Iraq: U.S. wanted deal to stay in Iraq until 2015

By GottaLaff

Poor John Sidney McCain must have been disappointed to hear this. He thinks it's dandy to stay there until 2108:

The United States asked Iraq for permission to maintain a troop presence there to 2015, but U.S. and Iraqi negotiators agreed to limit their authorization to 2011, Iraqi President Jalal Talabani said.

"It was a U.S. proposal for the date which is 2015, and an Iraqi one which is 2010, then we agreed to make it 2011. Iraq has the right, if necessary, to extend the presence of these troops," Talabani said in an interview with al-Hurra television, a transcript of which was posted on his party's website on Wednesday.

See there? The Surge (read: escalation) worked so well that we wanted to extend our stay, revel in the ease of occupying a sovereign nation, luxuriate in the 130 degree summer days, bask in all that pro-American sentiment, and boost the numbers of casualties. It has to be that; it couldn't possibly be for oil or a platform for an attack on Iran.

The "conditions on the ground" will never be quite right.

And the Dems are afraid to scare McCain by jangling HOUSE keys while Repubs are printing money with an Arab/Muslim looking Obama on it? I mean, McCain just needs to keep his sense of humor too and the Dems need to learn how to win.
Sometimes I think we're way too nice.
