Another Twitter threat to Obama, Secret Service takes note

By GottaLaff

My Twitter pal IanDavidB called the Secret Service on this guy and they listened. The Boston office forwarded it to "The Internet Threat Desk", taking a particular interest in this tweet:

I took a screen grab of his page, just in case (click on image to enlarge, but first take a swig of something strong):

As you know, I continue to air this horrific stuff out, because I feel that ignoring it is allowing the miscreants way too much wiggle room. By exposing them, it allows the Secret Service to nail a few of them, and it calls them out for what they are: Racists, bigots, terrorists.

The level of hatred is unacceptable. The boldness with which some of these animals bear their fangs is downright scary. Whether they do it solely for attention, or because they are committed to their brand of toxic prejudicial sludge, it's out there and needs to stop.

And I repeat my demand for those in positions of leadership to stand up to them and condemn them publicly, on a daily basis, until we see this violently ugly trend ebb.

As President Clinton acknowledges:

“[L]egitimate” comparisons can be drawn between today's grassroots anger and resentment toward the government and the right-wing extremism that bubbled up prior to the bombing of a federal building in Oklahoma City 15 years ago.

Tea Baggers, take note. You wouldn't want another Oklahoma City on your resumes.

VIDEO: Teabaggers Gone Wild

By GottaLaff

From 2009:

My pal Larry Halstead attended a Tea Tantrumers' rally last November, but only got around to editing it last night. I'm awfully glad he did. Watch all 10 minutes of it. Wow.

On November 22, 2009, The Tea Party Express landed in the High Desert Community of Barstow, CA after a nation wide tour that started in South Carolina. This poorly organized, poorly attended event was held in a public park but that didn't deter one teabagger from threatening to kick my ass for using my camera to take this video including his threats. Guns, global warming denying, Christian claims, eco terrorism, and mostly a whole lot of lunacy all wrapped in the American flag.

Compare and contrast to these photos of yesterday's Mississippi rally. How's that not-hopey, not-changey thing goin' for ya?

Larry Halstead just contacted me and added this (slightly paraphrased):

I took my two older sons, 12 and 13 with me, which could have gotten me charged with child endangerment. [Laffy Note: For those who may not realize, he's kidding; that was a joke].

The crazy lady, Nancy Dittman, had previously tried to infiltrate our Democratic club posing as Independent.

Robert Vassuer, who threatened to assault me before he crowned me "President of the Democrat Party" is a previous president of the local GOP club, a shrill tool who tries to impress by always attacking me in newspapers, city council meetings, etc. He's a huge coward that would never had done that, but was pumped up from rally. He got so close his nose touched my lens as he tried to get the mob mentality going against me. His wife saw that and dragged him away before he was arrested.

The speaker, Kevin, is @TheBlackSphere who started in on me on Twitter, started calling me a pedophile and got his followers to do the same for hours (his public strategy for anyone who says tea bagger, but it could cause the loss of my 5 adopted kids plus my reputation). I plan to sue.

What a compassionate, patriotic crowd.

Thank you, Larry, for sharing this with us, and helping to expose the Tea Baggers for who and what they are.

UPDATE: Blog Radio Show where Kevin exposes his own sick, perverted, damaging strategy to attack anyone who uses the word "Tea Bagger" by calling them a Pedophile, here.

The deadly loophole: Gunning for trouble

By GottaLaff

http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/pic/MG/142772~Gun-Crazy-Posters.jpg

Hey kiddies, guess what? Another mentally unbalanced person got their hands on a gun because of guess what?

Go on, guess.

Give up?

The gun show loophole! Yayyy!

Yes, the right wing, anti-government Pentagon shooter, John Patrick Bedell, got his gun at a gun show through the gun show loophole, with no background check. Feel safer yet?

QuickDraw McLoopHole had already been declared too, er, abnormal to buy one through a federally licensed dealer, but pfft! That didn't matter:

Two guns used in high-profile shootings this year at the Pentagon and a Las Vegas courthouse both came from the same unlikely place: the police and court system of Memphis, Tenn.

Law enforcement officials told The Associated Press that both guns were once seized in criminal cases in Memphis. The officials described how the weapons made their separate ways from an evidence vault to gun dealers and to the shooters.

Wow, hmm, gee, how'd that happen?

[O]n the day of the Pentagon shooting, March 4, the Tennessee governor signed legislation revising state law on confiscated guns. Before, law enforcement agencies in the state had the option of destroying a gun. Under the new version, agencies can only destroy a gun if it's inoperable or unsafe.

Seems Version 2.0 needs to be updated.

But with that in mind, it's only natural that oversight would tighten up, right?

[...] 24 states — mostly in the South and West, where gun-rights advocates are particularly strong — have passed 47 new laws loosening gun restrictions.

Gee, that doesn't seem logical. Oops, did I say "logical"? Logic has nothing to do with this!

What, am I nuts?

No, but QuickDraw was:

[T]he weapons first went to licensed gun dealers, but later came into the hands of men who were legally barred from possessing them: one a convicted felon; the other mentally ill.

Change we can't believe in.

But come on, realistically, what are the chances of some psycho ending up finding that one special dealer who would slip him a lethal weapon:

Law enforcement officials say Bedell, a man with a history of severe psychiatric problems, had been sent a letter by California authorities Jan. 10 telling him he was prohibited from buying a gun because of his mental history.

Nineteen days later, the officials say, Bedell bought the Ruger at a gun show in Las Vegas. Such a sale by a private individual does not require the kind of background check that would have stopped Bedell's purchase.

But privatizing stuff is the GOP's answer to everything. What could possible go wrong? Death? Don't be silly. Murder? Ridiculous! Selling lethal weapons to a disturbed individual who would subsequently go on a shooting spree? Impossible!

Here's the deal, gun owners: Nobody's trying to take your firearms from you. But keeping them out of the hands of unstable felons and the mentally ill doesn't do anything to threaten your freedoms.

The real and growing threat is to innocent lives, not the Constitution.

Is Michele Bachmann drinking? "We really need to sober up"

By GottaLaff

http://arizona.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341bf80c53ef01156f6ff896970b-500wi

Michele Bachmann tries to blame President Obama for the "decline in America", and ends up sounding like a drunk with low self esteem:

"I think we are all going to need a self-esteem course or two after that litany and we can't blame anyone for feeling despondent in the midst of all that," Bachmann quipped. [...]

"We are looking at serious long-term damage to the economy and the well being of our people. We really need to sober up…the only people with the power to change this very bad diagnosis is President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and Harry Reid"...

Even her attempted smack downs are one big epic fail.

Tea Partier Charged With Stockpiling Weapons: Palin on "righteous Mission from God"

By GottaLaff

Kate Glass/Gloucester Daily Times A stockpile of weapons and ammunition was found at the Bridge Street home of Gregory Girard on Tuesday night.
/ Staff Photographer

Need more proof of how HateSpew McSmileyFace inspires her followers? Why, here's some now:

The Massachusetts man charged this week with stockpiling weapons after saying he feared an imminent "Armageddon" appears to have been active in the Tea Party movement, and saw Sarah Palin, who he said is on a "righteous 'Mission from God,'" as the only figure capable of averting the destruction of society.

As we reported yesterday, Gregory Girard, a Manchester technology consultant, was found with a stash of military grade weapons, explosive devices including tear gas and pepper ball canisters, camouflage clothing, knives, handcuffs, bulletproof vests and helmets, and night vision goggles, say police. They believe Girard, who pleaded not guilty at his arraignment, was "preparing for domestic and political turmoil," and feared martial law would soon be imposed.

Girard's wife said her husband had recently told her: "Don't talk to people, shoot them instead," and "it's fine to shoot people in the head because traitors deserve it."

Oh, this guy's a real peach. Here's something he posted. Please note the "inner city youths" button:
I have studied the "National Security Force," which is Obama's name for the secret police force he is creating. I have read the new law that gives them the right to operate as an extension of the DoD, carrying firearms, and executing search warrants, executing arrest warrants, and the like. Needless to say, it's a secret police force of some kind, and it appears likely to be created from inner city youths.
So much for that folksy keepy America-y safey thing, eh Sarah? And about that swell suggestion of yours to let the Tea Tantrumers go leaderless... mob rule is so much more preferable. At least Girard had enough lethal weapons for nearly everyone.

Oh, but sharing them would be veering smack dab into socialism. Never mind.

There's a whole lot more here, at TPM.

No, Virginia, there is no Sanity

By GottaLaff

That's it. No, Virginia, there is no Sanity. Sanity has left the building. Sanity is dead. So long, farewell, bye-bye, sanity:
Bachmann's approval rating is 53%, with 41% disapproval. She leads both of her Democratic opponents by substantial margins, ahead of state Sen. Tarryl Clark by 55%-37%, and leading former University of Minnesota regent Maureen Reed by 53%-37%. The pollster notes that the challengers have low name recognition, but the points stands that a well-known incumbent is over the 50-percent mark.
Au revoir, reason. Toodle-oo, marbles. 37% say yes vs. 54% who say no as to whether Michele, who has all the appeal of Norman Bates, is an extremist. That's 54% who think she is a rational human being capable of leading and representing them in Congress.

Michele's seat-- please excuse the visual-- looks to be safe.

VIDEO- Shannyn Moore Show panelist: Palin “A Sociopath?”

By GottaLaff

Shannyn Moore, who you've seen on Countdown with Keith Olbermann and elsewhere also has her own shows on the Radio and Tee Vee Machines.

Here's a tickle-me excerpt from one of her latest, in which an audience member asked "Is Sarah Palin sane?"

Shannyn, now I know why our friendship is blossoming.

Meet the 2010 opposition

By GottaLaff

I've posted most of the sheer garbage from this nutcase's site, but if you must, and if you're into further masochism, go here. He says is running against David Price (D-North Carolina).

It is truly mind-boggling that not only do racist lunatics like this exist, but that they actually represent like-minded zealots.

He references social engineering, which is ironic since he himself seems to be all kinds of "engineering" gone very wrong.

Allow me to use Hutchins' own words against him:

"The RACE CARD does NOT work, once the IDIOTS are EXPOSED."

VIDEO- Rep. Virginia Foxx: Health Care Bill a Greater Threat Than Any Terrorist in the World

By GottaLaff

What a peach:

Let's take a walk down Memory Lane together. Who is this Virginia Foxx we speak of? Let's put on our thinking caps....

She happens to be the very same ClusterFoxx who said Matthew Shepard's murder was "a hoax"; who said “there are no Americans who don’t have healthcare"; who called health care "distracting."

Pretty Foxxed up, huh?

Can somebody explain to me how people like this (and Michele Bachmann, and these 30 accessories to rape) get elected and re-elected? Anyone? Bueller?

EBay stikes items in Dr. Tiller assassin auction

By GottaLaff

http://images.huffingtonpost.com/gen/87711/thumbs/s-TILLER-large.jpg

I discussed this on the Radio Machine with Angie Coiro, and originally covered the details in this post, including all the nifty merchandise:
Online auction house eBay said it has begun taking down several items of anti-abortion memorabilia posted to raise funds for the defense of Scott Roeder, who is accused of killing a Kansas abortion doctor.

The company said Monday the items violated its listing policies.

What a shame. These would have made such swell stocking stuffers:

--A Bible once owned by the woman who shot Dr. George Tiller in 1993, later convicted in a slew of abortion clinic bombings.

--A Catechism written auotgraphed by an anti-abortion activist.

Who wouldn't want those displayed prominently on the family room coffee table?

$$ for Dr. Tiller's assassin- For sale: Abortion clinic-bomber's prison cookbook

By GottaLaff

http://images.huffingtonpost.com/gen/87711/thumbs/s-TILLER-large.jpg

Who's up for a good old fashioned bake sale to raise funds an anti-choice assassin ? Weeee!

An Army of God manual. A prison cookbook compiled by a woman doing time for abortion clinic bombings and arsons. An autographed bullhorn.

These are among the items that abortion foes plan to auction on eBay and other Web sites in a fundraiser for Scott Roeder, the Kansas City man charged with killing Wichita abortion doctor George Tiller.

Nothing says pro-life like supporting a murderer, right boys and girls?

An eBay official said the auction was unusual.

Gee, ya think?

The company would not reveal whether eBay would permit the auction to launch.

EBay does not allow listings that promote or glorify violence, hate, racial or religious intolerance, or items that encourage, promote, facilitate or instruct others to engage in illegal activity,” the company said in a statement.

I kinda think this qualifies. What's eBay waiting for, an arrest warrant?

But these aren't just ordinary items, nosireebob! These include drawings by the killer himself! Autographed drawings! I wonder if the medium was blood.

Regina Dinwiddie, a Kansas City anti-abortion activist, who signed the bullhorn:

“They’re wonderful pencil art drawings,” she said. “They were done in jail.”

Woweekazowee, who could ask for more?

“It has David with a slingshot in one hand and the head of Goliath in his other hand and the name ‘Tiller’ on Goliath’s forehead,” she said. “On the corpse on the ground, it says ‘child-murdering industry.’ ”

How could God possibly disapprove? Why, that there is a sanctified holy, guh-lorious Prison Pic, signed by the smiter his own self. Yeehaw!

Other user-friendly donations include:

An Army of God manual, an underground publication for anti-abortion militants that describes dozens of ways to shut down clinics, including bombing. [...]

I plan to cover up the offending eight pages of bomb recipes and instead insert a note saying that in order to avoid legal problems, we advise our bomb-loving friends to seek their bomb recipes in a U.S. Army Manual, which is approved by the Justice Department,” the donor said.

And here we thought these saintly do-gooders weren't law-abiding. They sure should us!

But wait! There's more!

[A] collection of recipes compiled in prison by Shelley Shannon, the Oregon woman who shot and wounded Tiller in 1993 and was later convicted in a series of abortion clinic arsons and bombings. [...]

One recipe is for prison cheesecake [...]

Mmm, mmm, good! Who could resist something as yummy as Clinic Bomber's Cheesecake? I wonder if they're anything like Pro-Life Cupcakes...

Let's not forget Mr. Bullhorn. That's up for grabs, too! Some lucky ducky will be the ecstatic recipient of that extra special, hand-signed little stocking stuffer! Peace! Joy to the world! Let us pray...

The bullhorn autographed by Dinwiddie is similar to those she used when protesting outside abortion clinics.

My original ones have all been confiscated by police,” Dinwiddie said, “but I’ll have a signed one, since I was the only person in the whole world that’s ever had an injunction against a bullhorn.”

Don'tcha just love one-of-a-kind gifts like that? So special. So thoughtful. So her.

Ooo! Ooo! Who wants to curl up with a good book about violence? Tommy? SueSue?

Michael Bray, an Ohio activist who spent four years in prison for the firebombings of abortion-related facilities on the East Coast in the 1980s, is donating an autographed copy of his book, “A Time to Kill.” The book is described as “an ethical treatise on the use of force in defense of the child in the womb.”

A real page-turner, huh? It's so very reassuring to see how precious life is to these generous souls.

And imagine the excitement over at the Roeder house!

Roeder said in a phone interview that he was excited about the auction.

I bet he's just hopping foot to foot with anticipation. Isn't that just like him?

To read more about these caring, empathetic, life-embracing angels, go here.

UPDATE: I'll be on the Angie Coiro Show (on San Francisco's progressive station Green 960) tomorrow night at 6:15 pm Pacific to talk about this.

Former Bush Advisor: "Some of Santorum's behavior is just a little bizarre."

By GottaLaff

From the Dep't. of Understatements:
Former Bush adviser Mark McKinnon says a presidential bid by former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) is a scary prospect.

"Santorum represents, in my view, much of what is wrong the in the Republican Party. While I disagree with him on some fundamental issues, I am much more concerned with his lack of character."

And then there is this little known tidbit: "I'm a pretty tolerant guy, but beyond his ideology, some of Santorum's behavior is just a little bizarre. For example, Santorum has six children. In 1996, he had son born prematurely who lived for only two hours. He and wife brought the child home and introduced the dead infant to the rest of their children as 'your brother Gabriel' and slept with the body overnight."
Yeah, he's just a little bizarre.

FNC Military Analyst to Explain "Apparent Deserter" Comment on O'Reilly

By GottaLaff

http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/original/Bowe_7.21.bmp

I don't watch Bile O'Lielly, so you'll have to tell me if this has already aired:
Fox News analyst Lt. Col. Ralph Peters will be a guest on "The O'Reilly Factor" tonight, presumably to explain his comments on FNC this weekend that captured Army Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl is, "an apparent deserter."

Original post about this here, including video.

So: What will he come up with? Or, if the show has already aired, what did he say?

VIDEO: Rep. Mike Castle (R-Del) Fends Off the Birthers

By GottaLaff

Listen to the crowd in this video. Good lord, they sound like those crazed, pitchfork-wielding, frenzied mobs out of an old Twilight Zone episode:

A woman gets up, holding a baggie containing her birth certificate, and unleashes a rambling, minute-long tirade about how the president is a “citizen of Kenya.” The crowd hoots and cheers when she’s done. Castle responds, diplomatically: “Well I don’t know what comment that invites. If you’re referring to the president, then he is a citizen of the United States.” That elicits roars and boos from the crowd, so Castle presses on. “You can boo, but he is a citizen of the United States.”

So here’s one of the least conservative members of the House GOP conference, in a state that gave the Obama-Biden ticket 62 percent of the vote, and he has to deal with the angry howling of birthers.
There's that good old fashioned Rushpublic patriotism in action. Remember that? Remember when they'd turn all red in the face and blast any Democrat who dared speak ill of Boy Georgie? After all, our military was in Iraq fighting for our freedom, and we'd been attacked by evildoers. Reverence of King Boy Georgie was mandatory.

How things have changed: Today, above all else, it's "do not support your president", not any more nosireebob, even in times of war, recession, and any other of the kajillion crises that exist... because he's ::dun dun dunnn:: from Kenya!

Moral of the story: Scream, whine, stomp your foot, and demand your country back if your president is black.

Kudos to Rep. Castle for standing up to them.

VIDEO: Fox commentator encourages Taliban to kill captive U.S. soldier

By GottaLaff

UPDATE: Mark Karlin at BuzzFlash came up with the perfect caption for this video:

FOX News "Honors" Cronkite with New Slogan: “AND THAT’S THE WAY IT ISN’T – ON EVERY SINGLE DAY WE BROADCAST.”
So, now, didn't John Sidney McCain "collaborate with the enemy" too? That would be the same J Sid who was the revered Rushpublic presidential candidate only months ago? Oh, silly me. That was Sarah Palin. J Sid was just along for the ride:
[O]n "America's News HQ," guest pundit Ralph Peters suggested something to the effect that the Taliban should "save us the headache" and execute captured 23 year-old American soldier Bowe Bergdahl, because "it looks like" Bergdahl deserted his unit. While prefacing his comments by stressing that a military decision should not be made until all of the facts surrounding Bergdahl's capture are determined, Peters then ignored his own advice and encouraged the Taliban to kill this young man. Fox News' Julie Banderas was visibly shocked at the words coming out of Peters' mouth, but did not challenge any of his statements before awkwardly ending the segment.
Oh my stars. Allowing a commentator to talk about our military that way without so much as a peep? A guest wishing harm on one of our soldiers? That's pretty appalling! Really Faux Noise, you can do better than this.

Oh wait. No you can't.

Paddy Added- More of Peters bullshit here , here and here.

Ranting man’s knife was visible — his hand grenade wasn’t

By GottaLaff

Whether or not this was a politically motivated incident is still unknown, based on this report. But if this nutcase was yet another right wing extremist, or simply someone who escaped from a rubber room, both contribute to the recent uptick in the number of domestic terrorist incidents.

Spreading any message using violence-- no matter whose-- just doesn't say, "Join us. Join the cause. We're here for you. Peace, love, and unity is, you know, so Obama ago." But what it does do is influence those who are on the edge. It needs to stop.

From Philly.com:

Center City employees and shoppers were given quite a scare this morning by a man who was ranting and wielding a knife for nearly an hour at 8th and Market streets, police said.

What they didn't see was the hand grenade that police later recovered from his bag. [...]

When police arrived, they saw the man threatening passers-by with a large army knife. Authorities detained the man and found a hand grenade inside a camouflage backpack he wore, Little said. [...]

The grenade was later determined to be a practice round.

The man, who has not been charged, was taken to Pennsylvania Hospital for psychiatric evaluation.

This kind of stuff is contagious, like the plague.

VIDEO: "Kudos to the shooter. I hope Tiller died a very slow, agonizing & painful death."

By GottaLaff

Here's a "pro-lifer" who couldn't wait to say his vile piece:

Yes, this is what he felt compelled to say upon hearing about an innocent man's murder.

UPDATE, statement from Dr. Tiller's family:

Dan Monnat and Lee Thompson, Dr. George Tiller's attorneys, issued the following statement today at the request of Mrs. Jeanne Tiller, the Tiller's four children and ten grandchildren:

"Today we mourn the loss of our husband, father and grandfather. Today's event is an unspeakable tragedy for all of us and for George's friends and patients. This is particularly heart wrenching because George was shot down in his house of worship, a place of peace.

We would like to express the family's thanks for the many messages of sympathy from our friends and from all across the nation. We also want to thank the law enforcement officers who are investigating this crime.

Our loss is also a loss for the City of Wichita and women across America. George dedicated his life to providing women with high-quality heath care despite frequent threats and violence. We ask that he be remembered as a good husband, father and grandfather and a dedicated servant on behalf of the rights of women everywhere."

Killer "severely disturbed" that Obama elected president

By GottaLaff

Another day, another sicko racist murderer. Here we go again...

The events that led to the shooting deaths of two Okaloosa County sheriff's deputies Saturday began in a small top-floor apartment in Fort Walton Beach - with an argument over a tube of Clearasil.

On Sunday, lawmen still were investigating why Joshua Cartwright, a 28-year-old U.S. Army Reserve soldier with a history of violence, killed Okaloosa County sheriff's deputies Burt Lopez and Warren "Skip" York at a gun range in Crestview.

A few minutes after he killed the deputies, Cartwright was himself killed in a shootout with lawmen in DeFuniak Springs.

"None of it's logical, none of it makes sense," said interim Sheriff Ed Spooner on Sunday. "He'd obviously just got something else in his mind."

What could that "something else" be? And why am I posting about some random nutcase? Here's why:

An offense report filed against Cartwright the day he died outlines an angry husband who threatened his wife, kept guns and knives on hand, was "severely disturbed" that Barack Obama had been elected president, and believed the U.S. government was conspiring against him.

I wonder whose books he might have been reading... assuming he could read. What a sad contradiction to this poll.

VIDEO-- Michele Bachmann: Has DHS Sec. Napolitano Gone "Stark Raving Mad"?

By GottaLaff

Tsk, tsk, tsk. Speaking of stark raving mad, someone prep the rubber room, because, sadly, this government representative, who was actually voted into office and speaks on behalf of a few Americans, is clearly not well:

Yes, Michele, Obama would nab anti-choicers at an airport, but not Osama Bin Laden. You just keep on thinking that.
