Music to my little Laffy ears.Hillary is set to campaign in Florida for Obama on Monday, a source familiar with her schedule tells me.
Though the details of the trip have yet to be worked out, and the trip's message hasn't been settled on yet, her planned campaigning suggests that the Obama team may start reaching out to Hillary more aggressively in the days ahead to counter whatever effects Palin has.

I'm sorry, but Wolfson can blow it out his bald asshole. This was no kind of scathing rebuke of last night's pig show and was couched in language that almost made him sound like a moderate Republican. Have the Clintons completely buried their heads up their bungs to a depth that makes them forget they're Democrats? Or are they simply Clintocrats at this point and to hell with the Party?
Elvis, I'm trying so hard to stay positive. I agree with you, but in spite of myself, I'm holding out some hope that Hillary will do some of Obama's dirty work for him... effectively.
See, Clancy. We have to have Hillary call this Alaskan woman to the mat. Maybe Hillary even has the clout to recall Sarah's vagina. She doesn't deserve one.
(Just keep her away from Bubba, ya know.)
Honestly, I don't think she has it in her. I think her bitterness -- her scorn -- runs that deep, and that red. She'd rather give a smirking I Told You So to the ruin that is the Democratic Party than call this woman to the mat; we saw it in her almost ass-kissing post-announcement statement, we've heard nothing official from her yet following last night's Parade of Assholes, and I think she's going to hang back and let it all play out.
I can't argue with that, nor do I want to. I'm not convinced at all that she's enthusiastically supporting Obama, nor has she shown a convincing facade of same.
I've always felt that her half-hearted attempts were forced upon her, and even her facial expressions of sly smiles and otherwise revealing winks and nods to her avid supporters reveal her resentment.
I could be reading into the body language, but I don't think so.
I doubt that either of us are reading into the rest.
Despite all of that, I hope she plays the game for our side, and scores some points as a result.
Laffy, I just came across this great clip from CNN this AM in which Soledad O'Brien smacks a McCain spokesperson Nicolle Wallace pretty hard over Palin's claims to being an advocate for special needs children.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1aRWM2xbhg
I guess she has cut the AK budget for special needs kids by 62%.
Hmmmm ..
I think he has a point about taking the emphasis off Palin - and I agree she's somewhat of a distraction.
Biden has pulled out the 'issues' gift and is running well with that. Issues aren't part of the Republican agenda and they've specifically said that (they can't say otherwise since they have no damn policies worth airtime).
I trust Obama and Biden to steer the dialogue in the direction it needs to go after this slaughterfest of a RNC.
Palin is just a vicious person. There's no kudos in that.
Thanks, CPants. Firefox is acting up, so every time I play a video, I have to restart. It'll be a few until I can get that up.
GL, I've been having a similar problem lately with Firefox, mostly with YouTube. I thought it was something with my computer. Good to know it's just a software glitch that may someday cause my motherboard to melt.
It's driving me fucking nuts. Trying to post and having to refresh about 8 tabs constantly is time-consuming and turning me into a lunatic.
Okay, more of a lunatic.
When it's acting up, mine freezes up every 4 seconds (really, no shit) and won't play the sound.
Oh, mine too. And Bucky's too. I've emailed FF twice. Futile, but I tried anyway.
Clancy - Apparently that O'Brien piece about the 62% has been debunked and the supporting data discredited as not the complete picture. I'm surprised CNN rolled with it, as only Kos and a few other fringers are reporting the details. The once source I found that posted the fiscal year budgets from which the claim was made did a little mea culpa update saying he was wrong, and apologizing.
As Obama supporters I think we need to be assiduous in reducing the number of wild claims that end up hurting our cause rather than theirs. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to author a piece for Clusterdouche! in which we claim that Sarah Palin was Patient X and spread the AIDS virus by having unconsensual sex with a gay special needs mountain goat in this country illegally in order to drill for oil in a baby seal's skull, huzzah!
Personally, I don't think it's a good idea to use Hillary!! Obama & Biden are doing pretty good on their own.
They DON'T NEED Hillary!! She doesn't fully support Obama. You can see it in her face... She's phony and she'll wreck Obama's chances. He's better off leaving Hillary alone.
Someone caught her on their cell phone camera during one of Hillary's "so-called" campaign support speeches for Obama. Hillary the "sly one" was attempting to rally support for her failed presidential campaign!
She attempted to encourage this group of women (mostly women were in this small crowd) to have THEIR VOICES HEARD during last week's DNC. Well her well laid plans DID NOT work and as they say, "The Rest Is History".
I seriously believe that Obama should leave Hillary alone. He really DOES NOT need her help. He's done very well without her so far. We're confident that he will continue on and become president without Hillary's support.
i dont care if teh 62% is debunked if she can get away with tons and tons of lies.
Hillary supports Obama and Wolfson was right. The fact that Palin lied on all counts will not mean anything because the media did not do their jobs by calling palin out rather they relished in the jerry springer drama Palin pulled last night.
Hillary pledged to do whatever in her power for the Obama/Biden ticket even before Palin came into the picture and I believe Hillary. She and Bill will stump for Obama as they do for other democrats or maybe even more. I believe they will be effective especially Bill in rural america. He does well there.
Enough with the Hillary snarks...we are truly united against a common enemy, and after the incredible job she did at the convention, we couldn't ask for more. I was absolutely moved by her, everything came full circle when she herself named BO the nominee...a moment I will never forget. Be grateful, because we would not have as much unity if it were not for her, and try to put yourself in her supporters shoes...how tough would it have been for us to see the big picture had we lost? I really do emphathize for them; they loved her as much as we love BO.
You're right hopeful
Hillary gave a good performance and gave a "speech"!!
