TIME TO GO VIRAL: Obama calls for media boycott, for real.

By GottaLaff
PLEASE DIGG/REDDIT/STUMBLEUPON THIS ONE.
UPDATE: I just got this email from them:

Please send phone number to discuss.
Go to Comments for more.

I emailed them. So should you. Knock yourselves out, because, for once, we have a candidate who's not afraid of the big, bad Swiftboating monster:

In case your were wondering, it appears as though Barack Obama is totally fed up with the mainstream media right along with us. In fact, he's asking us to do something unprecedented in Presidential elections--to target (read: boycott) media that runs the 'William Ayers' attack ad. We knew that the swiftboat attacks were inevitable but now we know damn well that we can help Barack defend himself as we should. All we have to do is turn off the TV. More details from Politico below.

Make no mistake about it-the primary objective of Republican strategists is to portray Senator Barack Obama as a threat to our national security. Ever since the convention started, the cable networks have been scouring the streets in search of hostile protesters that could be linked to Obama in a way that undermines his peaceful grassroots movement for change.

The recent William Ayers ad plays on the theme of Obama-is-the-enemy and highlights the Republican platform in 2008. Some Republican Billionaire and accomplice of the Swiftboat Veterans for Truth paid for the Ayers ad.

Fortunately for us, the Obama campaign is making good on its promise to prevent McSame's efforts to extend the reign of Bush through the same old lies and tricks.

From Politico: Obama’s campaign has written the Department of Justice demanding a criminal investigation of the “American Issues Project,”

Furthermore, the Obama camp has also written 2 letters to news networks

Here is the key of the whole article from Politico and the essence of the message from our most excellent Presidential nominee:

"The Obama campaign plans to punish the stations that air the ad financially, an Obama aide said, organizing his supporters to target the stations that air it and their advertisers."

So far we have 93,000 emails from people like you and me supporting this target (read: boycott).

KEEP UP THE GOOD FIGHT!

Note: CNN and Fox News would not comment on their willing participation in this unpatriotic, dangerous and possibly illegal attack on Obama.

Update 1: Thanks guys and gals for all the passion I see here! [...] Here's the contact info. I've gathered so far. Mojo for Dengre for the tip.

Update 2: I'm hearing that the main culprit in the perpetuation of the Ayers swiftboating scheme is Sinclair. Here's a link to their comment form. Tell them how you feel about anti-American activities directed at United States Senators.

Email Sinclair

Go for it, guys. Let's show them this time around, we're not going to let them get away with it.

It feels good to have a candidate who's not afraid of anyone, and who knows how to play the game.

GOBAMA!

On their email form, they ask what market you're in. Sinclair doesn't reach the L.A. area, so I put "Columbus", since Cliff lives there.

If I speak to him directly, I can't vouch for which shows I'd boycott.

Great.

I really love the tactic of enforcing the law w/r/t non profits. Even some Republicans may see through that, if it gets publicity.

I just emailed Sinclair. Why isn't McCain renouncing and rejecting this slime.... oh yeah, he's right there in the gutter with them.

GottaLaff said...

Hellz yeah, he is, Kitty.

Gotta, you forgot a super good "Su-Nap" picture.

Don't forget Biden in all this with his vast legal knowledge. He was on the Judiciary Committee for decades.

Hey, you guys feel free to use Cleveland, Cleveland Heights, Toledo, Dayton, Youngstown, Alliance, Ashtabula (my home town), Geneva, Mansfield, Madison, Mentor, Cincinnati, Conneaut (which shares a media market w/Erie, PA),Canton, Akron... I have relatives ALL over Ohio. Let me know if you run out of cities, towns or villages.

GottaLaff said...

Thanks Ady.

No suh-nap pic because this was too serious. I'm linking everywhere. And please "share" this post.

Adrienne said...

You know I'll share. I forgot it was suh-nap. Sorry. I've already done a bunch. Let me know it you guys run outta Ohio cities or towns.

GottaLaff said...

Ady, we need someone who can actually tell them what show they watch that it would air on. They won't listen to us.

We need someone in the Sinclair areas.

Who said our candidate isn't tough?! Brilliant, tough, aggressive!

This is absolutely wonderful -- take our elections back from the thugs.

You know what else this might do? Take all the talk off of the Hillary bullshit.

I so hope Harold Simmons ends up spending millions and millions to defend himself against the Justice Department. May he be humiliated and jailed.

It's good that he's fighting back, but Sinclair is an arm of the Republican Party and their definition of profit has little space for a boycott to be effective. What is more, any government investigations will go no where until Obama is elected.

Four years ago, it was the corporation that ordered all it's stations to play the god awful "documentary" produced by the Swift Boat jackwads attacking Kerry. People threatened boycotts then, and it had very little impact. Their corporate model is like that of Fox News in its early days, ratings matter little as the stations are merely a means for promoting the broader corporate agenda.

Why do you think they wanted to call me?

Kirsten said...

I have Dugg it, stumbled it, facebooked it, delicioused it, I will Fark it, I will myspace it when myspce allows me to, I will do whatever it takes to get this out.

GottaLaff said...

Gracias, mi amiga!

Clancy said...

Gotta - I don't think this will do any good, but I'll give it a try. But, it would be good to know what shows I'm gonna "stop watching," so here's the deal on the Columbus stations:

The two Sinclair stations in Columbus are: WTTE, channel 28 (Fox) & WSYX, channel 6 (ABC). Or, I guess I could just choose Baltimore, closer to home: WBFF, channel 45 (Fox) & WNUV, channel 54 (CW).

The weakest of these is probably the CW affiliate (and would be elsewhere too, if there are more of them).

GottaLaff said...

Good, then will you call them for me? Or give them your number on my behalf? I'll fwd. you the email.

And the only reason I'm following up on this, is because Obama himself is involved. If it was just a cyber thing, I wouldn't be this gung ho.

Adrienne said...

Can you guys find out which areas are Sinclair areas? And I might be able to get some more info.

GottaLaff said...

Ady, if you follow the email link, you'll see the list.

Clancy said...

Ady, in your area, they own two stations: WMMP & WTAT in Charleston. WTAT is channel 24, a Fox affiliate. I think WMMP is an independent UHF channel.

The media organizations are too insular, and too well protected. If you want to strike effectively, the strategy should be to write letters to other advertisers (and their agencies) on the stations and networks which run the ad saying that THEY will be boycotted if they don't pull their ads from those stations which continue to run the attack.

Most of the advertisers are much more sensitive to this approach than the media organizations themselves, and are therefore more strategic targets.

Good points, Anon.

Boycott all main stream media. They deceive the public to serve their own interests. Hit them where it hurts most, in the wallet.

I think there's something even more serious , actually . Given the recent ' attempted assassination attempt on Obama ' the following questions have to be asked - 1) are the powers that be - mainstream media , corporate interests , Bush et. al - trying to muscle in \ muzzle Obama ? , & 2) if Obama is assassinated before the elections what would then happen ? - would Bush impose a state of Emergency ? Cancel the elections ? etc. ?

THe media - CNN, Fox, MSNBC has cost us the last two elections - Gore and Kerry - we do not want to lose another. The constant attacks on Obama's character and judgment and the constant deluge about Hillary Clinton - they need to fil up 24 hours with nothing - there is so much happening in the World - we hear nothing from them.
Boycott the media

I will digg/delicious, stumbleupon. I will get this out there to as many social networks as I can. We all have to come together as one and stop these evil republicans(Lucifer's children). This is sickening and I hate this unfair coverage too. CNN/MSNBC/Fox are trying to start a war between Obama and the Clintons. I hate the MSM. Please stop watching these networks(except for Olberman). And this Ayers thing is bunch of crap.

Names of sponsors are great too. Its very effective to write to a company saying you won't buy from them anymore till they regulate their ads.
