BREAKING: Michael Jackson's death ruled a homicide

The AP is reporting:

A law enforcement official says the Los Angeles County coroner has ruled Michael Jackson's death a homicide.

Word comes after an earlier report that a search warrant affidavit says Michael Jackson had lethal levels of the powerful anesthetic propofol in his system when he died.

Expect no other news today....

....other than that pesky torture report and the fact that Attorney General Holder will appoint a prosecutor to investigate the CIA.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Newspaper Web sites had some hiccups Tuesday because of a crush of traffic related to Michael Jackson's memorial service. The Internet as a whole, though, didn't seem to suffer.

Keynote says it took up to 18 seconds to load the home pages of some of the 16 major news sites it tracks. The average time increased to 5.5 seconds from 4.25 seconds. Keynote didn't identify which sites were hit hardest.

The company says overall Internet performance wasn't seriously affected by Jackson-related traffic.

That's unlike the inauguration of President Barack Obama in January. Live streaming of that larger event brought the performance of many sites to a crawl.

Earlier during the programming (the segment aired at 7:30 eastern time), the death of Michael Jackson was announced.

How very sensitive of them. Then again, what do you expect from a guy named Asman? A guy named "Bishop", on the other hand...

As far as MSNBC is concerned, Iran, Darfur, health care reform, global warming, et al. have been eclipsed by much bigger news: The death of a celebrity.

Oh that's right. Darfur was never really newsworthy to begin with.

Me & Mike Jackson

Wow, this has been a bad day for us Baby Boomlets. First Farrah (we girls were outraged over the nippage on the poster) I seriously remember the first time I saw her I was all, "Oooooh, she's shiny". But she deserved our consideration after going serious with the "Burning Bed". And then there's the J5.

I grew up in Northern Indiana, about 45 minutes from Gary. My grandmother went to bingo every Thursday night at our Catholic church and I was expected to accompany. I did, but I would usually pocket a 45* so the little un's could have some fun. Usually the 45* was "Rockin' Robin". And Mike was the man, all though little.

G-d bless Mike and Farrah, they were our past.

UPDATE: Michael Jackson has died

UPDATE: Personal take: The Jackson family lived around the corner from me when I lived in Encino. We used to hang out across the street and wait for them to drive out, which they did often, to our delight. The Jacksons bought the house from the composer/arranger Earle Hagen, whose son Deane I was close with. I was lucky to live where I lived, lots of great memories.

UPDATE:

A source tells us Jackson was dead when paramedics arrived.

Once at the hospital, the staff tried to resuscitate him but he was completely unresponsive.

We're told one of the staff members at Jackson's home called 911.

La Toya ran in the hospital sobbing after Jackson was pronounced dead.

UPDATE:

We've just learned Michael Jackson has died. He was 50.

Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon and paramedics were unable to revive him. We're told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.

Michael is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince "Blanket" Michael Jackson II.

Jackson had 13 number one hits during his solo career.

UPDATE: Conflicting reports. Apparently the post I deleted was a hoax. Thank you, hoaxers, so very much.

UPDATE: The 911 call came in at 12:21PM at his Holmby Hills home in L.A.

UPDATE: A Jackson family member tells TMZ Michael is in "really bad shape" and the brothers are headed to UCLA.

UPDATE: We just got off the phone with Joe Jackson, Michael's dad, who says "he is not doing well."

Michael Jackson has been hospitalized in Los Angeles after suffering a heart attack.

The 50-year-old King of Pop collapsed at his home around noon today. Staffers immediately rushed to his aid, but he was unresponsive.

"The call came in because a person was not breathing," says a spokesman for the Los Angeles City Fire Department, who declined to ID the singer by name.

"When the team arrived, they saw that CPR was already in progress by someone at the home. The person not breathing was transported to UCLA Medical Center and remains there."

"He had a heart attack," father Joe Jackson tells E! News. "He is not OK.

"His mother is on her way to the hospital now to check in on him."
