Tea Partiers to burn Reps. Periello, Pelosi in effigy

By GottaLaff

See how politely the Tea Tantrumers talked over him in this video? Such courteous Americans!

What a wholesome bunch the Tea Tantrumers are! Why, it's just as my friend said a post or two ago. Here's one more example of their compassionate, all-American, rah-rah inclusiveness:

In a move sure to spark controversy, the Danville TEA Party will close their "Fired Up for Freedom" rally by burning Rep. Tom Perriello and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in effigy in response to the passage of landmark healthcare legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives. [...]

Danville TEA Party Chairman Nigel Coleman said, "We were outraged to find that Tom Perriello had voted in favor of this bill. I was with dozens of 5th District voters in his office two days before the vote and we pleaded with him to stand with us against the Pelosi plan."

"At this point we feel we have no representation in Congress. It disturbs me to find out that Perriello literally received a pat on the back from Nancy Pelosi before going to the House floor to vote."
And what healthier, more constructive, democratic way to express that than hanging fellow citizens in effigy? Let's everyone get our families together-- moms, dads, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, grandparents, tots-- and have a good old fashioned lynching next time! You know, for when effigies just aren't enough...

VIDEO: Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid ‘Burn In Hell!’ Contest

By GottaLaff

On the YouTube page, the video is called "satirical". I'm sure he figures that will make him devoid of all responsibility for the results of its hate-filled content.

Cue Twilight Zone theme... Imagine if you will, the Democrats pulling something like this. Now imagine the resulting 32 news cycles of condemnation and predictions of a doomed Democratic party.

Next stop, the Zealot Zone:

One of the most notorious far-right activists is Randall Terry, who founded the organization Operation Rescue, a radical anti-choice group. [...]

Terry has launched a contest to encourage people to make videos burning House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) in effigy. Randall Terry’s press release states:

Join a Contest! Win Prizes!

Who Can make the best “Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid BURN IN HELL!” video?

First prize: Expenses paid for weekend here in DC during Roe vs Wade anniversary, Jan 22-24, including pro-life training seminar (Includes travel stipend!), and full Insurrecta Nex television series. [...]

Send link of your video by NOVEMBER 15, 2009 to: Burninhell@overturnroe.com

Legal Mumbo Jumbo: Obey local laws on open flames; be careful; if under 18, do not burn Nancy Pelosi in effigy unless your mom or dad is with you, and gives you permission, and strikes the match; do not burn yourself; do not burn another human being; do not burn small animals; do not burn large animals; do not burn anyone from PETA; and remember: this is not a threat to Nancy Pelosi’s or Harry Reid’s person…it is a prophetic witness of what awaits them when they die if they do not repent for this horrific sin.

See? It's not a threat. It's all in good fun.

Cue: Twilight Zone theme... fade to black.

Kentucky grand jury won't charge two who hung Obama effigy

By GottaLaff

An effigy for an effigy:

A Kentucky grand jury refused Tuesday to indict two men who hung an effigy of Barack Obama from a tree last fall on the University of Kentucky campus, their lawyer said.

The grand jury dismissed charges of second-degree burglary, theft by unlawful taking and disorderly conduct against Hunter Bush, 21, and Joe Fischer, 22, a UK senior, lawyer Fred Peters said Tuesday. [...]

UK police said the two men told them the act was in response to news reports that an effigy of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin had been hung in California.

The couple who hung the eBay-worthy Palin effigy were not indicted either, which didn't sit well at all with one commenter over at the L.A. Times blog back in October 2008 :

This is a hate crime.
It's artsy-fartsy.
Even though Palin isn't BLACK- it portrays violence.
If this was an effigy of OBAMA- their house would have been burned down already.

Just a preview of the "justice" that will be to come- economic or otherwise that will be- if Obama is elected.

God save us.

McCain-Palin 2008

Call me crazy, but I'm guessing that this distraught commenter wouldn't be too broken up over the news of the two UK guys getting a pass.

Obama Effigy Hung From Oregon Campus Tree

By GottaLaff

Of all places, Oregon. And in 2008. Sick and sickening:

Administrators at an Oregon college are trying to get to the bottom of who hung a cardboard effigy of Barack Obama from a campus tree Tuesday. The incident at George Fox University appeared to be in protest of a scholarship program geared toward minorities.

A George Fox University employee discovered the life-size cutout of the Democratic presidential candidate hanging from a campus tree with a fishing line around its neck. Posted on the cardboard effigy was a sign that read "Act Six Reject." Act Six is a program that promotes campus diversity and urban leadership. It annually awards full scholarships to up to 10 students most of whom -- but not all -- are minorities. [...]

"We are not able to establish this as a crime. It is an expression of free speech," said Sgt. Tim Weaver of the Newberg police. Weaver said police notified the Secret Service and the FBI, but the department cannot do much more. A Portland FBI official said the bureau was looking into the matter but would not say whether it would launch a formal investigation. [...]

In a letter drafted to Obama, Baker apologized for the incident and made clear that it did not reflect the college's views on his candidacy.
