Video- Fox host challenges Rove's claims Obama didn't respond to oil disaster fast enough

Someone is messing with the flavors of kool aid over at Fox. I'm really wondering if there was a serious meeting over at Faux News Megabuilding, especially in the light of these two other incidents of truth the past few days, here and here. Wow, she actually got Rove to flail a bit. Video via Think Progress.

Fox refuses climate ad

Hmmm, by confusing I'd guess they really mean "not the lies we've been telling our viewers" so let's not give them the truth. Via Ben-
Fox News last week refused to carry an advertisement from the liberal group VoteVets on the grounds that it was "too confusing," a spokesman for the group said.

The ad, above, seeks to make the familiar case that climate legislation would have national security benefits by reducing the oil profits of hostile Middle Eastern states.

(snip)

A Fox sales executive, Mike Mandelker, told the group's ad buyer that the spot was too confusing, VoteVets spokesman Eric Schmeltzer said.

The ad is airing without objection on CNN and MSNBC.

PhotOh! Freaky Female Foxification

By GottaLaff

How foxed up is this? Paddy linked to a piece over at SFGate earlier that deserves more attention:

There's something creepy going on at Fox, and it's not just the skewed way they choose to report the news. When a woman gets a job on the "fair and balanced" news network, she gets "Foxified." No matter how she looks or how old she is when she signs her contract, these female contributors transform, appearing on our screens strangely clone-like, blonde and so heavily made up they all look around 40.
Here is one example of how ClusterFox Stepfords its female employees: Lis Wiehl. I seem to remember her first as a legal commentator during the O.J. Simpson trial, and then again during President Clinton's impeachment hearings. She was so pretty, someone who I would never expect to have to even consider toying with her already camera-ready appearance:

Then
After 9/11, she was hired by Fox News. The next time I saw her on TV, I only recognized her by her name in the byline.
Now

As Margot Magowan points out, this is not a slam against enhancing one's looks or choosing to work wherever or whenever one wants to. It goes way beyond that. Please go here to read her take and see more before/after photos.

And I still can't figure out why Lis felt it necessary to Fox around with her natural beauty. Beats the Fox outta me.

Screen Grab of the Day

Via WT, and while you've got Fox on the brain go read this very good article about women who get "Foxified" to work there. Worth it in the before/after pic.

Tom Coburn Defends Pelosi from Fox News Attacks

Oh oh, doesn't Coburn know that Fox is the GOP's new boss? Countdown until primetime mea culpa on Hannity.... Via Taegan-

At an Oklahoma town hall meeting, Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) defended Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi against character attacks from Fox News, reports Capitol News Connection.

While discussing his policy disagreements with Pelosi, Coburn said "she's a nice lady," which brought hisses and hoots from the crowd.

Said Coburn: "Come on now. She is nice -- how many of you all have met her? She's a nice person. Just because somebody disagrees with you doesn't mean they're not a good person... So don't catch yourself being biased by Fox News that somebody is no good. The people in Washington are good. They just don't know what they don't know."

VIDEO- Mid-level Fox executive: "Whatever will sell is what we have to say." CNN just as guilty.

By GottaLaff

Just. Watch:

Slightly paraphrased:

"A majority of people at the middle level at Fox News don't believe a word of what they are saying."

Why are you saying it? "Whatever will sell is what we have to say."

Many staffers are considered "left wing", but if they found a message that would sell, the opposite of what they believe, they would do so. That's the Rupert Murdoch way.

Glenn Beck is only as good as his sponsorship. His message doesn't play into Fox News, and he's losing national sponsors, leaving only local, low-paying sponsors. (Thank you, StopBeck).

So how useful is Beck to ClusterFox? He's not. They're selling propaganda to sell products.

From the middle level executive's point of view, there is no political objective at Fox News [sic]. People are stupid enough to believe what they say, and ClusterFox reaps the benefits.

"They'll tell you whatever they sell, and they're only as good as their sponsorship.... at the national expense."

"They're a little annoyed at Ann Coulter... and Glenn Beck."

"CNN is just as guilty as Fox News of being an engine of propaganda... generating fear..." (regarding terrorism)

"News agencies are dangerous to freedom and liberty."

From the horse's mouth.

Tweet from Glenn Beck: "We will rise and crush in November"

By GottaLaff

Take a look at what Glenn Beck tweeted a few hours ago. I just got wind of it:

A call to violence? Bluster? A ClusterFox promo? Or his usual insatiable need for attention and infamy?

Whatever it is, it's hostile and typically odious.

This is exactly the kind of talk that incites others to do things like, oh I don't know, shout vile slurs and spit on Congress members... at the very least.

VIDEO- Fox cheerleads for Tea Partiers. Weiner: "“The important story today is" health care

By GottaLaff

ClusterFox must feel so forlorn and scared and stuff now. They'll have to double their cheerleading efforts. Just imagine their impending coverage of immigration reform.

And eeks! Megyn! Think of all the French Commie gay Marxists who will be stampeding to get multiple abortions now. It'll be out of control!!!

Fox host Megyn Kelly breathlessly reported every movement and rallying cry of the protesters, declaring at one point: “Fox News alert! … Protesters are outside and, now we are getting word, inside the U.S. Capitol!”

President Obama to Appear on Fox News

By GottaLaff

Entering enemy territory:

President Obama will give a rare interview on Wednesday to Fox News, the cable network that a top administration official once accused of being a political arm of the Republican Party.

And she was accurate. Unlike ClusterFox's "reporting".

At the White House briefing this afternoon, Robert Gibbs, the White House press secretary, was asked if the president believed he could really change the minds of viewers who watch Fox. It’s “certainly worth a shot,” Mr. Gibbs said, adding that Mr. Obama was well aware that wavering Democrats and their constituents tuned in to the network.

I hope he got his shots. And takes a few.
