Joe the Bummer

By Laffy the Plumber

The facts are coming in fast and furious. Here's what Cliff, Paddy, some commenters, and I have come up with:
  • The Toledo Blade is reporting that Joe the Plumber is actually not licensed. But that, combined with his apparent tax lien, isn't lessening McCain's ardor.
  • He is not, repeat, not an undecided voter.

After watching his interview on MSNBC, the man is a plant or faking to be undecided while spewing McCain talking points.

Joe Wurzelbacher doesn't immediately turn up in the Ohio voter registration database, leading to some speculation last night that he's not registered to vote.

But the Toledo Blade reports that he appears to be a registered Republican [...] . He voted in his first primary on March 4, 2008, registering as a Republican.

Ms. Howe said that the name may be misspelled in the database.

(This is, incidentally, the reason people worry about purging the voter rolls. They're such a mess to begin with.) Questions about Joe being a "valid licensed plumber", here. [Here are a few more tidbits:]
    Believes Obama's plans are "socialist".
Joe Biden questions the "notion of Joe the Plumber".
'Joe the Plumber' says he has no plumbing license
Toledo Blade, 'Joe the plumber' isn't licensed or registered

  • Tim Burga, AFL-CIO: You can quote me as saying, "Joe is not a plumber he's a businessman. If we don't elect Barack Obama, the plumbing business and working families dreams will go down the drain."
  • "Joe The Plumber" Related To Charles Keating? Yes That Charles Keating! Turns out that Joe Wurzelbacher from the Toledo event is a close relative of Robert Wurzelbacher of Milford, Ohio. Who’s Robert Wurzelbacher? Only Charles Keating’s son-in-law and the former senior vice president of American Continental, the parent company of the infamous Lincoln Savings and Loan.

The now retired elder Wurzelbacher is also a major contributor to Republican causes giving well over $10,000 in the last few years.
There we go. I'm sure there will be more, but that's a collection of items we've accumulated in the past hour or so.
