VIDEO- Rush Limbaugh: Carter is "the national hemorrhoid"

By GottaLaff

Project much, Boss LimpDong?
This from the man who was disqualified from the Vietnam-era draft due to a pilonidal (anal) cyst:

What a nauseating excuse for human life:

Rush Limbaugh used Jimmy Carter's recent remarks on racism towards Obama to give the former president a thorough thrashing, including this segment in which he dubs Carter "the national hemorrhoid."
What an asshat. No pun.

VIDEO: Sarah Palin takes a shot at John Kerry's "long face"

By GottaLaff

Children, children... Stop that fighting right! Now! Or no Tee Vee face-time for either one of you:

She's visiting troops on a peacekeeping mission, but Sarah Palin Friday signaled Friday she's ready to go to battle with John Kerry, who reportedly made a joke earlier this week at her expense.

John Kerry, what have I told you about trying to be clever:

"Too bad if a governor [Sanford] had to go missing it couldn't have been the governor of Alaska," he said, according to the paper. "You know, Sarah Palin."

Sarah Louise Palin, how many times have I warned you that all those folksy barbs just make you look like a bigger idiot:

"Then Sen. John Kerry makes this joke, I don't know if you saw this, but he makes this joke saying, 'Aw shoot, of all the governors in the nation who disappeared, too bad it couldn't have been that governor from Alaska…'" she said.

"But the way he said it, he looked quite frustrated, and he looked so sad, and I just wanted to reach out to the TV and say, 'John Kerry, why the long face?'"

Palin is overseas visiting Alaska National Guard troops on a peacekeeping mission.

Tsk, tsk. Honestly, the two of you. Just wait till your critics get home. You will be so grounded!

Virginia GOP chair: Obama bows to dictators

By GottaLaff

Flatterers:
Pat Mullins was elected to lead the party earlier this month by the state GOP central committee after the former chairman, Jeff Frederick, was ousted after a series of embarrassing missteps. Frederick garnered national attention during last year's presidential race for drawing a comparison between Barack Obama and Osama bin Laden. [...]

"I'm particularly excited I'm not a Democrat," Mullins told the audience. "Since I'm not a Democrat, I don't have to defend a president who goes overseas and bows to dictators that would like to destroy this country. I'm delighted I don't have to defend him."
And we Dems are delighted we don't have to defend you, Pat the Brat.
Fulfilling his role as the state's Republican partisan-in-chief, Mullins also disparaged Democratic National Committee chairman and Virginia governor Tim Kaine as "a part-time governor who's making a full-time salary." He called Virginia Sen. Jim Webb, who earned a Navy Cross and two purple hearts in Vietnam, an "embarrassment to everybody in this commonwealth."
Can he sound any more immature? I'm the sponge and you're the glue...
A spokesman for the state Democratic Party said Mullins "ought to apologize to Virginians for personal attacks on the commander-in-chief and a decorated war hero."
And then send him to his room without supper. And no Tee Vee for a week.

Jamie Foxx to Miley Cyrus: "Make a sex tape and grow up!"

By GottaLaff

http://www.urbanmusicblog.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/jamiefoxx1.jpg
Let's take a detour away from all that teabagging and veer off into the Land-O'-Crazed-Celebs... Oh wait. They're nearly synonymous. 'K anyway:
Jamie Foxx launched a crude attack on teen sensation Miley Cyrus on his Sirius satellite radio show [...] It's not clear when the comments were made. But the insults began flying after someone brought up the 16-year-old's recent feud with Radiohead after Cyrus wasn't allowed to hang out with the band after the Grammys.

Foxx is heard saying: "Who is Miley Cyrus? The one with all the gums? She need to get a gum transplant!"

He also says: "Make a sex tape and grow up!"

A woman is heard calling Cyrus the b-word.

I have a funny feeling that somebody with a big, foul mouth will be forced to issue an apologeee...

Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL): Pelosi is "crazy," "mean as a snake" and "Tom DeLay in a skirt."

By GottaLaff

http://ny-image1.etsy.com/il_430xN.37161217.jpg
I just love when Rushpublics get all mushy and reachy outy and stuff:
"They don't talk to us. They've got the vote, and they can do what they want."

-- Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL), quoted by the Montgomery Advertiser, on how Democrats "are paying Republicans back for how they were treated when the Republicans controlled Congress."

Rogers described House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) as "crazy," "mean as a snake" and "Tom DeLay in a skirt."
There now, he just set the table for the bestest relationship ever.

Republican Rep. Paul Ryan to Europe: I'm sorry

By GottaLaff

Now, now, little Pauly RyRy, what do you have to say for yourself?

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) has something to say to Europe: I’m sorry.
He might try saying that to America, too. How about starting with a big I'm Sorry for this:

The top Republican on the Budget Committee told The Hill that he owes an apology to Europe for insulting them over the past few weeks.

The 39-year-old lawmaker acknowledged that it was unfair to the continent to call President Obama's budget proposal the "Europeanization of America," since France and Germany recently called on the White House to rein in the stimulus spending.
So as long as they agree with him, he apologizes. Par for the course.
We owe them an apology because our budget is worse than theirs,” Ryan told The Hill, referring to the Democrats’ budget measure. "To suggest that we’re turning our budget into a European kind of a budget is unfair … it’s unfair to Europe."

Throughout the partisan budget debate, Ryan warned that America is moving closer into turning into a European society.

“We’re seeing a budget that essentially Europeanizes the American economy and the American government,” Ryan said at a news conference in late March. “We don’t want to be Europe, we want to be America -- where small businesses and innovators and families are the leaders and the nucleus of our economy and our society.”
What a diplomat. Now it makes sense why he's a spokesman for the Rushpublic party. He's a perfect fit.
Ryan's remorse surfaced after he was asked whether he agreed with Rep. Brian Bilbray’s (R-Calif.) opinion that Ryan had gone too far.

Bilbray had told The Hill that Ryan “owes Europe an apology.
So now we find out that not only did he apologize when he believed Europe agreed with him, he also had to be pushed into it by a fellow Rushpublic. When he grows up, he may realize he can do things like this all on his own.

Report: "Angry" John McCain Referred To Hispanics As "You People"

By GottaLaff

If you've been reading TPC since (at least) Election 2008, you're well aware that we track J Sid's anger management issues regularly*. There's been quite a lull since November 5, 2008, but it looks like a revival is a-comin'!
On March 11, Sens. John McCain (R-AZ), John Thune (R-SD) and Mel Martinez (R-FL) met with a group of Hispanic business leaders in the Capitol’s Strom Thurmond Room as part of an effort to reach out to Hispanic voters. National Journal is reporting that several participants in the meeting said McCain got “angry” while talking about immigration. At one point, McCain reportedly began referring to Hispanics as “you people“:

He was angry,” one source said. “He was over the top. In some cases, he rolled his eyes a lot. There were portions of the meeting where he was just staring at the ceiling, and he wasn’t even listening to us. We came out of the meeting really upset.”

McCain’s message was obvious, the source continued: After bucking his party on immigration, he had no sympathy for Hispanics who are dissatisfied with President Obama’s pace on the issue. “He threw out [the words] ‘You people — you people made your choice. You made your choice during the election,’ ” the source said. “It was almost as if [he was saying] ‘You’re cut off!’ We felt very uncomfortable when we walked away from the meeting because of that.”

The attempts to temper the temper talk are here.

But one person’s straight talk is another person’s vitriol. “My hands were shaking,” one source said. “I was nervous as no-end.” The senator’s comments went on for several minutes at least. And by the end of the meeting, another participant, who had supported McCain in last year’s presidential election, was so shaken by the display of temper that he decided it is good that McCain isn’t in the White House.

[...] In 2007, during a private meeting on the issue, a heated McCain told Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), “f*** you.” Echoing Thune’s current defense of McCain, McCain spokesman Danny Diaz dismissed the spat with Cornyn at the time as a “spirited exchange.”

He could have been our president. ::shudder:: Instead we got an even-keeled, reasonable, likable, reacher-outer. Good on us.

*Unfortunately, a lot of our archived posts have been deleted by our former blog hosts at The Agonist and Brave New Films. We documented J Sid's temper routinely.

Another Alaskan blogger's p.o.v.: Hate mail from Team Sarah (Palin)

By GottaLaff

Earlier I posted about The Mudflats' run-in with Alaskan Rep. Mike Doogan after he "outed" her. Now we have another Alaskan blogger to whom I often link, Celtic Diva, who did a little outing of her own.

You'll have to read this to believe it, but here's a tiny morsel:

When hate email started rolling into my inbox, I needed only look to one of the many posts on Team Sarah calling for my head to find contributors to that onslaught:

Reply by Douglas Timbie

Is there a lawyer in the group? Can the frivolous charge-filers Andree McLeod, Zane Henning, Linda Kellen Biegel etc. be given a dose of their own medicine with counter law suits seeking restitution for harrassment. Doesn't Alaska have laws to reimburse the governor when these suits are found to be without merit.

If not, can we get pictures of these locusts, email addresses, and the home addresses, place of work, with maps distributed so these people can be given the Acorn AIG treatment. We should be very pleasant and non-threatening, but flood their emails with thousands of complaints...

Here's a sampling of the hate mails I've gotten, the majority of which were anything but "pleasant":

**WARNING: THE EMAILS AFTER THE FOLD ARE NOT WORK OR CHILD SAFE**

Now by all means, go read the rest of this not-child/work-safe post. It's a doozy.

Finished? Swell. Now everyone has seen for themselves what happens if you dare exercise your first amendment rights around conservative wingnuts.

Speaking of Governor Crassy McClassless, here's another assignment, if you're so inclined: Go read this and this. They are two very revelatory pieces over at HuffPo about our bestest friend and date from hell, the one, the only Palin (wannabe) filmmaker John Ziegler, brought to us via an e-mail from my pal Mark Karlin over at BuzzFlash.

Sarah Palin's prayer remark angers former staffers

By GottaLaff

http://tbn3.google.com/images?q=tbn:9b_zxe_wmqNyKM:http://www.jaymefearon.com/praying_mantis.JPG
The Praying Can'tis (original video/post here) is getting some mighty negative feedback. That's what happens when you diss your former (running mate's) staff who knocked their brains out for you, don'tcha know also too:
Some of Sarah Palin's former campaign aides are frustrated with the Alaska governor for remarking in a lengthy, freewheeling speech that she had refused to pray with them before last October's vice presidential debate. [...]

A handful of the McCain campaign staffers who traveled with the former vice presidential nominee nearly every day for two months caught wind of Palin's remarks on Thursday morning — and they aren't thrilled with her quip.

"We all talked this A.M.," said one former Palin aide in an e-mail. "This set off a nerve for sure with a lot of people."

What?! The Praying Can'tis abrasive? Insensitive? Tin-eared? Offensive? Reeee-dicklus!

Just kidding.

If only someone would speak candidly:

"It's yet another example of the few staff still loyal to Palin questioning their loyalty and ardent defense of her over the several months since the campaign," said the aide, who was granted anonymity to speak candidly about campaign colleagues.

Since election day, Palin has publicly griped about the way she was handled by the McCain team and pushed back against some of the campaign advisers who attacked her anonymously in the press.

But another former staffer said that in doing so, Palin is failing to distinguish between the strategists at McCain headquarters and the people who were at her side every day from late August through election day.

She's not too bright, is she? Not too aware. Not too wise. Everyone who already knew that, raise your hand. ... Wow! I can't see the sky any more! Hands down!

"It's about us people who were on the plane, who showed extreme loyalty to Palin, continually getting thrown under the bus or slapped in the face by her comments, whether she means it or not," the staffer said, adding that Palin's remarks "cause you to question not only your loyalty but her judgment as a leader."

Isn't that cute, how Praying Can'tis is digging herself into a hole all by herself with no help from anyone? Isn't she just precious? What a big girl is she!

The former aides said they place part of the blame for Palin's post-campaign candor on the governor's staff in Alaska. Several have reached out individually to offer advice or assistance to the governor, but "have gotten only pleasantries in response," said one aide.

And who hired that staff, if you don't mind my asking?

"Who is the one making the decision that she needs to be out there saying these things?," the second staffer asked. "Someone needs to be telling her, 'Listen, let's not talk the campaign any more.' We need to talk about what's relevant and thinking about her influence as a voice in the Republican Party."

"The people that she has, either working at her PAC or advisers in Alaska, aren't exactly making the best decisions for her," the staffer said.

Palin's office in Alaska did not respond to a request for comment.

Apparently the staff (that she hired) that make all those decisions (which she approves) didn't want her to get in more hot water with a comment (that she would okay).

BuzzFlash has a little something to add.

VIDEO: Canada demands Fox apology for 'despicable' comments

By GottaLaff

The ignorami on Fixed Noise are even worse than Tammy Bruce and Laura Ingraham... They've insulted an entire country, an ally, a neighbor.. and their military. Men and women who are putting their lives at risk alongside the United States' armed forces. How's that gratitude working for you, Fixed? Everyone got their flag pins on?

Canada is now rightfully demanding an apology:

The Canadian government has demanded an apology from Fox News for "despicable" and "disgusting" comments made on one of its late-night programs.

The government was incensed by a recent talk-show segment on the American conservative cable network that poked fun at Canada and the Canadian military.

A group of pundits took turns trashing Canada and its reliability as an ally in fighting terrorism last week as four more Canadian soldiers were killed in separate attacks in Afghanistan.

Defence Minister Peter MacKay requested an apology just before leaving for Canadian Forces Base Trenton, where he was to attend a repatriation ceremony with the families of the latest soldiers killed.

"It's crass, it's insensitive, it's in fact disgusting, given the timing," MacKay said.

"There should be an apology - to the families in particular, and to the Canadian Forces and to Canada generally - given the sacrifice and the commitment that we've demonstrated in Afghanistan." [...]

A spokesman stressed that the Canadian government specifically wants an apology from the panelists who made the wisecracks - and not just from the Fox network at large.

"These are despicable, hurtful and ignorant comments," said Dan Dugas, a spokesman for MacKay.

"I think that so-called comedian should stare in the camera at his first opportunity and apologize to all of the families of people he's hurt with these despicable comments.

"And he's got to say, 'I was misinformed. I was ignorant of the truth and the contribution of the Canadian Forces to the war on terror, and I want to take it back. I know as a comedian that I can fail sometimes; I failed miserably at this so-called comedy.'

"And his panelists should say the same." [...]

The segment features American panelists suggesting Canadian soldiers need time off for "manicures and pedicures." [...]

"The Canadian military wants to take a breather to do some yoga, paint landscapes, run on the beach in gorgeous white capri pants," Gutfeld said with a sneer, adding: "Isn't this the perfect time to invade this ridiculous country? They have no army."

Another panelist, Doug Benson, said he didn't even know Canadian troops were in Afghanistan.

Chalk another one up for the brilliant comedic talents of the Rushpublic mouthpieces.

Where do I begin?

They've got nothing. Zero. There is no substance to their punditiotry, just vile name-calling. They are so desperate that they are resorting to infantile drek rather than confronting actual issues like, you know, the country's welfare.

Insulting the First Family: Yeah, that should improve the Rushpublic poll numbers. Good luck with that.

Michael Steele: Congressional GOP are greedy "mice"

By GottaLaff

http://www.vbaccelerator.com/images/gunfoot.gif
Was today declared Shoot Yourself in the Foot Day? Because if it wasn't, it should have been:

In Cal Thomas's column today, GOP Chairman Michael Steele appears suggest, in colorful terms, that unnamed congressional Republican critics are greedy, "mice" angry at him only because he's cut off access to the RNC war chest.

Mr. Steele said he is in stage two of a two-stage process to reform and transform the Republican Party.

He won't reveal details, because, "The mice who are scurrying about the Hill are upset because they no longer have access to the cheese, so they don't know what's going on."

Referring to his fellow Rushpublics as rodents should go a long way in boosting his fine reputation as RNC chair. We can already see how it's flourished. Wait, what's this? It's not flourishing? Why, that's crazy! ...Isn't it?
Republican insiders tell Political Wire that a no confidence vote on RNC Chairman Michael Steele is likely to be called after the NY-20 special election on March 31 -- regardless of whether Republicans win the seat or not.

Katon Dawson, who came in second in the January RNC vote, is said to be quietly organizing a vote and is getting the support of several state party chairmen who want to dump Steele.
Mr. Toast.

VIDEO-- Dick Armey to Joan Walsh on Hardball:" I'm so damn glad that you could never be my wife..."

By GottaLaff

On Hardball just now, Joan Walsh and Dick Armey were discussing Phil Gingrey's apology to Rush Limbaugh. True to form, Dick Armey acted like a total Dick... Armey (at about 9:45) to Ms. Walsh:
"I'm so damn glad that you could never be my wife, 'cause I surely wouldn't have to listen to that prattle from you every day."
In the next segment, New York Time's Bob Herbert wasted no time in saying that Dick owed Joan Walsh and Hardball's viewers an apology.

Then, during the segue into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Tweety again commented about the inappropriate nature of Big Dick's insensitivity.

And we thought Rush Limbaugh was bad.

Iowa trooper disciplined in Obama e-mail case

By GottaLaff

Troopergate II:

An Iowa state trooper from Fort Dodge is being punished for forwarding an e-mail that included jail mug shots of people wearing Barack Obama T-shirts.

Sgt. Rodney Hicok received a 30-day suspension on his record, although he won't actually have to leave his job. Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Courtney Greene says labor law means suspending Hicok without pay would jeopardize overtime rules for salaried employees like Hicok.

Hicok also must attend training on department policies.
He forwarded the e-mail from a state-issued laptop. He did it while off duty, and the recipients were both inside and outside of the agency.

The e-mail besmirched 15 people in the photos and said something about Obama having "quite a fan base."

I wonder how big that guy's fan base is. I deserve kudos for not making any jokes about his name.

Gramm-pa McCain to reporter: "He Would Hate To Live in Milwaukee"

By GottaLaff

From the Department of Majorly painful Gaffes, once again Gramm-pa McCain delivers:

This week, Republican Presidential candidate John McCain will come to Wisconsin to push for his candidacy.

Four years ago, he made a comment to a reporter that some people might not think would be so welcoming around here.

Reporter Mark Leibovich, now of the New York Times, heard him say that, as Leibovich put it in his 2004 article in the Washington Post, "He would hate to live in Milwaukee."

Oops. That probably wasn't wise. Perhaps his brain ceased to exist that day. Perhaps he had all his synapses forwarded to someone else's brain. Perhaps he was just being a typically dismissive crank.

"We were at a Diamondbacks game (against the San Diego Padres) in 2004, in the springtime. I was writing a profile of him for the Washington Post, which is where I worked then.

"We were just talking. He was just talking about various random things that two people sitting next to each other in the course of a three-hour baseball game talk about.

"For whatever reason, he said he would hate to live in Milwaukee. I put it in my story, and lo and behold, four years later, a radio station in Milwaukee has found it.

Maybe he was just commenting about a team or something. "Boy, how 'bout them A's. I'd hate to live in Oakland." No?

"I also remember putting in the story that he was heckling the opposing pitcher (the Padres' Jason Szuminski) when he was knocked out of the game. The pitcher had gone to M.I.T. He had given up three or four runs in half an inning, and he was coming off the mound and McCain yelled, 'Next up, NASA, buddy!' or something like that."

Note: Newsradio 620 WTMJ has contacted the McCain campaign for comment, and his campaign has not yet responded.

I wonder how he'll end up doing in Wisconsin when all is said and done.

Paul Begala: GOP fundraisers are "dirtbags". So there.

By GottaLaff

Children! Am I going to have to turn this blog around?
Republicans are saying Democratic strategist Paul Begala went “over the line” when, in a fundraising appeal, he called the attendees of a GOP fundraiser “dirtbags.”
"La-a-a-afff-f-f-fy! Make him stop!" Oh, come on, Repubbies, get a thicker skin.

Begala, who worked for Bill Clinton in the White House, discussed the annual Republican President’s Dinner in an e-mail to supporters that seeks to raise funds for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC).

“You should have seen the joint: wall to wall fat-cats. The limos were lined up around the block. If you’d stood in the middle of the ballroom and yelled, ‘Hey dirtbag!’ a thousand necks would have snapped around,” Begala wrote.

The strategist also referred to the GOP as the “Grand Oil Party.”

::stifling major laughter:: Um, Pauly? Pauly honey? ::way too calmly:: Stop that. ... Please. ::stifling more giggles, even more calmly:: You know how ::yawn:: angry... that ::stretch:: makes me.
You would think that, after years of loyally serving Bill Clinton, that Paul Begala would be able to identify a real dirtbag when he saw one,” said National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) spokesman Ken Spain.
::filing nails:: Ooooo, way to zing Paul, Kenny. ::expressionless:: Wow. What a snappy comeback. Ahem, Pauly, snookums? Your turn.
The Bush Republicans questioned the courage of a hero like Max Cleland. They besmirched the war heroism of John Kerry. They smeared Bill Clinton, savaged Hillary, attacked Sen. Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and Howard Dean,” he said. “But when I call their fat-cat funders 'dirtbags,' they cry like babies. They are wimpy, whiny wussies.
Three words: Neener. Nanner. Neener.

He added, “They are going to take their beating and like it, because this Democrat believes in fighting back.

Doug Thornell, a spokesman for the DCCC, said, “It is understandable that House Republicans would be embarrassed about their lavish celebration of George Bush’s record of high gas prices and their coziness to Big Oil special interests, but facts are facts. Clearly, the truth hurts.

Demmies are sponges and Repubbies are glue. Whatever the Repubbies say bounces off Dems and sticks on to you.

Time-outs for everyone. And no 527s for a week.
