Jeb Bush defends .... Obama?!

By GottaLaff

Jeb's sure in the news a lot these days... a little too much, if you ask moi. And what's he doing making nice-nice to That One?
[I]n a written statement, [Jeb Bush] also called on his fellow Republicans to "raise the level of debate to reflect the American people's desire for change and bipartisanship, embodied by November's historic election."

"President-elect Obama ran a tremendous campaign, and I am proud to call him my president," Bush said in the statement.

[H]e added that Obama appeared to be a "very impressive guy" who is "smart, disciplined, not rash." And he called on Republicans to avoid targeting the new president with the same kind of partisan attacks that he said Democrats had hurled unfairly at his brother -- attacks that he summed up as "Bush-hating."

"The opposition should be about ideas and not what my brother suffered through in the last eight years," he said. "I don't wish that on President Obama."
Well, okay, that's very even-handed and all, but his brother deserved it.

[Laffy Note: I fixed a ridiculous mistake/typo. Thanks, Anon.]

When Obama makes the world into an unsafe, bankrupt hole the way W did, then Jeb can equate him with his dad.

W "suffered through the last eight years" because he was a disaster and earned every attack that he got.

Still, it was decent of Jeb to go to bat for Obama.

His dad? W isn't Jeb's dad. He is his brother. Where have you been for the past three decades? I thought it was a typo in the post but then you make the same mistake in a comment. Time to stop reading this blog.

It was a typo, thanks. Both times. I'm still under the weather and have made mistakes all day in all kinds of places and situations. I'm half out of it.

I'll correct.

I should say, more than a typo... a full on slip. Again, thanks for pointing that out.

Wait, what if . . . I mean I'm just spit-ballin' here, but, what if W was his father? That would be, like so weird. It might also explain so much, you know?

Apparently in my feeble brain, he is. I didn't realize how knocked out I was! I've been under the weather for a full two weeks now, and I guess it caught up with me.

I really do apologize for the errors!

Does it seem like Jeb is in the limelight rather a lot lately? Is he starting to maneuver his way toward being the alternative to Palin down the road? We have indeed had enough of the overly partisan nonsense, going back to the non-stop assault on all things Clinton in the '90s, and the open contempt for bipartisanship of the last eight years which helped further polarize left and right. There is a crying need for communication and compromise rather than confrontation and absolutism.

As for "what [his] brother suffered through in the last eight years," Jeb should understand what we as a country have suffered through in the last eight years because of his brother. Jeb may be the smarter brother, but he still sounds clueless on that score.

Regardless of what you think you've suffered, absolutely no one is deserving of hatred.

Actions are deserving of hatred, Anon. And the Bush family is just chock full of despicable and hateful acts.

Anonymous said...

Then hate the actions and stop with petty namecalling. stuff like chimpenfuhrer just shows adolescent stupidity.

SeattleDan said...

If the actions are performed by someone in a trusted public office, then they deserve the names that come with it.

Anon, W. is a war criminal. He should be accountable for all his actions, no matter what we call him.

Anonymous said...

accountable? absolutely. but if someone called obama chimpenfuhrer it'd be racist, wouldn't it?

Anonymous said...

You'll have to do better than that to excuse Bush.

Bush is a scion of a privileged, wealthy, white family. Calling him 'chimpenfuhrer' is in no way racist, for what seems, to me, obvious reasons.

The legacy of Bush and Cheney has left this country in tatters, through actions at times stupid, greedy, or outright criminal. I become literally sick to my stomach whenever I see either of them on television. On the day that they are indicted and hauled into court I will stop using cathartic perjoratives.

Until then 'chimpenfuhrer', and worse, will do quite nicely.

I despise what W has done to our Republic. He is still the duly elected President (at least in 2004, I would rather not talk about 2000) and the office commands our respect. Maybe Obama is rubbing off on me, because I know I have called W some hateful names, but, no more. I hope that historians will judge his Administration harshly, but I will take my cue from Barack and treat him with courtesy and respect henceforward. Not because he deserves it. Because we deserve it.
