Here is the audio of the Michelangelo Signorile Show that I did with Lizz Winstead (in for Signorile).
It was a veritable Palinpalooza:
It was like two girlfriends chatting. Lizz is so gracious, so much fun, and I thank her again for inviting me to join her.
For the record, Not Joe the Not Plumber is no longer a McCain supporter. I took my info from a report that has since been corrected.
Major thank you to Tim Corrimal for grabbing this off Sirius/XM for me.

"Liberal Hunting Permit" website to me: "Do you really want to mess with me?"
By GottaLaff
A Twitter pal of mine directed me to this site, because it concerned her and she wasn't sure what to do about it.
All I could do for her is promise to expose it:

His message is loud and clear.

Especially the part of his message in which he threatens his readers (I whited out my information):

And yet, the person who appears to run the site reveals very little about himself other than this:

This is part and parcel of what I've been reporting about all day.
One thing we do not need in this country is more threatening language and/or symbolism.
Right Sarah?

No website for Scott Brown
By GottaLaff
Looks like newly elected Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) still doesn't have a web site. Maybe the snow has slowed him down, but it's surprising given his campaign's strong Internet presence.Maybe someone should show Limpy McLimpington how to maintain a hard drive.

GeoCities' time has expired, Yahoo closing the site today
Truly the passing of an era. My first computer was very important to me, it took quite a while for me to save up and get over the nervousness to buy one. Second thing I did (after figuring out AOL was shite) was to set up a GeoCities page.
We always imagined how this might end: GeoCities would finally take down all of the animated "under construction" signs, and we'd hear one last Midi file to the tune of horns playing taps.
Instead, GeoCities will probably go down with a whimper today.
Time is up for Yahoo Inc.'s scheduled closing of perhaps the most significant virtual museum in recent history. Years ago a central meeting place for a massive chunk of American Web surfers, GeoCities will lock its doors and take millions of pages offline.
GeoCities allowed anyone to build a custom Web page for free and reserved a small amount of virtual storage to keep pictures and documents. It was perhaps the first mainstream example of an open, participatory and personal Internet.

RNC website cost $1.4 million, 5 times more than Dem site
By GottaLaff
Ladies and gentleman, this is what $1.4 million dollars can buy if you are a Rushpublic:
And they want us to trust them with a budget? If I were the GOP, I'd think twice before starting in with how well they manage the big bucks. Exhibit A:
$1.4 million could buy a lot of health insurance and cover a whole slew of mortgage payments. Instead, it went toward websites that could have been designed more effectively and economically by little 4 1/2-year-old Kylie:The Republican National Committee (RNC) has spent $1.4 million on web sites and services, much of which was spent on the new GOP.com, which was released just over two weeks ago.
The report comes from the Sunlight Foundation, which used Federal Election Commission expense reports to calculate their total. The amount is higher than experts expected the project to cost and is five times more than the Democratic National Committee (DNC) spent building democrats.org.

“It feels as though too much focus has been placed on flashy features to the detriment of usability,” said Jamie Newell of Washington-based 7AZ Web Design. The site’s reliance on a mish-mash of technologies make it inaccessible to some, including those on mobile devices, he added, “making it impossible to navigate the site and ultimately hindering the message they are trying to deliver.”Gee, that pretty much describes the party in general, Sarah Palin, et al. specifically.
No wonder only 20% of respondents will identify themselves as Rushpublics. I'd be ashamed to admit that, too, if I were in their sad little shoesies.

Tucker "Drudge" Carlson to launch right-leaning HuffPo alternative
By GottaLaff

Pundit Tucker Carlson publicly announced Tuesday that a right-leaning news site resembling the Huffington Post he's been planning will go live within weeks.
Carlson will launch TheDailyCaller.com, which he said would focus on reporting on the Obama administration and "adding facts to the conversation."
Facts? So he's planning on a departure from his past punditiocy?
"We are a general-interest newspaper-format style site," Carlson told conservative bloggers at the Heritage Foundation on Tuesday. "There just aren't enough people covering this administration and telling the people what's going on."
... because if there's one thing that's been lacking, it's Obama news. Good journalistic eye, Schmucker.
"Tell the truth, and be accurate," Carlson said of the venture's goals. "It's very important to live up to the basic standards of journalism."
What took you so long?
That's because there is no future of the Rushpublic Party... which bodes really well for The Daily Caller.Carlson said that the site's reporters would share in the profits based on how much traffic is drawn in by their work. He said the site would seek to "drive" the news, similar to the Drudge Report, the Huffington Post, the New York Times, and other major news outlets. (The site's motto, Carlson said, is "every seven minutes," and seeks to be "even faster than Drudge.") [...]
"It will not be a forum for discussing the future of the Republican Party," Carlson explained.

Obama administration launches data Web site
Jeebus, pretty soon we're going to need a database of their websites...
WASHINGTON (CNN) – The Obama administration is making government data more accessible with the launch of a new Web site Thursday.
An Office of Management and Busget representative tells CNN that in the next two to three weeks, the administration expects to use the new site, data.gov, to host more than 200,000 'datasets' — groupings of governmental information like the results of the last government survey of residential energy use.
The site is currently home to 46 'raw' datasets and 27 information tools, the OMB said in a statement announcing the site.

Transparency: Stimulus site gets 3,000 hits per second
By GottaLaff

But that's cool, V.P. Joe, because it hurts so good. The website President Obama said will allow Americans to monitor the spending of the $787 billion recovery plan is generating intense traffic, a senior administration official said Wednesday.
Peter Orszag, Obama's director of the Office of Management and Budget, said recovery.gov received 3,000 hits a second upon its launch last week. [...]
"We have to go beyond normal procedures to a higher level of transparency," Orszag said.
Biden, who called the effort to track the money "unprecedented," also said he would be "a pain in the neck" and "intrusive" in making sure the money is spent wisely.

Recovery dot gov.
By GottaLaff

The administration's Web site showing how stimulus money is spent, state-by-state, is up and running today, per the White House."Today, the White House launched www.recovery.gov -- an unprecedented step to increase transparency in government," the White House said in a press release. "The website features a searchable database, allowing Americans to see how and where their tax dollars are being spent. Following the passage of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the website will include a state-by-state report on the impact of law as well a breakdown of spending in the bill by sector.
A searchable database? What a concept! It must not be in that super-secret, evil unsearchable pdf format then, huh?

Obama v. Bush: Searching their White House web sites
By GottaLaff
An early indication of greater transparency from the federal government can be seen at the new White House web site.Change. It's here.
According to Jason Kottke, the Bush administration set more than 2,400 rules to prevent search engines from indexing certain material on the site. The new Obama site eliminates nearly all of these rules.

Change we can comment about
By GottaLaff
Whenever someone expresses doubts that Obama will bring change to this country, tell them it's not limited to cabinet members, Clintonesque or otherwise. We, the people, are as responsible as anyone for making a difference, as is evidenced by our choice for president.Sometimes, the change is enough to make your head spin. This is one of those moments.
Here's the status quo: A president who has overt contempt for public opinion, who shields himself from opposing views and whose idea of White House Web site interactivity is a video of his dog.
And here's the change: The Obama transition team is actually soliciting public comments on its Web site, reading them and responding to them.
If we are consistently loud and clear, we can make things happen. We already have. Now Obama has opened a door, providing us with a wonderful opportunity to vocalize.
While that, in itself, is a very welcome contrast/change, we have the responsibility to follow through, make our opinions known, and keep the communication lines open.

VIDEO: RNC Launches Feel Good Website
By GottaLaff
Poor, desperate Rebubbies! They need a comedy binky too! Looks like they're giving us another one of our own though, considering they included none other than GW Bush in this "feel good" video:
The Republican National Committee today stepped back into the competition for allegiances today, launching a new website that invites Republicans to declare their support for the party and share the reasons they considered themselves to be Republicans. RNC chairman Mike Duncan is said to want a second term -- his staff insists they haven't discussed the idea with him -- so this might be interpreted as the beginning of Mr. Duncan's volunteer listening tour.UPDATE: Link to website: http://www.republicanforareason.com/intro.aspx

Website- McCains For Obama
Sure, old Mac’s got a fantastic last name. True, he’s acknowledged that global warming exists and torture is mean. And yes, he can take six men to the ground using only a shoe horn and length of dental tape. But as much as we’d love to share a surname with the most powerful man in the World, these things hardly qualify John McCain to pull this country out of our eight-year catastrophest and into a brighter, healthier, more peaceful tomorrow.
So unite, McCains of the world! Because while we clearly have the superior last name, Obama’s no doubt the man for the job.

Hillary Campaign Aides Buy 2012 Website
By GottaLaff
But unofficially, who does she associate with?A company associated with Hillary Clinton's top presidential campaign advance staff has purchased a website domain that hints of a 2012 presidential bid for the vanquished senator from New York.
HRC2012.com was bought by the Markham Group on June 8, according to whois.com
How many comments from Hillary supporters do you suppose this post will get? Hands?A picture of Clinton pops up when the company's website is called up.
Mo Elleithee, a Clinton spokesman, said that Clinton officially associates herself with three websites: hillpac.com, for her political action committee, hillaryclinton.com, for her presidential campaign and now her '12 Senate re-election campaign, and a separate site dedicated to retiring her presidential debt.
In 2006, HillaryClinton.com was used as the principle Senate re-election site, so it's not clear why a separate 2012 site would be required.
If Obama loses in November, Clinton would have to pick between running for re-election and running for president.
Hmmm, let me think real hard. What would Hillary do?
