Bill Clinton v. Michele Bachmann

By GottaLaff

The Big Dog growls at Michele:

"They are not gangsters. They were elected. They are not doing anything they were not elected to do."

-- Former President Bill Clinton, quoted by the New York Times, scolding Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R-MN) for calling the Obama administration and Democratic Congress as "the gangster government."

I'd reveal the kind of movement with which I identify Michele, but that would be so very unladylike.

Besides, making her the butt of my jokes is so five minutes ago. I'd make an ass of myself if I pushed that hard. My disdain is rearing its ugly head, so I'll refrain. Oh, poopy, I'm running a little behind, so I'll back off now.

Bottoms up!

The end.

VIDEO- Palin, after crowd applauds possible 2012 Palin/Bachmann ticket: "Sounds kinda cool"

By GottaLaff

Think of the snarkabilities!

The live audience from the Minnesota Republican Party rally that day roared in applause and cheering at [ the idea of a Palin/Bachmann ticket]. "Well that sounds kind of cool," said Palin.

Didn't Pander McBadOutfit put her "life in God's hands" when she, you know, lost?

Didn't she believe Him the first time?

Let's hope not. Quitty McHalfGov/Loona McHalfBrain 2012!

Okay, the DNC didn't call them the Loon Rangers. That's a name I came up with awhile back. But if the lunacy fits:

Laffy on the radio: The Nicole Sandler Show VIDEO- March 31, 2010

By GottaLaff

My segment starts at about the 30 minute mark.

Nicole Sandler is a pleasure to talk to. It's like a couple of pals gabbing our heads off, a sort of stream of consciousness.

Thank you, Nicole, for putting me at ease and making a half hour fly by!

FEC: Bachmann’s campaign finance errors a “serious problem”

By GottaLaff

The Loon Ranger is in hot water:

"Although the Commission may take further legal action, prompt action by you to refund, redesignate, and/or reattribute of the excessive amount will be taken into consideration.”

Among the complaints identified by the FEC, Bachmann had “one or more contributions that appear to exceed the limits set forth in the Act,” “incorrect values in the ‘Election Cycle-to-Date’ field,” “contributions from individuals for which the identification is not complete,” and the report “contains entries for contributions made by more than one person.”

Michele Bachmann, you've got some 'splainin' to do to those law and order Tea Tantrumers you pal around with.

Michele Bachmann introduces bill to repeal health care reform

By GottaLaff

The Loon Ranger is going to introduce a bill to repeal health care reform legislation, but who's going to introduce her to reality?

Bachmann:

President Obama and Democrats in Congress "have ignored the will of the people and have chosen to ram through their trillion-dollar health care bill despite the American people's overwhelming objection to it," Bachmann said in a written statement. [...]

"[T]he American people won't ever forget the irresponsible actions of this Administration and Democratic Majority."

Let's take this carelessly worded statement one faulty declaration at a time:

--"Ignored the will of the people" says she. Oh really? Would that be the same landslide of people who elected those very representatives, because they promised health care reform? I thought so.

-- "Trillion-dollar health care bill", says she. What the...? She's right! Just ask Ezra Klein:
In the second 10 years -- so, 2020 to 2029 -- it will reduce the deficit by $1.2 trillion.
-- "Overwhelming objection to it", says she. Absolutely correct, as long as-- surprise!-- she ignores the American people who say the bill didn't go far enough, or who are actually familiar with the components of the bill itself. Then there's all kinds of support. Imagine that.

-- "The American people won't ever forget the irresponsible actions", says she. Right again! They won't ever forget the irresponsible actions of-- ta da!-- the GOP and the Tea Baggers. Maybe a better word would be "reprehensible" actions. Between the vitriol, the bigotry, racial slurs, and obstruction, the American people have a whole lot of nasty stuff stored in their memory banks.

Michele, allow us to introduce you to Facts. Facts, meet Michele. Now why don't the two of you go somewhere private and get to know each other.

Repercussions

By GottaLaff

TPM
has reminded us that there are consequences for every vote in Congress.

NOW, NOW...

NOW says it is "incensed" over the abortion deal President Obama has struck to get health care reform passed.

That was repercussion #1.

A lot of us are wishing that abortion rights, legal abortion rights, the ones that are legal, wouldn't be tampered with. Speaking of which, Joan McCarter (AKA MCJoan at Daily Kos) tweeted something that's getting a lot of play on Twitter:

There's benefit to Stupak's obstructionism: A resounding declaration this bill does NOT pay for abortion.

And if you listen to Michele Bachmann (I jotted this down while she was ranting on the Tee Vee Machine), the anti-choicers are doomed, doomed:

"Nobody can call themselves pro-life EVER AGAIN if they vote for this bill."

Oh, but they will. And we'll continue to call them anti choice.

Sidebar: Bachmann also slipped and called Democrats "pro-life". That was yummy.

Now for repercussion #2.

Richard Trumka of the AFL-CIO says that unions will remember which Democrats voted against health care reform.

"[T]hat'll be part of what we look at when endorsements comes. This will be a big one. This will have more weight than a lot of the other little ones."

Election 2010 is getting interestinger and interestinger.

Barney Frank: GOP "decided apparently that they benefit from virulence, hatred, disruption"

By GottaLaff

http://www.shewired.com/Images/Articles/24663/24663_TopNews_frank1.jpg

Earlier, there were disruptive shouts of "Kill the bill!" from a protester in the House gallery. How did the GOP respond? They applauded, cheering him on. Aren't they the perfect role models for our youth?

Barney Frank had a thing or two to say about that embarrassing display:

“You have dozens of Republicans standing and applauding and cheering on a guy who was disrupting the proceedings and resisting court officers. It’s really disgraceful.” [...]

"These clowns are out there encouraging a violation of the law. They’ve decided apparently that they benefit from virulence, hatred, disruption."

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), downplayed yesterday's Tea Tantrumers' racial and anti-gay slurs and their spitting on African American lawmakers.

Another fine American.

Barney Frank was none too thrilled with him, either:

“Any movement in which Steve King and Michele Bachmann are among the leaders is probably not going to meet high standards for civility or coherence,” Frank said.

The Loon Rangers ride again- Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann Photo Op: $10,000

By GottaLaff

The Loon Rangers ride again:

photoop -

Put your eyes back into your head, the price includes dinner. See? Worth every very red cent:

According to the invitation, attendees at the April 7 event in Minneapolis are asked to spend $500 per person for attendance at the General Reception and Dinner; $5,000 for a table of ten; and $10,000 per couple for a "Private Reception with Photo Opportunity. (Included in the latter is a table for ten as well).

A bargain at twice the price! After all, who wouldn't want to lose their appetite at a very special fancy schmancy Minnesota-Bachmann Victory Committee gala while feasting their eyes on Batty McCrazyEyes and Corrupta McWTF? Bonus photo included!

All for a measly ten grand!

Hey Tea Tantrumers and Palin/Bachmann fans, imagine all the people without health insurance dying... dying because they can't afford to buy their way to a higher life expectancy, wishing they too had scads of spare cash to blow on pricey photo ops.

Those would be the very same people who the Loon Rangers care nothing about, which Batty proved today at the "Code Red Kill the Bill Rally".

Kill. Nice choice of words.

That's right, attendees, as you pose with Batty and Corrupta, think of this person:

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Enjoy your private reception! Eat up! Smile for the camera!

VIDEO- Michele Bachmann: "Some" have called Obama the "first post-American president"

By GottaLaff

"Some" have called Michelle Bachmann bats*** crazy. In fact, a lot of "somes", including yours truly. But "some" have never done that on national Tee Vee while holding office. That would be, you know, irresponsible.

So anyway, earlier I posted the live video feed of today's Big Bill Killing event, thanks to The Uptake and Craig Stellmacher. Osborne Ink (aka our pal Matt Osborne) got hold of the segment with you know who.

Bachmann has absolutely no idea what she is talking about. None. "We kill [the bill] because we are free." What does that even mean?

And why is she allowed to speak?

“Obama…Pelosi…Reid…They don’t represent us…right now.” Because there was no election in 2008, or because elections do not have consequences? [...]

The Constitution does, in fact, allow Congress to levy taxes (“mandate”) and appoint enforcement officers (IRS), and such laws are, in fact, binding.

Will someone tell me why the Rushpublics are so obsessed with the number of pages in this or any bill?

And once and for all, I wish they'd leave gratuitous references to god, our veterans, and "indentured servants" out of this... and everything else they muck up.

Seriously, they sound like lunatics. It's embarrassing. People are watching.

Matt has more here.

The Loon Rangers: Palin and Pawlenty to help Bachmann raise cash

By GottaLaff

The three of them together? That's a combustible combo; they better provide fire extinguishers to the attendees to treat all the exploding heads.

Check your watches, it's Crazy O'Clock:

Sarah Palin and Tim Pawlenty [...] will meet in Minneapolis next month to help raise money for Rep. Michele Bachmann, an outspoken conservative and popular figure among Tea Party activists. [...]

But Bachmann's campaign also announced that Pawlenty, the Minnesota governor, will be one of several "Honorary Hosts" for the fundraiser - adding an extra layer of 2012 intrigue to the event.

Know who else will be an "honorary host"? Ready? Toker Norm Coleman! Think they'll serve brownies? Maybe he can share his stash with MaryJane McDoobie?

Bachmann's campaign said a rally with Palin is still being planned.

The Loon Rangers ride again.

VIDEO: Neil Cavuto pushes conspiracy theory about Rep. Matheson’s vote

By GottaLaff

BlahblahblahLIESblahblahblahCLUSTERFOXblahblahblah:

Rep. Matheson issued a statement to Fox, stating, “The Weekly Standard’s piece is rubbish.” White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said today that the right-wing allegation is “very silly.” Still, in a sign of its eminent “fairness,” Fox News is willing to “balance” the truth with a heavy dose of gossip.

Republican Sen. Robert Bennett also disputed the right-wing allegation:
“Sen. Bennett has heard of all kinds of pressure being applied and offers being made to Democrats for votes on health care, but Scott Matheson’s nomination is not one of those because it has been in the works for a long time,” spokeswoman Tara DiJulio said.

The GOP is feeling threatened, because health care reform, such as it is, is about to become a reality. They're reverting to default mode: Smears, fears, and acting like rears.

These people are a twisted, dangerous joke.

Michele Bachmann and Alan Grayson are on Larry King Live

By GottaLaff

http://images.politico.com/global/click/091029_alan_grayson_ap_392.jpg

Michele Bachmann and Alan Grayson are on Larry King Live, and I can't resist liveblogging:

King: What's wrong with majority rule?

Michele: That's not how the Senate works. That's the nuclear option. The Senate would have to break the rules to pass the bill.

Alan: She's entirely wrong. There's nothing that prevents reconciliation. If it's good enough for tax cuts to the rich twice, under Bush....

Busted, Michele.

King: Your solution?

M: Let Americans buy any policy with their own money, deduct the rest of expenses. Obama's bill won't bring down costs for Americans.

A: According to CBO, it will provide insurance to 80% who don't have it. Two identical people, one without hc has 40% better chance of dying.

M: What in the world is going on in the WH. He offered a judgeship to brother of a member of Congress. We need an investigation... Is the WH trading health care votes for judgeships?

A: Another weapon of mass distraction, change the subject away from hc. We need affordable health care that is accessible. ... going off on a tangent...

M: Corruption isn't a tangent... This is VERY serious. We need an independent investigation.

A: We will have a health care bill. It's gonna happen.

Um, well, that lasted 8 minutes. Much ado...

UPDATE: Heather at C and L has the video.

Sarah Palin compares beer summit to health care summit

By GottaLaff

http://www.lesliebyrne.org/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/goofy-palin.jpg

Michele Bachmann and BeerCan McClueless just keep topping themselves:

"I think Michele Bachmann summed it up very well earlier today. She suggested that maybe the beer summit was more productive and fruitful than what we saw today coming out of the health care summit."

-- Sarah Palin, in an interview on Fox News.

This from someone (or two) who is never productive and sports a "beer head" full of froth.

Meet the Tea Party's Military Wing

By GottaLaff

Back in October 2009, I posted a Special Comment by 42bkdodgr about Pat Buchanan and the Oath Keepers:

The organization is made up of ex-Army paratroopers and police officers who repledge themselves to defend the Constitution, even if it means disobeying orders. Stewart Rhodes, the organization founder, says the reason for the type of membership, is “my focus is on the guys with the guns”.

Mother Jones picks up where 42bkdodgr left off:
[A] small group of fellow soldiers at the Fort Drum Army base in upstate New York are angry about the recent direction of the federal government. In the belief that it is already starting to turn on its citizens, they are preparing for the day the feds will find some pretext to declare martial law. Their conspiracy-minded rhetoric mirrors that of a recently established group called Oath Keepers. [...] [T]he group encourages active duty soldiers to stay anonymous—they identify themselves as Oath Keepers and subscribe to the group's tenets. But Pray and his pals take the rhetoric a step further: They are actively stockpiling weapons, running drills, and outlining a plan of action for the day "the shit hits the fan"—the day they will be forced to go AWOL to their "fortified bunker," and if it becomes necessary, to turn their guns against fellow soldiers. "I'm willing to fight to the death," Pray tells reporter Justine Sharrock in her new profile of Oath Keepers and its founder.

They also have a lengthy piece here called "Oath Keepers and the Age of Treason"...
Glenn Beck loves them. Tea Partiers court them. Congressmen listen to them. Meet the fast-growing "patriot" group that's recruiting soldiers to resist the Obama administration.

And they provide a slide show of who is connected to this lovely group. Here are the thumbnails, and each has accompanying text that is quite revelatory:

Disturbing, to say the least.

Is Michele Bachmann drinking? "We really need to sober up"

By GottaLaff

http://arizona.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341bf80c53ef01156f6ff896970b-500wi

Michele Bachmann tries to blame President Obama for the "decline in America", and ends up sounding like a drunk with low self esteem:

"I think we are all going to need a self-esteem course or two after that litany and we can't blame anyone for feeling despondent in the midst of all that," Bachmann quipped. [...]

"We are looking at serious long-term damage to the economy and the well being of our people. We really need to sober up…the only people with the power to change this very bad diagnosis is President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and Harry Reid"...

Even her attempted smack downs are one big epic fail.

For more Bachmann inspiration, read the rest of her diatribe here.

Poll-itics: Most Minnesota Voters Embarrassed By Michele Bachmann

By GottaLaff

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBvKkHspRMc5olpW0n9OepRGq0izWEjKYqHorvXPim3buOfE3QzyK9zm2qSNUWdZ_sY_pJzsMePWY7EMLztGN_6LyKYF4K_nv4u4v7Uq852LVhAnV3NrlOOwzs06U5YF9YZTrW3aHeyVI/s320/40949292-1.jpg

There's a saying I've heard that goes a lit-tle something like this: You can judge a person by his/her friends. Take a look at who Michele Bachmann's friends are:
According to the survey, commissioned by the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, Democracy for America, and Credo Action, 56% of Minnesota voters are embarrassed by Bachmann while 29% are proud of her. Another 15% are not sure how they feel about her.

Among Democrats, 87% said they were embarrassed by her, while only 12% of Republicans said they were. Another 58% of Republicans said they were proud of her.
Be proud, Rushpublics. America is judging you.
