Via Celtic Diva's Blue Oasis blog, since I can't connect to Politico (but somehow got through to Celtic's blog):
This from Politico's Ben Smith:See that, IWRC? When you are nasty, call people names, and lie about them, it reflects badly on you and the campaign, and results in embarrassment, loss of appeal and dwindling poll numbers.A smaller crowd
My colleague Amie Parnes tells me the McCain campaign says they won't release crowd counts any more.
And a Florida paper puts the number at today's Palin rally at a respectable, but non-rapturous, 4,500.
A clever, experienced Alaskan husky such as yourself should have anticipated these political repercussions. So much for that stupendous learning curve, eh?

Karma.
And I don't even use that word.
Well, why was Pat Buchanan just on Rachel's show screeching about the Ice Queen's HUGE crowds? Hmmm..
Why is pat buchanan EVER on Rachel's show? I love her but she needs to lose Pat. Before I lose all respect for her.
Why do people keep giving this man a podium to spew his hate and lies?
The size of the crowds don't really matter that much as long as the cameras get her saying something over the top (aka lying) about Obama so it can be shown in heavy rotation on cable.
Speaking of crowds, I found it very interesting of the teevee coverage of Brooooce the other day that the shots showed what looked like a couple thousand there. But when I went online to find more photos, the angle away from the stage looked like the speech in freaking Germany! Obviously facts have a liberal bias LOL!
I don't know, Bucky, but I think Buchanan is really quite inexcusable.
I assume he's lying about the size of the GOP crowds?
Ady, just what I was going to say!
Buchanan was nauseating. Again.
I'm so happy to read her crowds are dwindling. I want this freak to know that America doesn't like her and isn't buying her lies.
ady, I was referring to the post about the screeching pat. Only I didn't think of screeching. Good description.
McCain's health care plan's newest wrinkle...Either KO or Rachel briefly covered this tonight, but it's worth a second visit:
Those of us who analyze health policy and trends for a living have struggled to follow John McCain's health plan through its many seemingly-improvised changes. First he was taxing health benefits through both payroll and income tax. Then he said he only intended to apply income tax, which meant that his plan would create even larger deficits. Now he says there won't be deficits, because he's going to make up the cost of those tax credits by slashing Medicare and Medicaid.

This oughta go over big with seniors.
Nellcote, I noticed that too. He actually had a HUGE crowd.
I was at Obama's speech in Asheville Sunday which attracted 28,000 people and I have not seen a camera angle that does justice to that crowd on teevee either.
The myth of the librul media lives on...
Thanks, Eve. All Pat ever does is screech and cause me to have heartburn.
Chris, I came across that story today too, and I shot off an e-mail to every person I could possibly think of...Here's a link to the article I read.

Vote McCain b/c folks on Medicare and Medicaid are getting more than they deserve!!! Is McCain really this stupid?
I think perhaps Rachel lets Pat appear on her show because his ridiculous arguments simply undercut McShame/Pazuzu that much more. Saves a lot of time and effort, eh? LOL
If Ebenezer McCain thinks the voters who'd support him don't need or care about Medicare/Medicaid or Social Security, the average age of a McCain voter must be "DEAD".
Margali, LOL. I swear I heard it reported that he actually DID campaign at a funeral home on one occasion...
Oh shit, it's TRUE! In January of this year...check it out:
From CBS News' Dante Higgins:
TRAVERSE CITY, MICH. -- On primary day in Michigan, John McCain campaigned for last-minute votes near a Traverse City voting precinct.
He told reporters he was wearing his lucky sweater from his New Hampshire win and had lucky coins in his pockets too. Perhaps trying to lower expectations, he's not boasting about a win here in Michigan; however, he does feel confident about a South Carolina win this Saturday, no matter what the outcome is here in Michigan.
The morning took a turn and he ended up being led to a funeral home - perhaps not the best metaphor on election day...
We ended up at a Hannah Home, a beautiful historical building, which now serves as a funeral home. McCain toured the house commenting on its architecture and hearing stories of all the locals who owned the home prior...
The trip to a funeral home was a bit surprising for such a superstitious campaign. McCain later joked about the visit in his first rally today, noting he and his wife Cindy got a chance to visit the funeral home while others are dying to get in there.

Overheard at a McCain rally:
"More brains! More brains!"
[Works better without the typos. LOL]
Ha! I really can't believe what a "dumbass stunt" the McIce Queen ticket really is...I never thought I'd see two people even less refined than GWB run for president /vice president...holy shit.
I think it depends where she goes....most of the large crowds are targeted in very 'Republican', 'affluent' areas. Most of the seniors or working people do not find this woman qualified and her celeb novelty is fading.
I'm planning to write Rachel an e-mail and ask her "WHY??? she invites Pat Buchanan on her show???"
It might be in her contract??
When Buchanan comes on, I mute the TV machine and do something else, like read Huffpo or TPC(!)
