I'm not sure why the Tee Vee Machine powers that be feel that we can't glance up at our own clocks, or why they think we can't tell time, or why they think we can't keep track of when an important presidential address is about to air.

So here we go. Prez O's speech is now 9 minutes and 6 seconds... no, 8 minutes and 25 seconds... away.

I better watch MSNBC and stare at their clock so I don't miss it.

What would I do without them to keep me posted? Every second... every single solitary second...

I think they should have a countdown clock to their countdown clock so we don't forget to watch.

Sarah Palin responds to allegations made this morning by Levi Johnston, the father of her grandson.

"We have purposefully ignored the mean spirited, malicious and untrue attacks on our family. We, like many, are appalled at the inflammatory statements being made or implied. Trig is our 'blessed little angel' who knows it and is lovingly called that every day of his life. Even the thought that anyone would refer to Trig by any disparaging name is sickening and sad. CBS should be ashamed for continually providing a forum to propagate lies. Consider the source of the most recent attention-getting lies -- those who would sell their body for money reflect a desperate need for attention and are likely to say and do anything for even more attention."

She's responding to this. I could go on forever, but these two gems stuck out:

"Those who would sell their body..." The poor English alone is enough to make one disregard anything Barbie McLipSchmutz says. But let's go on anyway...

But the sign was almost a no-show thanks to some locals who were willing to compromise the First Amendment for their cause. In September, city planners voted to bar the "Sarah Palin for President 2012" billboard, citing restrictive ordinances on size and scope.

FoxNews.com's Roger Friedman Fired For "Promoting" Piracy

DeadlineHollywoodDaily's Nikki Finke reports FOX has fired FoxNews.com entertainment writer, Roger Friedman.

A column by Friedman, which has since been removed, seemed to endorse watching pirated DVDs in the wake of the "Wolverine" leak this week.

According to Finke, Friedman wrote he had watched the upcoming movie by downloading it illegally [...]

Wow, he got fired for pirating, and extra crispy idiocy! Good move, there, R Fried, putting it all right out there in print, strutting your illegal stuff in order to earn a few "looka me, I'm sodamncool" points:

“I did find the whole top 10 [movies in theaters], plus TV shows, commercials, videos, everything, all streaming away. It took really less than seconds to start playing it all right onto my computer. I could have downloaded all of it but really, who has the time or the room? Later tonight I may finally catch up with Paul Rudd in I Love You, Man. It’s so much easier than going out in the rain!”

Finke (who needs to use spell check more often):

I'm told that Fox News' actions were swift and severe. First, Roger Ailes, who overseas Fox News, deleted the offending post after he was contacted by 20th Century Fox about it. And then Ailes fired Friedman as a freelance Fox News entertainment writer. I hear the move was done with the full support of News Corp. "He promoted piracy. He basically suggested that viewing a stolen film is OK, which is absolutely intolerable. So we fired him," a source told me Saturday. "Fox News acted promptly on all fronts."

FOX is very concerned about digital copyrights. they have YouTube yank anything from Fox. You can't get fired for promoting the assassination of the president, but if you promote a practice that could cut into FOX royalties, watch out.

Fox accuses Obama of trying to impose Sharia law

As Jed notes, not an April Fools Joke.

The entirety of Fox’s claim is based on an e-mail posted on March 21, 2007 in National Review’s blog claiming that Yale Law School Dean Harold Koh — now an appointee to the State Department — had indicated that Sharia could apply in the U.S.

According to White House spokesman Reid Cherlin, the allegations contained in the e-mail are false. Moreover, in an article buried on its website, Fox conceded that that it has been unable to reach the author of the e-mail posted by National Review.

But that didn’t stop Fox from quoting from the e-mail’s account and claiming that the e-mail was a direct quote from Koh, and it didn’t stop Fox from making the absurd claim that the Obama administration is seeking to impose Sharia law upon the U.S.

Rep. Michele Bachmann: The Obama administration is "completely socializing the American economy"

Michele Blech-ch-mann is at it again. When exactly did she escape from her rubber room? I've forgotten:

Some Republicans in Congress are continuing to warn that President Obama is intent on turning the United States into a socialist nation.

That homo-loving socialist abortionist pinko-in-chief! Why, if it hadn't been for him, this economy would be thriving the way Boss Limbaugh thrives on Oxycontin and indiscriminate wingnut adulation.

Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann pressed the socialism argument on Thursday, telling a conservative radio show that the Obama administration is "completely socializing the American economy" with its mortgage relief proposals and bailouts of financial institutions.

What?! Why, that's treasonous! Impeach Obama now! Allow Boss Limbaugh, the de fatso president, to take office before it's too late!

"What we've seen them do in the last five weeks is nothing short of a great leap forward toward than finalizing a place of socialism in American economic life," Bachmann told radio host G. Gordon Liddy. "We have never seen this level of socialism in the history of our country, and I think the American people would be floored when the understand the dramatic steps that Obama has taken for our future."

Thank god she's here to save us from ourselves! If only Bush had been able to stay in office, none of this would have happened, the market would be at 30,000, free health care would be available to everyone, world peace would have been achieved, and the Constitution would once again become the standard by which we all live!

"Will we be a country that will go forward with liberty, freedom and prosperity, or will we be a country that's mired in Eastern European, Western European doldrums, where freedom is limited and taxation remains high?" she asked.

What a patriot. But she wasn't alone:

Tennessee Rep. Zach Wamp, who is also running for governor in his home state, told MSNBC that the president's health care proposals represent "a fast march toward socialism."

No video was available of Wamp (that's some name) feeling up Bush. Or maybe it was confiscated. Oh my. Did I just start a rumor?

Sarah Palin fan mistakenly buys effigy with noose on EBay

Even Grandma Ditz's fans are brainless, but that's probably due to their diligence in trying to emulate her.

First, they bid on used, malodorous, overpriced high heels, and now we have this ill-thought-out transaction:

The controversial Sarah Palin mannequin with a noose around its neck sold for $2,247.22 Thursday on EBay, but it's not leaving its West Hollywood home.

The auction winner, who lives in Los Angeles County, thought he was bidding on a pro-Palin and pro-John McCain item and didn't realize its true nature until he heard about the auction on talk radio, said the mannequin's seller, ChadMichael Morrisette.

I'd suggest to the buyer to hang his head in shame, but that would be a politically incorrect choice of words.

Grandma McIncoherent, you don't know me at all, yet you've hypocritically labeled me the way you accuse others of labeling you. I'm a blogger, yet little do you know that I'm rarely bored and I don't lie (Hey, it's not like I haven't tried, I've just failed miserably). But that's okay, you have nothing left in your arsenal. I'm here if you need to vent.

As for pathetic, I can safely and proudly say I've never been called that, but, hmmm, let's think real hard... who has? Oh yes! You! Over and over again:

Sarah Palin fired a new salvo in her war on the media, unloading in a new interview on her home state paper and “bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie.”

The Alaska governor, who has granted a steady stream of interviews since Election Day, also told an Esquire reporter that she wishes she had told McCain campaign advisors she’d be “callin’ some of the shots.”

"Bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie annoy me….I'll tell you, yesterday the Anchorage Daily News, they called again to ask — double-, triple-, quadruple-check — who is Trig's real mom,” she said, in an interview to be published in the magazine’s March issue.

“And I said, Come on, are you kidding me? We're gonna answer this? Do you not believe me [Laffy Note: No.] or my doctor? And they said, No, it's been quite cryptic the way that my son's birth has been discussed. And I thought, Okay, more indication of continued problems in the world of journalism."

But Palin said she had adopted a philosophical attitude on the downside of the spotlight. "You have to let it go,” she said. “Even hard news sources, credible news sources — the comment about, you can see Russia from Alaska. You can! You can see Russia from Alaska. Something like that — a factual statement that was taken out of context and mocked — what you have to do is let that go."

Where to begin? First off, if letting go is what one "has to do", McIncoherent may want to take her own advice. The contradictory nature of this interview had me laying my head down, pounding my desk with my fist, and laughing until my eyes welled up with tears.

Next: McIncoherent is revealing her Bush III side once again: blaming the media for her own failures, for starters. But, just as Bush's final press conference did nothing to improve his reputation as someone who has utterly no self-awareness (or awareness of anything around him), neither did Grandma's interview.

Oh, and nobody cared much whether or not Russia was visible from Alaska, although her claim did inspire many an amusing YouTube. No, it was her using that visual to tout her foreign policy experience that widened both Democratic and Republican eyes alike.

I won't go on. It would take more effort and space than she's worth.

One more Bushism from the mental equivalent of our soon-to-be former president [sic]:

Despite a season of barbs aimed at the coastal elites, Palin seemed to offer an olive branch to the Big Apple: "I would think we all tear up during the national anthem at the beginning of a baseball game, don't we? That's an alikeness between Alaskans and New Yorkers," she said.

That last Palinism was a perfect example of an embarrassing alikeness between a dippy Alaskan and a faux Texan.

UPDATE-- Even HuckaScout'sHonor slams Palin:

Mike Huckabee (R), a likely Republican presidential candidate in 2012, took a shot at Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R), one of his possible rivals, in an Esquire interview.

Said Huckabee: "Now I must say I did not think that either the Charlie Gibson interview or the Katie Couric interviews were unfair. In fact, if anything, Katie Couric was extraordinarily gentle, even helpful. [Palin] just... I don't know what happened. I can't explain it. It was not a good interview. I'm being charitable."

Apparently, GOP Campaign 2012 is in full swing.
