Stimulus due date: Feb. 16th

Why does this remind me of the feeling I got every time I had a book report due by the end of Christmas Break?

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Congress will have the stimulus package to the president by Feb. 16th, the scheduled beginning of the congressional President's Day recess.

She says that committee action will begin next week, with action on the House floor the week after.

She vows that Congress will not leave for recess until the measure has been passed.

P.E. Obama sounded optimistic, confident, and reassuring when he spoke today, but pushing this to mid-February is already risky. Congress better not go into FUBAR mode again. The country can't afford it.
