Most Clinton backers say Palin's too far a stretch

By GottaLaff

Looks like Sarah's glass ceiling is still intact:

Evidence so far shows that Palin is not drawing a lot of support from voters outside the Republican base.

An ABC News poll released Friday found the selection of Palin makes people likelier to vote for McCain by just 6 percentage points - half the 12-point margin by which Sen. Joe Biden makes them more likely to support Obama.

And as for Clinton supporters, eight in 10 said they'd vote for Obama in November, according to a Gallup Poll conducted last weekend after McCain announced his selection of Palin.

But (there's always a "but"):

And what about all the issues on which Palin differs so sharply from Clinton? "Principle trumps issues for this group," [a Clinton supporter leaning toward Palin] says of her and others like her.

In that case, Obama should win hands down.

To Gloria Steinem, the nation's most recognizable feminist, that logic is mystifying. [...] "Palin shares nothing but a chromosome with Clinton."

Ohhh, nice one, Gloria.

[A] Florida voter who's shifted to Obama [will] work to convince fellow Clintonites that they shouldn't be swayed by the woman on the Republican ticket.

"I was insulted when she referred to Hillary and the 18 million cracks in the ceiling," Goodman says, referring to Clinton's line that her primary votes put that many cracks in the glass ceiling that has held women back. "I don't believe Hillary was making those 18 million cracks for Sarah Palin."

That's true, but there is reason to believe that Sarah Palin has 18 million cracks. They're being revealed by the hour.

Per that article, the only women who seem to be swayed were those inclined to support McCain anyway.

I keep trying... but there are always those pesky "buts"...

it seems they're hoping to mobilize extremist voters (and take their money), and convince swing voters who don't care about women's rights, civil rights, privacy rights, or the bill of rights, but that sounds redundant, so maybe they're hoping to fool the low-information swing voters.

The questions that should now be asked are these: Now that Palin has joined McCain, what do we know about her? She claims to have sold the state's jet on ebay, for a profit. False. In fact the plane was sold to a contributer at a discount, Alaska loses, Palin wins. The infamous "bridge to no where" she claims she said "Thanks, but no thanks". She did say thanks after she took the over 200m dollars in funding, then killed the project. Oh yeah, Wasilla, the town she was Mayor of, when she left office, she left the town a deficit of over 20m dollars. So, who is Sarah, she a hockey-moming, moose hunting, basketball shooting, gun toting, money snatchin, power welding, deficit causing, Bush-lovin, opportunistic Republican. In other words, more of the same in a skirt-suit.
