"Liberal Hunting Permit" website to me: "Do you really want to mess with me?"

By GottaLaff

A Twitter pal of mine directed me to this site, because it concerned her and she wasn't sure what to do about it.

All I could do for her is promise to expose it:

(click on images to enlarge, and I suggest you do to read the fine print)

His message is loud and clear.

Especially the part of his message in which he threatens his readers (I whited out my information):

And yet, the person who appears to run the site reveals very little about himself other than this:

There are no "photos of Bill".

This is part and parcel of what I've been reporting about all day.

One thing we do not need in this country is more threatening language and/or symbolism.

Right Sarah?

Right-wing blogger Dan Riehl: "Isn't It Time To Euthanize Reid's Wife?"

By GottaLaff

http://www.alan.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/6a00d834527dd469e200e54f115bf18833-800wi-300x213.jpg

You're all well aware of the serious automobile crash that Harry Reid's wife and daughter recently experienced. Mrs. Reid has suffered very serious, longterm injuries. I can't imagine the pain she must be in.

Alan Colmes just pointed me to a post about it... a nasty, disgusting post. Dan Riehl needs to be exposed for the heartless sicko that he is:

If Democrats want so badly to abort babies [...] why are we bothering with someone who has a broken neck and back at 69? It sounds to me like she's pretty well used up and has probably been living off the taxpayers for plenty of years [...]

I don't see that she's worth it at this point, frankly. I can't recall her ever doing anything for me.

And it is, after all, all about Danny Boy, who seems pretty "used up" himself.

Yes, it's all about him: The car accident. The frantic worry about Reid's family. The horror and physical suffering. Wow, how could that insensitive Landra Reid allowed herself to end up hospitalized after all Riehl has done for her?

Come on, Harry - do your civic duty. [...] Pull the plug and get back to work. And don't bill us for a full day today, either. [...] Air freight her home, you can bury her during recess on your own time and dime. Or are you going to bill us for that, too?

I'd love the media to get hold of this story and put this guy out of business, allowing him to join the ranks of the unemployed.

That way he could very well find himself without medical coverage. Wouldn't that be ironic?

Then let's see how he'd feel about the pain of living in the Riehl world.

Who's watching Glenn Beck?

By GottaLaff

http://static.crooksandliars.com/files/movieimages/2009/09/9738.jpg

Tim Rutten has an op-ed in today's L.A. Times about the Anti-Defamation League's scrutiny and condemnation of you-know-who:
For the first time in living memory, the ADL is sounding the alarm about a mainstream media personality: Fox News' Glenn Beck, who also hosts a popular radio show.
Now, we all know that ClusterFox has a whole array of hosts who many of us find offensive. Why single out Blech?
"Beck and his guests have made a habit of demonizing President Obama and promoting conspiracy theories about his administration. ... Beck has even gone so far as to make comparisons between Hitler and Obama."
For someone who says he isn't a Hitler fan, Blech has a funny way of showing it. You see, he has his own radical Plan, with a Capital P (I posted about that a few days ago here):
As Beck wrote on his website, "I know that the bipartisan corruption in Washington that has brought us to this brink and it will not be defeated easily. It will require unconventional thinking and a radical plan to restore our nation to the maximum freedoms we were supposed to have been protecting. ... All of the above will culminate in The Plan, a book that will provide specific policies, principles and, most importantly, action steps that each of us can take to play a role in this Refounding."
All that and he's hawking a book, too. Guess which of the two is his Priority... with a capital P? My guess is it's the same Priority as Fox's. But about that incitement thing....
It's hard to imagine any contemporary cable system dropping Fox News simply because Beck is an offensively dangerous demagogue -- not with his ratings at least. His new foray into politics, though, presents Rupert Murdoch's network with a profound challenge. Is it willing to become the platform for an extremist political campaign, or will it draw a line as even the authoritarian Catholic Church of the 1940s did? CNN recently parted ways with its resident ranter, Lou Dobbs -- who now confirms he's weighing a presidential bid.

Does Fox see a similar problem with Beck -- and, if not, why?
For these bottom feeders it's all about the bottom line, and to get there, they continue to strive for the bottom. Consequences be damned.

Much more here. I skipped a lot.

Tea Partiers to burn Reps. Periello, Pelosi in effigy

By GottaLaff

See how politely the Tea Tantrumers talked over him in this video? Such courteous Americans!

What a wholesome bunch the Tea Tantrumers are! Why, it's just as my friend said a post or two ago. Here's one more example of their compassionate, all-American, rah-rah inclusiveness:

In a move sure to spark controversy, the Danville TEA Party will close their "Fired Up for Freedom" rally by burning Rep. Tom Perriello and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in effigy in response to the passage of landmark healthcare legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives. [...]

Danville TEA Party Chairman Nigel Coleman said, "We were outraged to find that Tom Perriello had voted in favor of this bill. I was with dozens of 5th District voters in his office two days before the vote and we pleaded with him to stand with us against the Pelosi plan."

"At this point we feel we have no representation in Congress. It disturbs me to find out that Perriello literally received a pat on the back from Nancy Pelosi before going to the House floor to vote."
And what healthier, more constructive, democratic way to express that than hanging fellow citizens in effigy? Let's everyone get our families together-- moms, dads, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, grandparents, tots-- and have a good old fashioned lynching next time! You know, for when effigies just aren't enough...

In July, protesters also hung Democratic Rep. Frank Kratovil (MD) in effigy outside his district office. (HT: Blue Virginia and Firedoglake)

Tolerance: Special Comment by my 72-year-old friend

By GottaLaff

http://socialismdoesntwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/stop-the-hate.jpg

My very caring, impassioned 72-year-old Twitter pal, who goes by the name 42bkdodgr, would like to share his feelings about the conservatives' hostile intrusion into what is left of the Republican party, and the resulting split. I am more than happy to oblige.

But first, a personal note from 42bkdodgr:
Many of you may wonder why I chose to use the “ 72 year old friend” as the introduction to my Special Comments. I selected the moniker so readers could see that from my age and life experiences I give a different perspective to the issues of today.
Now for his Special Comment:
Tolerance

In the last couple of month three events have taken place, which for me shows where the Republican Party is heading.

The first event is the New York State 23rd Congressional District election. The local Republican leadership chose Dede Scozzafava as their candidate, whose selection was endorsed by the Republican leadership in Congress and by National Republican Congressional Committee.

Dissatisfied with Ms. Scozzafava positions on abortion, same-sex marriage and taxation; the Conservative wing of the Republican Party led by Sarah Palin and Dick Armey decided to put up their own candidate to defeat the Republican candidate.

We all know how that turned out, the election of Democratic candidate Bill Owens, the first Democrat to hold that District’s seat in over 100 years.

The second event took place on Nov.7th during the voting on the HCR Bill. With all Republicans indicating they would all vote NO on the bill, I wondered if there was at least one representative who knew his constituents were in favor of having a health care reform bill passed.

Well I wasn’t disappointed, a courageous individual, Rep. Anh “Joseph” Cao (R-New Orleans), listening to the needs of his constituents, who were concerned about the rising costs of health care premiums, voted for the HCR Bill with a public option.

Rep Cao did what he was elected to do, represent interests of his constituents and not just support party ideology. I believe there where others who felt the same way but were afraid to go against their party leadership and the conservative wing of the party.

For actually representing the wishes of his constituents, Rep Cao received a lot of hateful words from the right wing of the party. He received such hateful remarks as “The face of an American traitor”, “I will go broke supporting a dog to run against this traitor”, “Go back to Saigon, Vietnam, where you f_ _ _ing belong G_ _K”. Some people even asked that their donations be returned.

The third event involves Sen. Lindsey Graham (R - SC). The Charleston County, S.C., Republican Party censured Sen. Graham for his work with Democrats and GOP moderates. They were upset that Sen. Graham worked with Sen. John Kerry ( D-Mass.) and Joseph Liberman (I-Conn.) on climate change legislation and for also working on a bipartisan basis with members of the Democratic party on immigration reform.

Now what do these three events have in common? Its that the Conservative wing (tea baggers/ Tea Party) of the Republican Party has little or no tolerance for those with different point of views.

The Conservative wing of the Party has indicated they will endorse those Republican candidates in the 2010 primaries who support their ideology (abortions, gay marriage, taxation) or they will select a candidate to oppose them.

When you take into account these three events along with the actions, dress, signs and posters displayed by the protesters at the Town Hall meetings, the 9/12 Rally and the Bachmann “Press Conference” rally, you can see that the Republican Party is slowly being taken over by the far right wing of the party.

When the intentions of a political party’s wing is to drum out those members who have different points of view and expects all followers to be in lock step-- or should I say goose step?-- with their ideology, then the political party that emerges looks no different from a Fascist or Communist Party.
Many thanks again for another timely, thoughtful piece, 42bkdodgr. You never fail to say what so many of us are thinking and feeling.

Mob Rule: Special Comment by my 72-year-old friend

By GottaLaff

My very caring, impassioned 72-year-old Twitter pal, who goes by the name 42bkdodgr, would like to share his feelings about the rampant out-of-control expressions of hatred that have been forced upon us recently.

The Mob Has Taken Over

In my first Special Comment on this site I said I hadn’t seen such hatred in this country since the Civil Rights movement; since then it has continued and has gotten worse.

I also said in another comment that the two most dangerous women in America were Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann. Since then I have come to the conclusion that Bachmann is the one to fear. She uses the same antics of Joseph McCarthy, making outrageous statements, and in some cases without any proof.

Some of Bachmann’s outrageous statements include:

* "What we have to do today is make a covenant, to slit our wrists, be blood brothers on this thing.” referring opposing the HCR Bill.

* Linking swine flu outbreak to Democrats.

* Liberals in Congress should be investigated for being anti-American.

* Thomas Jefferson has told us: having a revolution every now and then is a good thing

* Obama has anti-American views.

* “I want people in Minnesota armed and dangerous on this issue of the energy tax because we need to fight back.”

* Asking tea baggers attending Nov. 5th rally to go “ up and down through the halls, find members of Congress, look at the whites of their eyes and say “ Don’t take away my healthcare””

I believe when you look at the language of the Bachmann’s statements there seems to be a tone of a call to violence and is preaching to mob-like intelligence .

Because of her statements Bachmann has become the darling of the tea baggers, as evidenced by the reception she received at the rally on the Capital steps yesterday against the Democratic Health Care Reform Bill.

During the rally we saw such poster signs as “ Heath Care Reform is the Holocaust”, “Obama and his Marxist Buddies Are After Your Freedom”, Health Care In General, Is Just Like Nazi Germany”, I’m King Of The World (character of Obama) We Know What Happened To The Titanic”, “Kiss Mao Ass”, “Ken-ya Trust Obama”, Obama Takes His Orders From The Rothchilds”. These signs show that to some extent tea baggers are made up of radicals, racists and anti-Semites.

Yet with all these signs Rep. Boehner said he didn’t see any hate coming from the crowd; while he adds fuel to the growing fire saying that the health care bill is the “greatest threat to freedom that I have seen.”

When Bachmann, Boehner and the rest of the Republicans attending the rally make no statement regarding the inappropriateness of the signs being displayed, this only tells me that the mob has taken control of the Republican Party.

Until the moderates regain control of the Republican Party and denounce the antics, words and actions of the tea baggers, Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, Palin and Bachmann the hatred will continue and the division in the country will only get wider.

Lets hope the Republican party regains its senses before a horrific event takes place in this country.
Many thanks again for another timely, truthful, provocative piece, 42bkdodgr. You never fail to say what so many of us are thinking and feeling.

Police Called To NY-23 Polling Sites Due to Hoffman TeaBagger Harassment

By GottaLaff

How pathetic that this isn't at all surprising:

[P]olice had been called to at least two polling sites in St. Lawrence County due to overzealous electioneering (O'Neill called it "voter intimidation") by Doug Hoffman supporters.

"We've gotten reports that people are standing there, covered with Hoffman stickers and yelling anti-choice stuff at voters," said O'Neill, a St. Lawrence native who has been running the party's GOTV effort for Bill Owens in NY-23. [...]

I called over to the St. Lawrence Board of Elections and got GOP Elections Commissioner Debbie Pahler on the line. She confirmed that the police indeed had been called, but she downplayed the incident, saying it's "a routine procedure here in the county."

"We had electioneering within the 100-foot polling marker," Phaler said. "It's my understanding that they were asked to leave and wouldn't leave."
This from the zealots who are adamantly against "government" intrusion. I guess harassment is acceptable, and voter intimidation is dandy, but only if you're a Tea Tantrumer.

Power to the people! Unless they want to vote.

EBay stikes items in Dr. Tiller assassin auction

By GottaLaff

http://images.huffingtonpost.com/gen/87711/thumbs/s-TILLER-large.jpg

I discussed this on the Radio Machine with Angie Coiro, and originally covered the details in this post, including all the nifty merchandise:
Online auction house eBay said it has begun taking down several items of anti-abortion memorabilia posted to raise funds for the defense of Scott Roeder, who is accused of killing a Kansas abortion doctor.

The company said Monday the items violated its listing policies.

What a shame. These would have made such swell stocking stuffers:

--A Bible once owned by the woman who shot Dr. George Tiller in 1993, later convicted in a slew of abortion clinic bombings.

--A Catechism written auotgraphed by an anti-abortion activist.

Who wouldn't want those displayed prominently on the family room coffee table?

Three Percenters: "Attempt to further oppress us at your peril"

By GottaLaff

http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:5MBLO8MR16y6RM:http://www.keepschoolssafe.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/clue_guns_pack.png

3% = 0.03

Tea Tantrumers, Birthers, Tenthers, Deathers, -Ers, -Ers, and more -Ers. Now we have the Three Percenters.

Apparently, these zealots want to party like it's 1775:
During the American Revolution, the active forces in the field against the King's tyranny never amounted to more than 3% of the colonists. They were in turn actively supported by perhaps 10% of the population. [...]

We DO claim that we represent at least 3% of American gun owners, which is still a healthy number somewhere in the neighborhood of 3 million people. [...] We are one such minority. So too are the current enemies of the Founders' Republic. [...]

The Three Percent today are gun owners who will not disarm, will not compromise and will no longer back up at the passage of the next gun control act. Three Percenters say quite explicitly that we will not obey any further circumscription of our traditional liberties and will defend ourselves if attacked. [...] Thus, we are committed to the restoration of the Founders' Republic, and are willing to fight, die and, if forced by any would-be oppressor, to kill in the defense of ourselves and the Constitution that we all took an oath to uphold against enemies foreign and domestic.

We are the people that the collectivists who now control the government should leave alone if they wish to continue unfettered oxygen consumption. We are the Three Percent. Attempt to further oppress us at your peril.

To put it bluntly, leave us the hell alone.
There's nothing quite as bracing as starting my Monday with an all-American death threat.

What a mighty gang of hatriots.

H/t: Greg Skilling, (and Shoq for "hatriots")

UPDATE: The hatriot has disabled embedding of his death threat videos. He went all private on us. What, he's not proud of his revolution? (h/t: ExitPass) UPDATE ON THIS UPDATE: Sorry, ExitPass was referring to this post, on James Manning, not the hatriots in the post you're reading now.

Frank Rich: The G.O.P. Stalinists Invade Upstate New York

By GottaLaff

Frank Rich:

Barack Obama's most devilish political move since the 2008 campaign was to appoint a Republican congressman from upstate New York as secretary of the Army. This week’s election to fill that vacant seat has set off nothing less than a riotous and bloody national G.O.P. civil war. No matter what the results in that race on Tuesday, the Republicans are the sure losers. This could be a gift that keeps on giving to the Democrats through 2010, and perhaps beyond. [...]

That this pastoral setting could become a G.O.P. killing field, attracting an all-star cast of combatants led by Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, William Kristol and Newt Gingrich, is a premise out of a Depression-era screwball comedy. [...]

The battle for upstate New York confirms just how swiftly the right has devolved into a wacky, paranoid cult that is as eager to eat its own as it is to destroy Obama. [...]

Mocking Newt’s presumed 2012 presidential ambitions, Michelle Malkin imagined him appointing Al Sharpton as secretary of education and Al Gore as “global warming czar.” She’s quite the wit.

The wrecking crew of Kristol, Fred Thompson, Dick Armey, Michele Bachmann, The Wall Street Journal editorial page and the government-bashing Club for Growth all joined the Hoffman putsch. Then came the big enchilada: a Hoffman endorsement from Palin on her Facebook page. Such is Palin’s clout that Steve Forbes, Rick Santorum and Tim Pawlenty, the Minnesota governor (and presidential aspirant), promptly fell over one another in their Pavlovian rush to second her motion. They were joined by far-flung Republican congressmen from Kansas, Georgia, Oklahoma and California, not to mention a gaggle of state legislators from Colorado. On Fox News, Beck took up the charge, insinuating that Hoffman’s Republican opponent might be a fan of Karl Marx. [...]

The right’s embrace of Hoffman is a double-barreled suicide for the G.O.P. [...] But it’s even better for Democrats if Hoffman wins. Punch-drunk with this triumph, the right will redouble its support of primary challengers to 2010 G.O.P. candidates they regard as impure. [...]

The more rightists who win G.O.P. primaries, the greater the Democrats’ prospects next year. But the electoral math is less interesting than the pathology of this movement. [...]

The same could be said of Beck, Palin and their acolytes. Though they constantly liken the president to various totalitarian dictators, it is they who are re-enacting Stalinism in full purge mode. [...] The same Republicans who once deplored Democrats for refusing to let an anti-abortion dissident, Gov. Robert Casey of Pennsylvania, speak at the 1992 Clinton convention now routinely banish any dissenters in their own camp.

These conservatives’ whiny cries of victimization also parrot a tic they once condemned in liberals. [...]

This same note of self-martyrdom was sounded in a much-noticed recent column by the former Nixon hand Pat Buchanan. Ol’ Pat sounded like the dispossessed antebellum grandees in “Gone With the Wind” when lamenting the plight of white working-class voters. “America was once their country,” he wrote. “They sense they are losing it. And they are right.”

They are right. That America was lost years ago, and no national political party can thrive if it lives in denial of that truth. [...]

That changing complexion is part of why the McCain-Palin ticket lost every demographic group by large margins in 2008 except white senior citizens and the dwindling fifth of America that’s still rural. It’s also why the G.O.P. has been in a nosedive since the inauguration [...]

Only in the alternative universe of the far right is Obama a pariah and Palin the great white hope. [...] To the uninitiated, the tea party crowd comes across like the barflies in “Star Wars.”

There is only one political opponent whom Obama really has to worry about at this moment: Hamid Karzai. It’s Afghanistan and joblessness, not the Stalinists of the right, that have the power to bring this president down.

I chopped this piece up. Please read it unchopped here.

eBay refuses to allow auction for Roeder’s defense fund

By GottaLaff

Earlier I posted the audio of my appearance on Angie Coiro's radio show discussing my post about this very topic. At that time, as of last night, we weren't sure of eBay's position, although we highly suspected it would be this:

Based on the details we know about the anticipated listings, we believe these would violate our policy regarding offensive material,” the company said in a statement to The Kansas City Star. “EBay will not permit the items in question to be posted to the eBay site, and they will be removed if they are posted.”

The announcement came the same day that Tiller’s family implored eBay to prevent the auction.

“These materials contain hate messages, glorify violence against abortion doctors who provide constitutionally protected medical services, and instruct on means of violence, including bombing, of abortion clinics,” said Lee Thompson, an attorney for the Tiller family, in a letter sent to eBay on Tuesday and approved by Tiller’s widow, Jeanne Tiller.

“We urge you to deny access to the resources of eBay for this reprehensible and vile ‘auction.’ ”

Done. Good. And expected.

AUDIO: Laffy on the radio talking anti-abortion fundraiser for Dr. Tiller's assassin

By GottaLaff

I was on the Radio Machine with the absolutely wonderful Angie Coiro (on San Francisco's progressive station Green 960) Monday night, discussing the story about anti-choicers raising money on e-Bay for the legal defense of Dr. George Tiller's assassin.

If you missed the Big News, I now have a regular radio spot with her every Friday night at 6:45 Pacific!

I lerves me the Angie; it's like talking to my best friend...

...only in front of thousands and thousands of people.

Okay, I just made myself nervous.

$$ for Dr. Tiller's assassin- For sale: Abortion clinic-bomber's prison cookbook

By GottaLaff

http://images.huffingtonpost.com/gen/87711/thumbs/s-TILLER-large.jpg

Who's up for a good old fashioned bake sale to raise funds an anti-choice assassin ? Weeee!

An Army of God manual. A prison cookbook compiled by a woman doing time for abortion clinic bombings and arsons. An autographed bullhorn.

These are among the items that abortion foes plan to auction on eBay and other Web sites in a fundraiser for Scott Roeder, the Kansas City man charged with killing Wichita abortion doctor George Tiller.

Nothing says pro-life like supporting a murderer, right boys and girls?

An eBay official said the auction was unusual.

Gee, ya think?

The company would not reveal whether eBay would permit the auction to launch.

EBay does not allow listings that promote or glorify violence, hate, racial or religious intolerance, or items that encourage, promote, facilitate or instruct others to engage in illegal activity,” the company said in a statement.

I kinda think this qualifies. What's eBay waiting for, an arrest warrant?

But these aren't just ordinary items, nosireebob! These include drawings by the killer himself! Autographed drawings! I wonder if the medium was blood.

Regina Dinwiddie, a Kansas City anti-abortion activist, who signed the bullhorn:

“They’re wonderful pencil art drawings,” she said. “They were done in jail.”

Woweekazowee, who could ask for more?

“It has David with a slingshot in one hand and the head of Goliath in his other hand and the name ‘Tiller’ on Goliath’s forehead,” she said. “On the corpse on the ground, it says ‘child-murdering industry.’ ”

How could God possibly disapprove? Why, that there is a sanctified holy, guh-lorious Prison Pic, signed by the smiter his own self. Yeehaw!

Other user-friendly donations include:

An Army of God manual, an underground publication for anti-abortion militants that describes dozens of ways to shut down clinics, including bombing. [...]

I plan to cover up the offending eight pages of bomb recipes and instead insert a note saying that in order to avoid legal problems, we advise our bomb-loving friends to seek their bomb recipes in a U.S. Army Manual, which is approved by the Justice Department,” the donor said.

And here we thought these saintly do-gooders weren't law-abiding. They sure should us!

But wait! There's more!

[A] collection of recipes compiled in prison by Shelley Shannon, the Oregon woman who shot and wounded Tiller in 1993 and was later convicted in a series of abortion clinic arsons and bombings. [...]

One recipe is for prison cheesecake [...]

Mmm, mmm, good! Who could resist something as yummy as Clinic Bomber's Cheesecake? I wonder if they're anything like Pro-Life Cupcakes...

Let's not forget Mr. Bullhorn. That's up for grabs, too! Some lucky ducky will be the ecstatic recipient of that extra special, hand-signed little stocking stuffer! Peace! Joy to the world! Let us pray...

The bullhorn autographed by Dinwiddie is similar to those she used when protesting outside abortion clinics.

My original ones have all been confiscated by police,” Dinwiddie said, “but I’ll have a signed one, since I was the only person in the whole world that’s ever had an injunction against a bullhorn.”

Don'tcha just love one-of-a-kind gifts like that? So special. So thoughtful. So her.

Ooo! Ooo! Who wants to curl up with a good book about violence? Tommy? SueSue?

Michael Bray, an Ohio activist who spent four years in prison for the firebombings of abortion-related facilities on the East Coast in the 1980s, is donating an autographed copy of his book, “A Time to Kill.” The book is described as “an ethical treatise on the use of force in defense of the child in the womb.”

A real page-turner, huh? It's so very reassuring to see how precious life is to these generous souls.

And imagine the excitement over at the Roeder house!

Roeder said in a phone interview that he was excited about the auction.

I bet he's just hopping foot to foot with anticipation. Isn't that just like him?

To read more about these caring, empathetic, life-embracing angels, go here.

UPDATE: I'll be on the Angie Coiro Show (on San Francisco's progressive station Green 960) tomorrow night at 6:15 pm Pacific to talk about this.

Video- Gays And Evangelicals Face Off As Fort Worth 'Kiss-in' Gets Rowdy

Kissing is icky. /rolls eyes

FORT WORTH, Texas, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- A Fort Worth, Texas, "kiss-in" organized by a gay action group met with opposing, mostly-evangelical, counter-demonstrators, organizers said.

The two groups Saturday engaged in more shouting through bullhorns than kissing, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Sunday.

"This is the most homophobic place that I've ever lived in. I'm concerned about my safety in the Stockyards and in the rest of Fort Worth. The constant drumbeat of the religious right telling us that we're sinners and deserve to go to hell is more than I can stomach," Joe Remsik, 37, the leader of the Fort Worth chapter of Queer Liberation, said.

TPC Psycho Watch: Homeland Security Report Warns Of Rising Right-Wing Extremism

By GottaLaff

Unfortunately, I wasn't far off in my earlier post. Hence, TPC Psycho Watch, the sequel:

If you think the conservative "Tea Party" movement is daunting then take a look at a new report issued by the Department of Homeland Security that says right-wing extremism is on the rise throughout the country.

Reuters sums up some of the information in the report [...]:

DHS had no specific information about pending violence and said threats had so far been "largely rhetorical."

But it warned that home foreclosures, unemployment and other consequences of the economic recession "could create a fertile recruiting environment for right-wing extremists"...

The report is getting a lot of push back from angry conservative bloggers like Michelle Malkin:

By contrast, the piece of crap report issued on April 7 is a sweeping indictment of conservatives. [...] My b.s. detector went off the chart, and yours will, too, if you read through the entire report -- which asserts with no evidence that an unquantified "resurgence in rightwing extremist recruitment and radicalizations activity" is due to home foreclosures, job losses, and...the historical presidential election.

Moe Lane from RedState.com asks "Are you a Rightwing Extremist, too?":

Why? Well, it's a document that discusses the potential threats that we can expect from "rightwing extremists" (no hyphen, for some reason) in the coming months; there's the usual stuff about guns, illegal immigration, and disgruntled war veterans, plus the new wrinkle of our having elected an African-American President. The report concludes, unsurprisingly, that we have to worry more about "lone wolves and small terrorist cells" than anything else.

American Legion National Commander David K. Rehbein also responded to a segment of the report warning that Iraq and Afghanistan veterans might be ripe recruits because of their combat skills.

The best that I can say about your recent report is that it is incomplete. [...]

The American Legion is well aware and horrified at the pain inflicted during the Oklahoma City bombing, but Timothy McVeigh was only one of more than 42 million veterans who have worn this nation's uniform during wartime. To continue to use McVeigh as an example of the stereotypical "disgruntled military veteran" is as unfair as using Osama bin Laden as the sole example of Islam.

Good Odds that Rupert Murdoch Will be Responsible for the Next Timothy McVeigh or Assassination Attempt

By GottaLaff

Our pal Mark Karlin has something to say about the simmering mess of Republicans who are trying their best to stir up a revolution:

Yes, with the civil war talk on the program of the recently acquired FOX News demagogue, Glenn Beck, inflammatory talk by Sean Hannity, and Rush Limbaugh's nativist rants that equate Obama to something akin to an amalgamation of Karl Marx and Adolf Hitler, the right-wing media is stirring up the dangerous angry white male resentment to a dangerous frenzied pitch.

And we all know where that ended up with Timothy McVeigh and the militia movement of the '90s, which was enabled by the right-wing media barons -- such as Rupert Murdoch -- to create a literal armed militia movement against the government of the United States.

He refers back to our post about Sean Hannity's website of armed rebellion, military coup, and secession. In fact, he refers to a lot of things, and goes on to suggest what we should do about all this:
Call it treasonous, call it demagoguery, call it treachery: it is what comes down the pike when the wealthy Democratic elites are more content to fund organizations that criticize the apocalyptic, brown-shirted Murdoch media barons rather than buying up media and delivering an alternative message that emphasizes loyalty to the truth, Constitution and democracy. [...]

The reality is that the only thing that matters in media is owning it. Murdoch knows that and couldn't give a horse's fart for what Media Matters has to say, nor does CBS which just hired a Democratic-hating Republican stalwart as their senior communications executive.

Nor do any of the mainstream corporate media: including radio, television and print. They will just keep on doing what they are doing because they own it and they know what they want: an oligarchy.

The troops for this formidable army of images, mistruths, and emotional manipulation are the angry white males, the guys who have felt displaced by minorities and women and immigrants ever since the Civil Rights and Feminist upheaval began in the '60s.

And these displaced white guys are armed to the teeth, courtesy of the NRA and the senators and representatives who lie down like doormats for the gun lobby in Congress.

And bristling with guns -- including the .50 caliber sniper rifle that is legal in all but California -- they feel enabled and patriotic in rising up against the legitimate Constitutional government of the United States. [...]

This is what we saw in the Clinton administration that led to the domestic terrorist Oklahoma bombing and trumped up impeachment.

And before the right-wing media was as consolidated as it is today, we saw our liberal leaders gunned down one by one in the '60s, resulting in the election of Richard Nixon -- and the beginning of the well-funded corporate mainstream media consolidation owned by people beholden only to the oligarchy, not the American public.

Yes, there are exceptions, but they are few in number, far too few. [...]

But when the armed angry white males decide to act because of the Murdoch/Limbaugh et al. incitement to rise up ringing in their ears, the blood will be on the hands of Rupert and his fellow right-wing corporate media barons -- and he won't be sorry for it.

He'll only feel one thing: Mission accomplished.

Strong words. I'm glad he spoke them. Your turn.

Pat Robertson Vs Rush Limbaugh

Oh my, doncha know the Great Greasy One™ will bust a vein over this. From an interview by US News & World Report-

So you don't subscribe to Rush Limbaugh's "I hope he fails" school of thought?

That was a terrible thing to say. I mean, he's the president of all the country. If he succeeds, the country succeeds. And if he doesn't, it hurts us all. Anybody who would pull against our president is not exactly thinking rationally.
That's what happens when you pickle your brain in 100% high quality Hillbilly Heroin Pat.

Ugly Churchill Bust + President Obama = WingNut Frenzy

By GottaLaff

Would you want a bust in your home that looks like this...

http://epstein.3forming.com/Assets/Images/Misc/itemGalleryFull/Winston%20Churchill.jpg
...which kind of reminds you of this:
http://hcl.harvard.edu/hfa/images/films/1999junaug/mummy.jpg
Let's go one step further and two steps deeper. It's also reminiscent of this...
Being a strong proponent of Britain as an international power, Churchill would often meet such moments with direct action. One example was his dispatch of British troops to Kenya to deal with the Mau Mau rebellion.
...which hits home because of this:
Barack Obama’s grandfather was imprisoned and brutally tortured by the British during the violent struggle for Kenyan independence, according to the Kenyan family of the US President-elect.

Hussein Onyango Obama, Mr Obama’s paternal grandfather, became involved in the Kenyan independence movement while working as a cook for a British army officer after the war. He was arrested in 1949 and jailed for two years in a high-security prison where, according to his family, he was subjected to horrific violence to extract information about the growing insurgency.

The African warders were instructed by the white soldiers to whip him every morning and evening till he confessed,” said Sarah Onyango, Hussein Onyango’s third wife, the woman Mr Obama refers to as “Granny Sarah”.
In other words, President Obama may be remembering this:
Churchill has less happy connotations for Mr Obama than those American politicians who celebrate his wartime leadership. It was during Churchill’s second premiership that Britain suppressed Kenya’s Mau Mau rebellion. Among Kenyans allegedly tortured by the colonial regime included one Hussein Onyango Obama, the President’s grandfather.
...which could have been a factor in President Obama's returning the bust (other than the fact that it is ugly as sin, and after all, it is his house)...

... which leads us to a 9/11-infused reaction from The Land of Wingnuttia that sounds a little something like this:
Barack Obama loves Lincoln. [...] But it looks like we are finding one great leader that Barack Obama doesn't like so much: Winston Churchill.

It appears that President Obama is dissing the Brit's most famous and stalwart leader by quickly returning the most famous bust of the man loaned to this country by the United Kingdom in the aftermath of 9/11. The return of the bust of Churchill flustered the British government because they didn't ask for it to be returned. Our best ally was nonplussed and even quickly told Obama he could keep it in the Oval Office where Bush had displayed the piece of art. Obama told them no thanks which made the Brits even more amazed.

So, Barack Obama, the man that would "fix" our "bad image" with the rest of the world, we were told by the media, has just dissed Churchill after only a month in office? [...]

I mean, this abrupt return of the Churchill statue is sort of odd. Would it have hurt anything to keep the thing?

...which resulted in Comments like these:
  • Obviously, he had to make space for a bust of Ayatollah Khomeini.
  • Naw, he is probably shopping for busts of Fredrick Engles or Karl Marx.
  • Obama has a room in the White House with nothing but Che statues. He has coffee with them in the morning...
  • It is Barak [sic] Obama, not GWB, that is proving to be the real dunce in the White House, go figure.
  • Obama wasn't dissin' the Brits. He was just making room for the bust of the First Lady.
If the president hopes to bring us together as "one America", he sure has his work cut out for him.

Woman arrested in Ariz. on terrorism charges, threatens Obama

G-d damn it, this boils my fracking blood. The Terrorists are here and damn proud of themselves. I realize that this woman is mentally ill, but something is fueling this, and I damn well know what it is. See video above if you don't believe me.

WILLIAMS - A New Mexico woman has been arrested on terrorism charges after police say she rammed her truck into a fuel tanker and tried to ignite it.

Williams police were called to a gasoline station Thursday after a woman rammed her truck into the tanker, which was unloading fuel at the time.

Officers and the fuel truck driver wrestled the woman to the ground before she could ignite the fuel storage tanks with a cigarette and lighter.

Before the incident, police said the woman had threatened customers and clerks to blow up the business and threatened to kill President Barack Obama.
Oh, and don't forget this from earlier in the week- White Supremacist, Angry Over Obama, Killed With Dirty Bomb Components In House.
