Kyrgaz government apparently overthrown

Disturbing. Wonder how long before the Tea Baggers use this as an example of what they should do?

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, April 7 (UPI) -- Protesters appeared to have overthrown the government of Kyrgyzstan, witnesses said Wednesday, after at least 17 people died in violent demonstrations.

Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev fled Bishkek, the capital, on his airplane and opposition leaders declared they were forming their own government, The New York Times reported.

During the violent confrontation in the capital, police fired bullets, tear gas and stun grenades into a crowd of thousands that gathered in front of the presidential offices, witnesses said. At least 100 people were wounded.

Attention Tea Partiers: $5 Fee to Overthrow the Government

By GottaLaff

(click on image to enlarge; via)

Hey subversives! Tired of the same ol', same ol' government? Don't think the Tea Tantrumers are doing enough? Well folks, you're in luck! For a measly five-- count 'em, five-- smackeroos, you can overthrow the bums!

"Since 1951, South Carolina has had a law on its books requiring anyone looking to overthrow the government to, well, register with the government," CBS News reports.

If only these people had known! And these.

All ya gotta do is list the "name of subversive organization" and the name and address of its "chief agent." Quick. Simple. Easy as 1-2-bang!

That's right, ladies and gents, just answer this question: "Do you or your organization directly or indirectly advocate, advise, teach or practice the duty or necessity of controlling, seizing or overthrowing the government of the United States, the state of South Carolina or any political division thereof?"... and just like that, you're in!

Yes, if you act now, and come up with five American dollars-- that's right, using the very currency of those you want to kick out-- you too can topple the government of the U. S. of A.!

Tell your friends! And thank you, South Carolina!

Party Poopers: Tea partiers attack convention

By GottaLaff

Ruh-roh! A revolution against the revolution:
Four Tennessee tea party activists who said they couldn’t afford the $550 tickets to the National Tea Party Convention staged a guerilla news conference just outside of the event to challenge its representation of the movement.

“There are a lot of citizens in the state of Tennessee today who could not afford to be here… particularly in this economy,” said Antonio Hinton, a 37-year old tea party activist from Knoxville. [...]

All four of the men protesting the convention are part of a recently formed coalition of 34 tea party groups from around Tennessee that does not include the group behind the convention. The four contended the coalition, the Tennessee Tea Party Coalition, www.tntpc.us is more representative of the conservative populist movement, whose members have nonetheless chafed at being associated too closely with the Republican Party and its political leaders.

What are white Arizonans so afraid of?

(close up with added highlighting)

Why do so many white people need so many guns? Are they revving up for that Palin-supported, Tancredo-infested Tea Bagger Revolution?

Or are they just very concerned about an impending uptick in armed Arizona burglars?

Or could it be the New Rules?

Billboard: Prepare for war... against our government

By GottaLaff

Via Think Progress:
This billboard replaces one that warned that the socialist “Obama-Nation” is “coming for you.” It’s unclear who the owner of the billboard is, but the first one was the work of a “Missouri businessman.” (HT: Oliver Willis)

Tea partiers turn on GOP leadership

By GottaLaff

http://sharprightturn.files.wordpress.com/2009/02/chciago-tea-party.jpg

Who knew the tea party revolution would be against the Not Democrats? That ripping sound you hear is the Rushpublic party shredding itself:
[T]ea party forces are confronting the Republican establishment by backing insurgent conservatives and generating their own candidates — even if it means taking on GOP incumbents.

“We will be a headache for anyone who believes the Constitution of the United States … isn’t to be protected,” said Dick Armey, chairman of the anti-tax and limited government advocacy group FreedomWorks, which helped plan and promote the tea parties, town hall protests and the September ‘Taxpayer March’ in Washington. “If you can’t take it seriously, we will look for places of other employment for you.”

Dickle Me Armey is already a headache for most of us, so that comment didn't have much, how you say... bite.

“We’re not a partisan organization, and I think many Republicans are disappointed we are not,” added Armey, a former GOP congressman.

Tea Tantrumers partisan? Why would anyone think that?

Tea party organizers say their resistance to Republican Party-backed primary candidates has much to do with what they perceive as the GOP’s stubborn insistence on embracing candidates who don’t abide by a small government, anti-tax conservative philosophy.

“It’s an outgrowth of the frustration people have had with the Republican Party,” said Andrew Moylan, director of governmental affairs for the National Taxpayers Union, another group that has played a large role in organizing the tea party movement. [...]

“I think the GOP establishment has ignored their constituents and the feelings of their constituents for years,” added Meckler.

It’s an unusual predicament for the Republican Party, since the conservative-oriented issues that animate Tea Party activists once seemed destined to make the movement a valuable auxiliary to the Republican Party.

In a handful of states, tea party activists have zeroed in on House Republican incumbents and have launched primary challenges in protest of their past support for the controversial Wall Street bank bailout.

Michele Bachman Calls for ‘Revolution,’ Cites Jefferson’s ‘Blood of Tyrants’ Quote

By GottaLaff

http://www.buzzflash.com/articles/files/michelle%20bachman2.JPG
Mark Karlin at BuzzFlash shot me a Bachmann-related e-mails. Allow me to share:
Michele Bachman (R-MN) has ramped up her calls for a revolution against the government of the United States by misquoting Thomas Jefferson, "It’s like Thomas Jefferson said, a revolution every now and then is a good thing." What Jefferson actually said was "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." The actual quote colors her call to arms with violence and gives it a whiff of treason.
The original post goes on to say:
After the earlier quote, she said she was speaking metaphorically — but then did not make that clear when she revised her call for an “orderly” revolt yesterday.
Um, Michele? That wasn't a metaphor, it was a bad translation/inaccurate misquote. Will someone get her some more medical insurance for psychiatric care, because apparently, she still doesn't have adequate coverage.

Michele Bachmann urges "armed" revolt over climate plan

By GottaLaff

Michele, Michele, Michele... What are we going to do with you? This time it's about the Obama administration's cap-and-trade proposal:

Speaking on a right-wing talk radio show in Minnesota on Saturday, Bachmann said:

"I want people in Minnesota armed and dangerous on this issue of the energy tax because we need to fight back. Thomas Jefferson told us ‘having a revolution every now and then is a good thing,’ and the people – we the people – are going to have to fight back hard if we’re not going to lose our country. And I think this has the potential of changing the dynamic of freedom forever in the United States.”

Good Odds that Rupert Murdoch Will be Responsible for the Next Timothy McVeigh or Assassination Attempt

By GottaLaff

Our pal Mark Karlin has something to say about the simmering mess of Republicans who are trying their best to stir up a revolution:

Yes, with the civil war talk on the program of the recently acquired FOX News demagogue, Glenn Beck, inflammatory talk by Sean Hannity, and Rush Limbaugh's nativist rants that equate Obama to something akin to an amalgamation of Karl Marx and Adolf Hitler, the right-wing media is stirring up the dangerous angry white male resentment to a dangerous frenzied pitch.

And we all know where that ended up with Timothy McVeigh and the militia movement of the '90s, which was enabled by the right-wing media barons -- such as Rupert Murdoch -- to create a literal armed militia movement against the government of the United States.

He refers back to our post about Sean Hannity's website of armed rebellion, military coup, and secession. In fact, he refers to a lot of things, and goes on to suggest what we should do about all this:
Call it treasonous, call it demagoguery, call it treachery: it is what comes down the pike when the wealthy Democratic elites are more content to fund organizations that criticize the apocalyptic, brown-shirted Murdoch media barons rather than buying up media and delivering an alternative message that emphasizes loyalty to the truth, Constitution and democracy. [...]

The reality is that the only thing that matters in media is owning it. Murdoch knows that and couldn't give a horse's fart for what Media Matters has to say, nor does CBS which just hired a Democratic-hating Republican stalwart as their senior communications executive.

Nor do any of the mainstream corporate media: including radio, television and print. They will just keep on doing what they are doing because they own it and they know what they want: an oligarchy.

The troops for this formidable army of images, mistruths, and emotional manipulation are the angry white males, the guys who have felt displaced by minorities and women and immigrants ever since the Civil Rights and Feminist upheaval began in the '60s.

And these displaced white guys are armed to the teeth, courtesy of the NRA and the senators and representatives who lie down like doormats for the gun lobby in Congress.

And bristling with guns -- including the .50 caliber sniper rifle that is legal in all but California -- they feel enabled and patriotic in rising up against the legitimate Constitutional government of the United States. [...]

This is what we saw in the Clinton administration that led to the domestic terrorist Oklahoma bombing and trumped up impeachment.

And before the right-wing media was as consolidated as it is today, we saw our liberal leaders gunned down one by one in the '60s, resulting in the election of Richard Nixon -- and the beginning of the well-funded corporate mainstream media consolidation owned by people beholden only to the oligarchy, not the American public.

Yes, there are exceptions, but they are few in number, far too few. [...]

But when the armed angry white males decide to act because of the Murdoch/Limbaugh et al. incitement to rise up ringing in their ears, the blood will be on the hands of Rupert and his fellow right-wing corporate media barons -- and he won't be sorry for it.

He'll only feel one thing: Mission accomplished.

Strong words. I'm glad he spoke them. Your turn.

VIDEO-- Hannity's America: What kind of revolution appeals most to you?

By GottaLaff

Here is what Keith Olbermann is talking about in Worst Persons:
There's a lot of talk on this board about armed revolt. I am curious what form of such a revolt the revolutionaries would prefer. I can see a few scenarios:

1. Military Coup - The military deposes the government and declares itself in charge. A junta rules until democracy can be restored, similar to what happened in Pakistan.

2. Armed Rebellion - The fed up civilian population attacks their enemies forcibly. They take to the streets, or wherever they need to go, to ultimately depose the government and install one that follows their own ideals.

3. War for secession - Individual states try to secede and perhaps ultimately must arm to do it.

[...]

Yet it seems that the ultimate paradox in any rebellion for freedom from within is that the ultimate goal is to impose the will of the rebels on everyone else through force. It seems the very foundation of representative democracy is ****tered if we accept that we exchange the the power of ideas for the power of the sword upon each other.

Nevertheless, I am still very interested in your own preferred form of revolt.
Go read the whole thing, I left out a lot. Call me crazy, but to me, this falls under the category of inciting violence. Looks like Gramm-pa McCain and Limelight Palin really got the ol' ball-o'-hate rollin', eh?

UPDATE: I've added the Countdown video and changed the blog title to reflect that.
