DCCC outraises NRCC, has $10 million more in cash

While the DCCC has more debt than the NRCC ($3.3M-$2M), it has a huge cash-on-hand edge. At the end of Oct., the DCCC had $14.5M in the bank, while the NRCC lagged with just $4.2M.

It must be all Dem Jews:

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee raised twice as much as its GOP counterpart in September, raking in more than $7 million and ending the month with more than $14.7 million stockpiled for the 2010 midterm elections.

The National Republican Congressional Committee raised $3.4 million in September ­­— its second-highest monthly take this year. The NRCC will also report $4.3 million in cash on hand, less than one-third of the DCCC’s bank account total.

The Rushpublic continue to prove my earlier point. And hey! Can they ever multi-task! They can put Pelosi in her place while simultaneously showing themselves to be a despicable party! That takes some fancy pageant walkin'!

Someone at the NRCC who, naturally, wasn't trying to compare Democrats to Nazis and Hitler tweeted a link to the above video. Via Politico:

The Tweet: "Funny Video: Moonbattery: Hitler Reacts to ObamaCare Maneuvers" [Laffy Note: The tweet was deleted] [...]

"House Republicans have gone way too far," said Jennifer Crider, spokewoman for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. "The NRCC's despicable promotion of a video comparing Nancy Pelosi's effort to reform health care to America to Adolf Hitler's extermination of millions is a shocking new low that must be condemned. Republican Leader John Boehner should order NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions to immediately remove this vile Tweet and apologize."

NRCC spokesman John Randall:

"We saw the video this morning and thought, like other parodies, that it was funny," [...] In 20-20 hindsight, we realized it was in poor taste and pulled it down... I don't want anyone to think we're comparing Democrats to Nazis and to Hitler."

Nah, nobody would ever want to do that.

GOP pulling Bachmann ads

Not only did Michele McCarthy's Bachmann's appalling remarks make her Democratic opponent, Elwyn Tinklenberg, over a million dollars, but check this out:

Two sources aware of ad buys in Minnesota say that the National Republican Congressional Committee is pulling its media purchases from Bachmann's race. If true, it is a remarkable fall for a congresswoman who, until recently, seemed relatively safe in her predominantly conservative district. The race had become closer in recent days -- the NRCC had transferred funds from Rep. Erik Paulsen (MN-03) to Bachmann a little over a week ago.

NRCC running out of money, cutting back on ad runs

Bummer.

We’re starting to see the first tangible impact of the financial deficit that House Republicans are facing.

The National Republican Congressional Committee, after reserving advertising time in 26 Congressional districts, has begun to cancel or dramatically scale back some of its ad reservations across the country. Many of the hardest-hit candidates are among the GOP’s leading challengers.

The timing couldn’t be worse for many of these first-time Republican candidates. At a time when the Republican party is taking the brunt of criticism for the growing economic crisis, many of their candidates are ill-equipped financially to respond to the barrage of DCCC attacks.

And as the GOP needs to allocate more money to a growing crop of vulnerable GOP incumbents, less money will be available to assist the party’s best-and-brightest candidates, who are most in need of the financial boost.

NRCC has to get $8 million loan for final election push

Republicans are saying Democratic strategist Paul Begala went “over the line” when, in a fundraising appeal, he called the attendees of a GOP fundraiser “dirtbags.”

"La-a-a-afff-f-f-fy! Make him stop!" Oh, come on, Repubbies, get a thicker skin.

Begala, who worked for Bill Clinton in the White House, discussed the annual Republican President’s Dinner in an e-mail to supporters that seeks to raise funds for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC).

“You should have seen the joint: wall to wall fat-cats. The limos were lined up around the block. If you’d stood in the middle of the ballroom and yelled, ‘Hey dirtbag!’ a thousand necks would have snapped around,” Begala wrote.

The strategist also referred to the GOP as the “Grand Oil Party.”

“The Bush Republicans questioned the courage of a hero like Max Cleland. They besmirched the war heroism of John Kerry. They smeared Bill Clinton, savaged Hillary, attacked Sen. Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and Howard Dean,” he said. “But when I call their fat-cat funders 'dirtbags,' they cry like babies. They are wimpy, whiny wussies.”

Three words: Neener. Nanner. Neener.

He added, “They are going to take their beating and like it, because this Democrat believes in fighting back.”

Doug Thornell, a spokesman for the DCCC, said, “It is understandable that House Republicans would be embarrassed about their lavish celebration of George Bush’s record of high gas prices and their coziness to Big Oil special interests, but facts are facts. Clearly, the truth hurts.”

Demmies are sponges and Repubbies are glue. Whatever the Repubbies say bounces off Dems and sticks on to you.

Republicans, eat your spinnage!

What is it with Republicans and scandals? And what is it with Republicans pathetically trying to spin scandals when spinnage isn't even an option?

Outside lawyers for the National Republican Congressional Committee confirmed Thursday that a former employee allegedly stole an estimated $725,000 from the campaign committee between 2001 and 2007, although the exact amount is still unclear.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee, because of joint fundraising it did with the NRCC, also lost an estimated $28,000 to Ward's illicit activities, and at least five other campaign committees and leadership PACs that he worked for have already reported that he allegedly diverted at least $47,000 from their accounts.

That brings the total GOP losses to Ward to nearly $800,000.

Christopher J. Ward, former treasurer, was a bad, naughty boy. But Chairman Tom is so proud! Why? Because Chairman Tom and his staff, says he, were right on top of things! They were the Discovererererers, the Reportererers and the Bustererers! And what a crack team of law-and-order Republicans they were! Too bad Republican donors don't quite see it that way:

[NRCC Chairman Tom Cole (Okla.)] said the Ward investigation has diverted needed resources into an investigation, and raised unwanted questions from donors about the committee's operations. [...] Cole tried to spin the situation as a credit to himself and his staff, who first confronted Ward on his failure to get an outside audit of the committee's books. Oklahoma Republican said he was proud "that we're the ones that found it, we're the ones that reported it, we're the ones that fixed it."

It doesn't take much to fill the NRCC with pride these days, does it.

John Sidney Bush snubs George Walker Bush’s fundraising dinner

Awww, somebody not happy being a cloney-woney?

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) will not attend President Bush’s fundraising dinner for congressional candidates in another indication that the GOP nominee is distancing himself from the man he wants to replace.

McCain’s campaign did not comment but the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) confirmed that the Arizona senator will not attend the annual event, which will take place on June 18.

I suppose I can see his point. If he were to go, they might confuse him for the other George W. Bush, and Georgie W would throw things and tantrum and stomp off. Then the donors would be left with John Sidney Bush as the guest speaker, which would result in an abrupt and rowdy group stampede for the nearest exit. The caterers would be furious.

Republican House leaders are scrambling to contain the damage after a third straight special election loss, with NRCC Chairman Tom Cole putting the blame on the party’s public image and former NRCC Chairman Tom Davis warning of a bloodbath in November if members can’t divorce themselves from the “brand” put on their party by President Bush.

It's all Georgie's fault! All these years they all seemed to play so nicely together. Then they go and lose a few lousy elections, start a couple of disastrous wars, make a few million people poorer, and cause sick people to get sicker, so what to they do? Blame their most favorite playmate of 7 years. Talk about fickle little brats! Check that: Awkward fickle little brats:

But sources who attended the “awkward” leadership meeting said that not one word was said about the GOP’s electoral woes or the steps party leaders might take to address them.

Other sources have talked of the possibility of replacing Cole with Davis, who has been critical of the party and of Cole’s handling of its congressional campaign arm.

These losers need a new game with some new rules. Or... they need to learn to follow the existing ones, because, boys and girls, what happens when you break the rules? You get in tro-o-ouble!

Boehner said Wednesday morning that he had “no preconceived ideas” about how the party should respond to Tuesday’s special election in Mississippi’s 1st Congressional District, a conservative stronghold where Democrat Travis Childers cruised to an eight-point win over Republican Greg Davis despite more than $1 million in NRCC spending and a visit from Vice President Dick Cheney.

Wowzers! The vice principal came to visit and the gang still didn't behave? He must be a rotten vice principal!

“When you lose three of these in a row, you have to go beyond campaign tactics,” Cole said. “A large segment of the American public doesn't have confidence in the Republican Party to deal with the issues in front of us. What we have to do is look in the mirror bit and ask how we lost our way."

The little cherubs got lost? Maybe they should have asked the nice policeman for help. No, wait. That would be mighty risky. So many of them would have been shipped right off to reform school if the coppers got wind of what they've been up to.

Davis downplayed rumors of a coup Wednesday but distributed a “Where We Stand Today” memo in which he said the three special election losses were “canaries in the coal mine, warning of far greater losses in the fall, if steps are not taken to remedy the current climate.”

Uh-oh!

“The political atmosphere facing House Republicans this November is the worst since Watergate and is far more toxic than the fall of 2006, when we lost 30 seats (and our majority) and came within a couple of percentage points of losing another 15 seats,” Davis wrote. “Whether measured by polls, open seats, money, voter registration, generic ballot, presidential popularity or issues, our party faces a steep climb to maintain our current numbers.”

Double uh-oh!

Davis warned that the Republicans could lose 19 more seats in November if they don’t find a way to reinvent their brand, which he said is now “an albatross to our members.”

I love animal stories! Canaries and albatrosses, weeee! And I bet you a zillion dollars that this one will have a happy ending! If you're a Democrat, that is.

“We don’t need to abandon long-held principles, but we do need to understand our shortcomings and make appropriate adjustments,” Davis wrote. “It starts with the brand, and the brand is Bush."

Blaming Georgie a-gain? He must be the biggest dork alive! I have a feeling he won't get invited to their next Rootin' Tootin' Cowboy Costume Party.

Davis said that Sen. John McCain, by contrast, won’t “drag anyone down” but can’t “carry anyone over the finish line,” either.

Carry them? He can't even lift them.
