Senate Dems to force equal pay vote on McCain

Snap a rooni!!! I was going to write a longer piece at Kos about this, but I have a low info friend who asked me the other day about McCain vs Obama. She's not prejudiced against Obama about his race, but may be towards the whole "celebrity" bs meme. In a rather long discussion, me talking about the differences in policy positions, hands down the only thing that really resonated with her was the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. As a woman who has worked in typically men's fields before, she just plain got it. The Senate Dems just handed us a HUGE bludgeon.

Democrats have hammered Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) this summer over his vote against legislation pushing equal pay for women and men. The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act will get a second act in September, as Democrats seek to remind voters that McCain opposed it, according to an e-mail from the Democratic Senate message center. It lists "[e]qual pay legislation" as among the issues the Senate will take up in September.

BFCE!!
Force McCain to either vote against & lose some of the women, vote for it, in which case we get what we want, or not vote at all, which shows that women just aren't that important to him! It's a win-win-win!

This won't be an issue for McCain.
He just won't show up to vote for it, just like he didn't show up to vote on legislation in the senate for most of his career.
