young women should just stfu and be seen and not heard Washington Monthly....? Only Dick Cheney should speak out...?

# I wonder if the Washington Monthly thinks if all women or minorities speak out it is "almost meaningless" - apparently only Cheney matters

# I guarantee you if one of my brothers were doing what I am doing right now the Washington Monthly would think it had meaning.

This is what I wrote that prompted these tweets: "It was pretty meaningless to hear Meghan McCain urge her Republican Party to come around on gay marriage. It seemed a bit more important when Steve Schmidt, John McCain's campaign manager, gave the GOP the same advice. But in terms of influence in Republican politics, Dick Cheney is on another level."

I haven't the foggiest idea why this seems so outrageous to McCain...
And he goes on to explain, ending on this note:
Based on an 18-word sentence in a blog post, Meghan McCain has concluded that I only respect old white guys, I don't respect young women, and I'm somehow hostile to minorities. I still don't really know how she came to these conclusions, but I'm pleased to report she's mistaken.
MegMac has some growing up to do, or perhaps a little more experience. If she insists on painting herself as a budding journalist, and if she demands credibility, then she needs to learn to do a little more research before making comments like these.

Tuh-WEET: Meghan McCain switched to Republican party

By GottaLaff

For those of you out there who continue to believe that MegMac is inching toward becoming a Democrat, allow me to share this Meghan McCain Tweet:
June 12th will be the year anniversary of being a registered republican (indy before), I think I need to throw a big, fat, crazy, party
RT
She was an Independent, switched to the Rushpublic party, and is publicly celebrating that fact.

My feeling is that she's aiming to transform the party by presenting herself as one of the Rushpublic's "new faces" (as opposed to all the old ones who claim they are new), reaping the resulting benefits in the process. She's already a media sweetheart, Rushpublics like her, Dems like her, and she is becoming a hero of sorts. She fills a gap.

Becoming a Democrat would serve no real purpose. She might get a burst of attention, but being the "rebel" in a dying party that badly needs CPR gives her long term notoriety, a career boost, could make her a bigger hero, and provides more options than becoming, well,, Meghan Specter.
