Political Carnival Exclusive VIDEO: Sarah Palin filmmaker John Ziegler on dating show

By GottaLaff

John Ziegler, a former radio talk show host/current Sarah Palin documentary filmmaker (Media Malpractice... How Obama Got Elected) and prime dating material, was on "The New Dating Story" which aired last year on the Learning Channel. What a guy. I have an inside source or two that filled me in on what ended up on the cutting room floor.

The show's half-hour premise: A woman is set up with two separate dates. At the end, she checks her answering machine to see if either or both call her back. For their efforts, each gets paid $100.

Here's where Ziegler comes in. He was set up with a liberal woman from Long Island. It almost goes without saying, he was put off... immediately.

Their first activity was going to a driving range to hit a few golf balls. It happened to be a very windy day, and from the get-go, all Ziegler did was complain about the wind. He was cranky from the start.

He spent most of the date talking about himself, how he's a filmmaker/radio host. He apparently thought it would impress Ms. Long Island if he bragged about how he's been fired from several radio stations. Or as he put it, being "controversial". And by "controversial" he meant adding to the record Bush economy unemployment numbers. With traits like these, how could he lose?

So far, Ms. Long Island discovered that Loverboy was a self-involved, stubborn, hubristic malcontent who was more puffed up than Sarah Palin after two bowls of moose stew. What attractive qualities.

He spent much of the date on his cell phone. Way to ingratiate yourself, John. He even kept his date waiting while they were in a cab on their way to one of their dating destinations, while he talked on his cell. He was unable to even put his cell aside on a very public date that he knew was about to air on a national TV show.

My guess is that by this time, Ms. Long Island had surmised that, unfortunately, the cell was the most pronounced extension of his manhood, leaving little room for optimism. My words, not my sources'.

Being the chivalrous guy that he was, he continued to complain about what a bad day he was having due to a lot of "issues", as in movie deals gone wrong, personal problems, etc. He couldn't seem to put those aside to actually try to engage his, you know, date. Then again, emphasizing one's failures has always been a surefire enticement.

At dinner (where he talked with his mouth full at about 3:15), Ziegler opined about relationships and in a nutshell, he thinks women are foolish. He believes marriage should have contracts that come up for renewal and review every five years. Isn't' that romantic?

When he said, "I realize talking about women and being rational is an oxymoron", that did it. Ms. Long Island was officially repulsed. It was the turning point of the date. She didn't even finish dinner, ending the date right there.

Normally, the show would end with the man taking the woman home, but not on this episode. She got up and left him at alone at the dinner table. What did Ziegler do? He smiled into the camera and got on his cell phone.

For anyone who cares, Ms. Long Island's beach date with Guy #2 went very well.
