Utah County parents protest schools' promotion of 'democracy'

The D word! Oh noes! Kids, cover your ears! Adults, watch your mouths!

Some Utah County parents are calling on the Alpine School District to stop spreading "false educational ideas." First and foremost, the parents say, the district needs to clamp down on its use of the D-word: "democracy."

Why... sputter, sputter... How. Dare. They? Words like d... de... de-e-m-m o... democracy (whew! I barely got that out, it was made of such nasty dirty filthy wrong) should be banned! Redacted! Removed from dictionaries!

Why, why... that's a gateway word!! Next thing you know, an innocent child may slip and morph right into big f***ing deal!

Yes, it's actually come to this:

This week, a spokeswoman for Utah's Republic, a group that advocates for a strict interpretation of the U.S. Constitution, asked the Alpine Board of Education to scrap its democracy-centered mission statement. [...]

But this nation is a republic, not a democracy, said Oak Norton, a Highland father of five and the founder of Utah's Republic. The Constitution guarantees every state a "republican form of government." "Karl Marx said, 'Democracy is the road to socialism,' " Norton said. A true democracy, he said, relies solely on majority rule and inevitably devolves into anarchy, which then sprouts socialist dictators.

But never fear, the board stands by its language. Good. We'd hate for a guy named after a tree to dictate anything to a place of education.

The Alpine board:

"We chose 'our democracy' to reflect both a government with power vested in the people and our freedoms. We not only recognize that our government is a republic, but we value and participate in this form of government with an elected Board of Education," the statement said. "The use of the word democracy underscores the type of republic found in the United States."

Gee, ya think?

American Muslims Rip Pamela Geller/CPAC Session on "Islamic supremacism"

A panel discussion on the threat posed by "Islamic supremacism," Shariah and political correctness has been scheduled for this week's Conservative Political Action Conference, stirring complaints from some American Muslims that the exercise amounts to Muslim-bashing.

Conservatives? Bash Muslims? What a surprise:

"It's unfortunate that a conservative conference would be in any way associated with Muslim bashers and Islamophobes," said Ibrahim Hooper, spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations. "It's a free country. They're free to be anti-Muslim bigots if they like, but it's really up to the organizers of CPAC to determine if they're going to allow their conference to be associated with the hate-filled views of those who will be speaking."

One guess who's behind this:

[Pamela] Geller, publisher of the AtlasShrugs.com blog, is putting on the talk with Jihad Watch director Robert Spencer. Both are fierce critics of Islam.

Justice Department seeking lawyers with ‘mental retardation’

The Civil Rights Division encourages qualified applicants with targeted disabilities to apply. Targeted disabilities are deafness, blindness, missing extremities, partial or complete paralysis, convulsive disorder, mental retardation, mental illness, severe distortion of limbs and/or spine.

Maybe she and Boss Limpdong can team up for a lawsuit or some good old fashioned slander, since he's on her good side now. Oh wait. She doesn't have a good side.

In its ostensible attempt to create a nondiscriminatory application process, the Department of Justice is inviting candidates with "mental retardation" to pursue attorney posts.

A DOJ job listing at its official Web site reveals that its Civil Rights Division is seeking 10 "experienced" trial attorneys for its Voting Section in Washington, D.C. and is encouraging "qualified applicants with targeted disabilities to apply."

The targeted disabilities it mentions include "mental retardation" and "mental illness," among others such as blindness and deafness.

Cheese and crackers, talk about inclusive! What will the R-word police say about that? Will they demand that future Civil Rights Divisoners take literacy tests?

Or will people just make jokes:

"Recruiting mentally retarded lawyers to litigate civil rights cases for the DOJ may take the expression 'good enough for government work' too far," wrote Above The Law's David Lat.

Former DOJ lawyer Ty Clevenger jested, "Having worked there, I think CRD has plenty of mentally retarded lawyers already. Mostly in supervisory positions."

The daughter of former presidential candidate John McCain has sharply criticized the Tea Party movement, accusing it of "innate racism."

In an appearance on ABC's The View, Meghan McCain also took issue with a number of recent statements from Sarah Palin, criticizing the former Alaska governor for defending Rush Limbaugh's use of the word "retard" and for suggesting that President Obama launch a war against Iran in order to win a second term.

Plus Meghan and Mommy J Sid are for gay rights. Imagine that.

I applaud Meghan for her remarks on The View. The more often despicable people like Tancredo and many Tea Tantrumers are called out, especially by fellow Republicans, the better. They need to be exposed and eventually, shunned.

This country is headed in a dangerous direction if hate speech continues to be expressed so vehemently and frequently, and then given an enormous microphone via the No Longer News media.

Palin Hypocrisy Watch: Fire Rahm, but not Rick Perry adviser for "retarded" comments

In an earlier post, I reported on a Rick Perry campaign adviser who, per the Hutchison campaign, bandied the "R" word about.

Heartbreak McTwoFaced, ironically, supports Rick Perry and is campaigning on his behalf.

So, yeah, this isn't hypocritical at all:

Sarah Palin is criticizing a Rick Perry campaign adviser accused of using the word "retarded" - but she isn't demanding that the aide be fired. [...]

On Monday, Palin called on President Obama to fire his Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel for using the very same word in a closed door meeting about health care negotiations. [...]

She said Emanuel's use of the term, first reported in a Wall Street Journal article last week, was "heartbreaking" and merited his dismissal from the president's inner circle.

Apparently her achy breaky heart only achy aches when Democrats are involved.

UPDATE: Boss Limpdong wasn't asked to resign either.

Obama to campaign for Reid

Stop right there. Other than all Hillary all the time, there's been non-stop talk about Biden's gaffes, past, present, recent, future, and imaginary. Enough. Moving on:

Just one day after announcing his VP pick, the presumptive Democratic nominee showed a little bit of the loose lips reminiscent of the Delaware senator now on his ticket.

Again with the Biden loose lip comments. Stop. Just. Stop. Resuming:

"If we can spend $10 to $12 billion a month in Iraq, we sure as HELL can pay $10 to $12 million -- billion dollars right here in the United States."

OH MY GOD. Obama said the h-e-double hockey sticks word. He's not fit to hold office. Nobody ever does that. Not nobody nohow nowhere no way.

Obama was speaking about the need to invest money domestically -- on things like long-term energy solutions -- and looked a little flustered after the word "hell" came out of his mouth.

And why shouldn't he look flustered? He made the biggest faux pas ever. That should lead every news cast on every station in every country every day. For weeks. For months.

The Illinois senator quickly corrected his word slip in front of the town hall of 300 in Eau Claire, Wis.

"I apologize, by the way, I usually say 'heck,' especially after church. That sort of slipped out," Obama said shortly after his morning visit to First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.

I guess nobody would want to have a beer with him now. People who drink beer never swear. And presidential candidates never should and never have. Just ask John Sidney Eldon Smith McCain.
