Hillary Rodham Clinton has no intention of becoming a Sarah Palin attack dog — but has no qualms going after John McCain, people close to the former first lady say. Then why was there such a fuss about Obama winning over Hillary's female voters? Anyone?
“She’s not the answer when it comes to winning conservative women — she never was — and we’re not going to be anybody’s attack dog against Sarah Palin,” said a Clinton insider. “To be fair to Obama’s people, they haven’t asked us to do that.”
Slamming Palin to win back women already hostile to Obama is pointless, the insider said, because Clinton’s most loyal base is working-class voters, not women in particular. “Attacking Palin is checkers, attacking McCain on the economy is chess.”
Clinton will continue to yoke McCain and Palin to President Bush on pocketbook issues. But sources say that Clinton, who supports abortion rights, isn’t likely to criticize the Alaska governor for her anti-abortion stance. She may, however, question Palin’s record on equal-pay issues. So who will go after Palin's disturbing positions? Again, anyone? Biden? Sebelius? Napolitano?

And they're pussyfooting around her anti-choice, religious, secession issues why?
Good post Laffster. More class displayed by the Our Side.
I heard today someone at the DNC said GHW Bush may have been "born on third and thought he hit a triple" but GWB was "born on third...and tried to steal second." Perhaps you covered this and I missed it.
Also, what's up with Firefox (?) and playing videos lately? Either they never load or there's no audio, here or on any site.

Thanks, Jane. As for FF: We've all been having that problem. I just posted a video w/o having even seen it, but I had in the past, so I'm trusting that it's the right one.
It's so infuriating. I have to restart every 15 minutes, losing 8 tabs each time.
I think it is smart to go after McCain. People vote top of the ticket despite all the huge attention she is getting.
Palin will self-destruct. Best to let her do it and focus on McCain. Although they will not be ignoring her. The campaign can counter her impact without going after her.
This won't be the only strategy, though. They are doing lots of different things to win the swing states and force McCain to spend money in red states. The object is to win, not to take Palin down. Focusing on Palin makes her look credible.
The press is after her. There is video online of ABC hitting hard on troopergate. No more free passes for McCain and his bosom buddy. Okay -- some free passes. Like crazy Matthews gushing over McCain's speech.
It's not a walk in the park. It is hard. And Obama will win. He is smarter and his campaign leaders are smarter. He has far more organization.
And no matter what McCain says -- the economy sucks and he is a republican and we have the pictures to prove it!
re:FF. One feature it has that I love is that it will restore your previous session when you restart. (Learned to love this when IE would crash while I had twelve articles or so open to read, and lost when it would invariably crash.)
Maybe my problem is different? I can't watch video even after a restart. Or I get it w/o sound.
I disagree somewhat. She may self-destruct, but we can't take the chance that she will.
I am not advocating that the Obama team should go after her personal life. But she stands for some scary stuff, the kinds of issues that infringe on our democracy, our privacy, the separation of church and state, etc.
There is nothing wrong with attacking her on the issues. I don't see that happening right now.
Ignoring her won't make her go away. Yes, the target is McCain, and I strongly agree with you on that.
But she's dangerous in her own right.
Evers, that was for you, that last one... and I meant to say, "we can't take a chance that she WON'T."
Jane, the same thing happens to me. And yes, we can restore tabs, but often when I do that, it doesn't restore the sound, so I have to start from scratch.
who said pussy footing? Why the hell are they doing that? I don't understnad the whole woman thing.. personally sorry people I don't think Hillary wants to go all out for the BFCE just my take. She will do what the basic minimum at least that is my take feel free to correct me.
Rachel on KO yahoooooooooooooooooo!
I think the Troopergate is a loser. Her brother-in-law sounds like a jerk, from what we've been told, and I just think she may gather sympathy.
It's the secessionist crap and her constant lying that needs to be pointed out every freakin' day. Jesus, I wish we had an offense.
Why isn't the media interested in that AIP? That's where another Timothy McVeigh will emerge.
So Hillary "insiders" are still talking out of school? They haven't learned anything have they.
Hillary does not have to be an attack dog for Barack...Hillary's active participation in the Obama/Biden campaign attacks Palin without a word being said...
Palin will draw first blood with direct negative references to Hillary Clinton... Hillary will not stand down when the attacks come.
I love Hillary and Bill Clinton...never underestimate the Clinton Machine...
McCain surprised Obama with Palin...but Obama may have some surprises of his own.
It makes sense to go after McSame. No President McCain means no VP Carabimbou. Hillary just being herself is a rebuttal of of Miss Congeniality.
I'm not worried that Sarah Palin will lack for scrutiny. She's going to end up attracting it even if -- or perhaps especially if -- she tries to avoid unscripted engagements with the media.
(Bacon! I smell bacon . . .)
Hillary should have, could have, and would have made this a land slide for Demo's. Now Hillary is being asked to get back out on the streets and make the demos some money. You've come a long way baby!
