Bet alot of people are going to learn what secessionist means in the next couple days. Via TPM-
The McCain camp today disputed rumors that presumptive vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin was ever registered with the secessionist Alaska Independence Party by releasing years of voter registration history . . . but it looks like that doesn't apply to her husband.
This afternoon, the director of Division of Elections in Alaska, Gail Fenumiai, told TPMmuckraker that Todd Palin registered in October 1995 to the Alaska Independence Party, a radical group that advocates for Alaskan secession from the United States.
Besides a short period of a few months in 2000 when he changed his registration to undeclared, Todd Palin remained a registered member of AIP until July 2002 when he registered again as an undeclared voter.
Secessionist
Se*ces"sion*ist\, n. 1. One who upholds secession.
2. (U.S. Hist.) One who holds to the belief that a State has the right to separate from the Union at its will.

What??? And she's continued to live with him for 20 years??? Where is her judgment... she must reject and denounce!? imagine her children have sat at his table for 20 years listening to this anti-american secession talk...
LOL....
Even more frightening, the AIP is the state affiliate of the American Constitution Party, which advocates a "return" to biblical law. . . which seems to be in step with Palin's reported Dominionist leanings. Rather than being anti-American (or pro-Alaskan), Palin is simply a scary mother fucker.

What does it say when your spouse is the Republican gov and your registered as Undeclared.
Right, Clancy. She scares the shit out of me. How's about she go back to Alaska and they go ahead and separate from the Union?
This pro-life, every fertilized egg is a gift from God is BS and I'm sick of hearing such drivel....
I can't watch anymore and I had it on for only 5 minutes. Oh, BTW Radicalism is A-Okay and forgivable as long as you're white and just worshipped Pat Buchanan and wanted to separate from the Union.
But a black man and Rev Wright? No way! Fuck that! It's RADICAL! Jesus!
OMFG - now for sure she will not last... they sure have their knickers in a twist!
Game over.
No, Ellen, some mother fucker from NV just said that's all forgivable. We all mature. See my previous comment...I feel sick.
As someone who lives in a country where a secessionist party is actually in the freakin' government ( Bonjour, Bloc Quebecois! Comment ca va?), they can be very scary to start with. But seeing as the BQ is not in anyway affiliated with any religious dogma and are, frankly, very French and laid back ( and prone to racism, but that's another story for another day), I can safely say I'd rather deal with my secessionist party that yours. Ours respects the rule of law and will not leave without a referendum vote in their favor ( they may be French, but they have a weird British politeness.)
Yeah I can be mature too long enough to see the shit hit the ceiling... i know that would absolutely be my day... ady watch out for that day... Paddy we will have to do the TQ then don't care if you blog naked then... ha aha ah - oops I had a visual
"So tell us, Mrs. Palin, why doesn't your husband love America? Oh? He does? Then why did he join a secessionist party?"
Then again, the GOP is the party that sees the Confederate flag as the symbol of a proud heritage rather than a traitorous past. Go figure.
;), Kirsten. As Henry Higgins said, the French don't care what they do actually, as long as they pronounce it properly.
Hey! I got an idea! Maybe we could trade you Alaska for Quebec! Yeah....I like it.
I got this shit from those Newsmax on-line lunatics, but this e-mai says the US will attack Iran in the coming weeks. They say a Dutch newspaper makes that claim, but with the smell of neocon desperation in the air. I'm worried.

Adrienne, Debka had the same story. Apparently the Dutch had a sabotage agent in place in Iran, and he was pulled because the Dutch are convinced an attack is imminent. Personally, I think someone's trying to prop up the value of their oil futures, given how many times we've heard someone or another tell of "imminent" action by either the US or Israel, but who knows at this point when the wolf is really there. I found it interesting that the Dutch, of all governments, would have some kind of actively aggressive operation happening.
Well, those hash bars could be causing nationwide paranoia.
This invites foreign-policy questions they should have wanted to avoid. An independent Alaska would heavily depend on Canada, Russia and other foreign partners, and if it did anything stupid it would get itself quickly overrun by Russia. Not that I expect rationality from these secessionist types, mind you.
Also, I doubt if these guys have any champions on par with John C. Calhoun, who at least had an academic argument for "nullification" of federal mandates.
Come to think of it, I'm not aware of any Alaskan analog to Henry Clay, either.
The problem with the Quebec secessionists was they assumed that the U.S. would be all for it, and would save their asses from political disaster, and that we Canadians would be all forgiving and let them keep the now massively devalued currency and the passport and the transfer payments...
The BQ are secessionists the same way I'm Danish. Only halfway there. They want the freedom of being their own sovereign nation with none of the responsibility.
Don't know about Alaska, though I think there would be a battle in order to keep the oil in ANWAR out of Russian hands and the rights to the Northern Basin oilfields that could be on that Arctic shelf.
