Tea Baggers fine with big government when it comes to racial profiling

By GottaLaff

Dave Weigel found something interesting. The Tea Tantrumers are all for "big government" aka police states, after all.... at least when it comes to racial profiling in Arizona (click on image to enlarge):

So, here is one effort to give government more power that tea partiers are not pounding the pavement to oppose.

The Tea Bagger notification goes on to say:

We know that many of you work, but we have received word from the AZ State Capitol, that there are many anti-immigration people at the Capitol (and we think they are staying all night). They are also being bused in from California.

We are asking for you to spread the word to see if anyone is available to come down there "today" (Thursday) to show your support of the bill.

They are meeting by the Arizona Flag on the House Lawn. Bring American Flags and signs if possible.

Also, it is still very important to please call Governor Brewer at: 602-542-4331

We are also planning on going back on Friday at 11:00 A.M. (unless the Governor does the right thing and signs the bill). We are now hearing that she said she will do something on Friday.

Signs: We support "LEGAL" Immigration, In Mexico, You Must Be Legal... Why not here? - etc... (Printable signs will be placed below)

So "Obamacare" is intrusive and Marxist/commie/fascist/socialistic, but busting people for not "showing their papers" while wearing the wrong shoes is just dandy by them.

No hypocrisy there.

Crashing the 'tea party'

By GottaLaff

Tim Rutten has a column in today's L.A. Times in which he cites the latest New York Times/CBS poll. He provides the actual numbers in the article.

He also reveals the Tea Baggers for who they are: "Angry white males" who are screaming their rage at federal programs they support and who are aiding and abetting Republican politicians and consultants.

How's that fakey grassrootsy thing workin' out for ya?

As it turns out, fewer than 1 in 5 Americans "supports" the tea party movement in any respect, and just 4% of all adult Americans have contributed to it or attended one of its events or both. (On any given day, you probably could drum up twice as many people who think the Pentagon is hiding dead aliens in Area 51.)

There's your million white man march, ClusterFox.

They're the "angry white males" we've been reading about since political strategist-turned-analyst Kevin Phillips first identified them as an electoral presence during Richard Nixon's successful presidential campaign in 1968. [...]

They aren't, however, implacable foes of "big government" or even of taxes.

They are, however, foes of the black man in the White House.

What the movement really amounts to is old wine in new skins, a re-branding of the old-fashioned angry white male in a camera-ready package tailored to the demands of the 24-hour cable news cycle.

That's something BendyStraw McMoneyBags and Sean Hannity are all too familiar with.

By staging rallies on April 15, and particularly in Washington, the tea party's strategists made themselves and their speakers the center of cable news coverage. This was true despite the fact that, as the poll demonstrates, a majority of the movement's supporters think their taxes are fair.

Why, that would make them hypocrites!

[T]he public packaging of the tea party movement -- and particularly events that win it TV airtime, like cross-country bus tours, rallies and ads -- is mainly the product of California Republican political consultants, foremost among them the Sacramento-based firm of Russo Marsh and Rogers.

Why that would make them hypocrites who have been duped, used, and will soon be tossed out like used Palin water bottles!

It's good to see that all the creeping socialism in the nation hasn't silenced traditional voices, like those of the angry white male, nor wrung the profit motive from our politics.

And that's the way it (really) is.

Quote of the Day

"I think this is part of a broader problem with the Obama administration. ... We saw it in Honduras. Where rather than monitoring the situation, they let a cowboy president try to act in an extra-constitutional way to violate a fundamental principle in the Constitution, all without having done their homework in advance,"

- Karl Rove, when asked about Obama's handling of the Biden-Netanyahu row.
I started out bolding the truly heinous parts, but the whole thing is just beyond the pale. Via Sullivan.

TPC EXCLUSIVE- State Rep. Abramson talks Jindal priorities: Superdome suite v. mental health services

By GottaLaff

http://house.louisiana.gov/H_Reps/RepPics07/rep98.jpg
Cutting services to those who desperately need them is becoming a habit over in JindalLand. He is now gutting all mental health care in Louisiana to fill the Medicare budget shortfall:
The state also plans to shift money from its mental health and public health programs into the Medicaid budget, where it can draw federal matching money. Levine said the agency has no plans for layoffs, but that workers in the three state-run psychiatric hospitals will be working fewer hours and that as a result the number of staffers per patient will decrease.
Sidebar: Jindal didn't show up at a big-- make that huge-- opening of a World War II Museum. Was he afraid that someone might connect the sore subject of mental health issues/veterans/the military, the tragedy at Ft. Hood and the need for proper psychological care? That would put him in a bit of a mental health pickle. A stretch? Maybe. Just a thought.
Gordon "Nick" Mueller, the museum's co-founder, president and chief executive officer, stressed the symbolic importance of the building, one of the biggest local construction projects since Hurricane Katrina laid waste to the New Orleans area in August 2005.

"The whole museum is in the American spirit," he said.
Bobby must have been too busy doing important stuff like turning down stimulus checks to attend. Oh wait.

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpiOpelyDYWDPAyU7vnKx0AF8sHTXSwasPu1J3h5f89MtTgqzDFAMZHD5pI6H_KG-7SZVjr-yF795IKvDMfcFB2ZO-aDpAewTGIRHwi0YuEpPLVQcpv76VlFSkXyxv4MCyiVUddzE1oMub/s400/jindalstimulus.jpg

But back to funding issues. Apparently, shoring up Medicaid with cuts to mental health facilities isn't as upsetting to Health and Hospitals Secretary Alan Levine as the dearth of alcohol and fancy schmancy shrimp and oysters in Ba-Ba-Ba-Bobby's own private Superdome suite:
While the New Orleans Saints storybook season has made them the hottest ticket in town, it also has driven up demand for the governor's private suite in the Superdome. [...]

"It's certainly an honor to be invited, but you don't get to spend a whole lot of time watching the game," said Health and Hospitals Secretary Alan Levine, who was on hand for last Monday's game against the Atlanta Falcons. Besides, Levine said, the governor's box doesn't come with the same amenities as the neighboring suites. "You walk by the other boxes and you see shrimp and you see oysters and you see alcohol, and you walk into the governor's box and there (are) literally just plastic cups next to the sink."
Maybe Levine could snatch a few dollars from what was formerly the mental health budget and buy his own gourmet nummies.

If you recall, I previously posted about the horrific mental health crisis in New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, plus State Rep. Neil Abramson's exclusive comments here. A short excerpt from my interview with him:
The real problem, unfortunately, is this became an issue of politics: Who has the idea and whether or not we need to be problem solvers, not bean counters.

Jindal decided to save money, to consolidate two state mental hospitals into one. It became obvious to me that you can save all the money you want, but the facility HAD to be in New Orleans to address the needs of the patients.
Yesterday State Rep. Abramson sent me another exclusive e-mail:
Governor Jindal already closed the only public mental health hospital in New Orleans. Now, Alan Levine, Jindal's secretary of Department of Health & Hospital, proposes cutting more mental health services in order to save medicaid money.
Yes, that is the same Alan Levine who has public longings for shrimp. Moving on:
As a member of the legislature, we found a way to keep the mental health hospital open in New Orleans, working with the economic constraints of our balanced budget. Yet, Governor Jindal vetoed that funding and closed the hospital. Now, his administration is targeting more mental health cuts throughout Louisiana.

At some point, his administration needs to recognize that mental health is health care, and particularly after Hurricane Katrina, there is a desperate need for mental health care treatment. It's time we focus on being problem-solvers and address the needs of our citizens, rather than just being bean counters and cutting to cut.
Here comes the part about Secretary Shrimp:
It's more interesting that these additional devastating cuts in mental health care in Louisiana come at the same time of reports in our local newspaper about political friends, including Secretary Levine, enjoying the Governor's suite at the Super Dome for Saints games. Secretary Levine apparently commented that the suite wasn't anything special because it didn't have boiled shrimp or raw oysters like the other suites. I don't think these culinary cutbacks at a posh suite during a Monday Night NFL game are quite the same type of sacrifices as eliminating mental health care for the people of Louisiana.
Pretty revealing priorities, there, Sec. Shrimp.

Maybe if health care centers provided tasty buffets, you and Bobby would feel more compelled to support them. Meanwhile, I dare you to hold a town hall meeting with a few of the suffering patients and Katrina victims who no longer have a safe haven, let alone free booze and oyster treats.

VIDEO- Freedomworks activist: "It's not a grassroots event. They're all paid." American flags not welcome.

By GottaLaff

Oh my, the deception... How does it feel to be squashed by the Enormous Corporate Foot, Freedomworks flag wavers? Will you believe us now? Silly question.

This is one of those videos you have to watch all the way through:

Big Oil barred Freedomworks recruits/activists from their astroturf event. Can you say, "Schadenfreude"?

Disguising a company picnic as a citizen's energy rally, private security and police barred interested citizens from entering the "astroturf" event. Even though they advertised the event as a public, grassroots rally, and even had emails sent out encouraging people to attend, not even staunch supporters of the industry's stance on climate legislation were allowed in. The only people allowed through the doors were those with petroleum company employee badges and yellow "Energy Citizen" t-shirts that were handed out amongst the employees.

Health Care Hypocrisy Watch: Hurry up and wait

By GottaLaff

Stealing from David Kurtz, because it's worth going to Blogosphere Jail for:

Remember this?

President George W. Bush signed into law Thursday the first major piece of legislation of his presidency, a $1.35 trillion tax cut over 10 years.

Of the six senators begging President Obama to slow down health care reform, four of them -- Mary Landrieu (D-LA), Ben Nelson (D-NE), Olympia Snowe (R-ME), and Susan Collins (R-ME) -- voted for those huge Bush tax cuts.

Their votes were cast on May 26, 2001. Bush signed the tax cuts into law on June 7, 2001. Here we are in mid-July, eight years later, struggling to get health care reform passed by the end of the year.

So whatever these four foot-draggers are saying about why they want health care reform slowed down (and Nelson, for one, was all over the place yesterday warning against "rushing into this"), it's not really about wanting to be more deliberative or avoid ballooning the deficit. All you have to do is look back to 2001. Their records speak for themselves.

The Internets are a bitch, aren't they...?

Family Values? RNC Web site promoting anti-Semitic, anti-Latino, and pornographic literature

By GottaLaff

I'm running out of synonyms for "astonishing", "offensive", "despicable", "bigotry", "hypocrisy", and "just plain stupid":

[T]he GOP started promoting it's new Web site, http://www.gop.com/obamacard/. The site is supposed to showcase how much money President Obama is supposedly spending by letting you, the visitor, spend money too on your new "Obama credit card." [...]

Just what products does the RNC propose you buy with your new Obama credit card? Anti-semitic, anti-Latino, and overtly pornographic literature - with pictures to boot.

Basically, the RNC site is set up as a faux online business, like Amazon.com, where you can buy goods by doing word searches. Search for the word "car," for instance, and you get pictures of various cars and how much you can pay for them with your ObamaCard.

But don't stop there. Do a search for products dealing with the word "Jew" and the RNC suggests you buy the book "The Jews and Their Lies" (bottom left).

Type in "Latino" and get "The Latino Threat."

But the real fun starts when you type in the word "gay."

Gay, you see, is banned by the RNC (at least they haven't lost their sense of irony). "Homosexual," however, is a product you can buy at the RNC site, and oh what they showcase with that word (note the two men in the upper left corner - perhaps they're just very close friends, like Lindsey Graham and Aaron Schock).

I'll stop there. Please go to AMERICAblog for the rest. If you dare.

Reporters gettin' played

By GottaLaff

Via TPM, on this whole "look over here!" shiny keys Nancy Pelosi issue:
That says it all. She wants it all investigated. The whole point of this storm about Pelosi is that her critics want her to be embarrassed and stop supporting a Truth Commission or any sort of examination of what happened. But she's not. She still says there should be an investigation. Her critics still want the book closed. That says it all. She'll have to stand or fall with the results of an actual investigation. Her opponents on this are simply risible hypocrites.
Risible hypocrites. Yup.

Meghan McCain: The GOP Doesn't Understand Sex

By GottaLaff

http://www.eastofeuclid.com/gallery/downloads/natalia_shocked.jpghttp://images.teamsugar.com/files/upl0/1/12981/07_2008/sex.jpghttp://musikality.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/shocked.jpg

We've been well aware of this for some time, but hey, MegMac's only 24. That's okay, she'll catch up:
Let me get something straight: Bristol Palin, as an eighteen-year-old adult, is free to make her own choices and decide how she wants her life to unfold. But for whatever reasons, the American public and media remain overly engrossed in our politicians’ sex lives and, as in this case, those of their families. There’s an especially unhealthy attitude among conservatives. Daughters of Republican politicians aren’t expected to have sex, let alone enjoy it—as if there were some strange chastity belt automatically attached to us female offspring. God forbid anyone talk realistically about life experiences and natural, sexual instincts. Nope, the answer is always abstinence. [...]

Perhaps the worst sexual double standard in politics right now is that too many subconsciously believe Republican women are void of sexual desire altogether, never mind its consequences.A friend of mine, whose father is also a conservative politician, used to joke it would be easier for her be a lesbian because then there would be no risk of getting pregnant and having a resulting scandal.

I have always found this joke incredibly sad—for both of us. Because the GOP continues to struggle with open communication about serious issues most people deal with rationally, and on a regular basis. Unless we learn how to integrate that kind of discussion, our party will continue its descent into irrelevance. We live in a big world, one where you can contract a life-long STD, have an unplanned pregnancy, or get date-raped, just to name a few of the dangerous results of having sex. We should prepare our kids for it, realistically. Then they might be more apt to make the right choices when they live in it themselves. Bottom line: honesty isn’t a liberal or conservative issue. It’s a human one. The sooner we realize that, the better off we’ll be.

MegMac did fine and dandy with this piece, if you don't count the fact that there's nothing new in it. Well, maybe there is for her. Maybe this is an epiphany?

However, she forgot to mention that along with the Rushpublic hypocrisy comes hostility, proselytizing, nasty intolerance, and an insufferable holier-than-thou attitude, plus that special way they have of shunning anyone who disagrees with them. Maybe one day she'll have an epiphany about that, too.

You can read the rest here.

Arizona State University president suggests he fears political backlash from Obama honorary degree decision

Wrong, so very wrong. I blame Bishop D'Arcy and all the other hypocrites.

Arizona State University President Michael Crow suggested Saturday in an email to faculty and students that he was hesitant to award President Obama an honorary degree because of potential political consequences to the state-supported school.

"Since my appointment we have not awarded honorary degrees to sitting politicians, a practice based on the very practical realities of operating a public university in our political environment," Crow wrote in the message, obtained by POLITICO.

He added: "We are a young and emerging university in a new and politically complex state."

Arizona is home to Obama's 2008 opponent, Sen. John McCain, and also has a Republican governor and GOP-controlled legislature.
On a related note- Bishop D'Arcy urges people to stay away from anti-ND, anti-Obama rallies. Let's see how much reverence that piece of slime Terry has for the Bishop's decision now. What do you think will win, his quest for attention or the rule of the church?

Civil Rights Group Mobilizing On Dawn Johnsen's Behalf

By GottaLaff

My original posts about Dawn Johnsen's potential here, and the GOP filibuster threat here. But... and there's nearly always a but... thankfully, civil rights groups are all over this:

While it's not clear how serious Senate Republicans are about filibustering Dawn Johnsen's nomination as chief of the Office of Legal Counsel at DOJ, civil rights groups aren't waiting to find out.

Marge Baker, executive vice president of People for the American Way says, "We're going to do whatever we can to mobilize our members to make sure they're in contact with their representatives."

She says they'll be armed with two stories: that, contra Sen. John Cornyn, Johnsen is eminently qualified to head the OLC [...] and that GOP calls for a filibuster are hypocritical given the Republicans' usual contention that the president should have broad leeway to choose his advisers and cabinet officials, and their opposition to the filibuster for judicial nominees.

Baker:

"It's not ok to filibuster a lifetime appointment but it is ok to filibuster a temporary one?" She asked rhetorically. "It should be backward."

Speaking of backward... scilbuphsuR.

Senator Evan Bayh, Hypocrite of Indiana

Not so sure about calling him a Democrat any more. Now, I have no problem with sensible earmarks, but you don't do this kind of crap unless you're up to being criticized for it. More about the other hypocrites at the link, but I'm focused on Bayh.

Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh (D) opposed yesterday's $410 billion omnibus spending bill because it was "bloated" and included $7.7 billion in earmarks. “At a time when so many American families are tightening their belts to make ends meet, Congress should be as equally committed to living within its means," he said in a statement.

(snip)

But as it turns out, according to Taxpayers for Common Sense, Bayh had four solo earmarks attached to his name in the legislation, worth $2.7 million; McConnell had 36 totaling $51 million; and Inhofe had 34 earmarks worth $53 million.

Indeed, of the 35 U.S. senators who opposed the omnibus spending bill last night -- in the form of a "no" on the cloture vote -- 28 of them had solo earmarks in the legislation.

(snip)

When First Read asked Bayh's office why he opposed the legislation yet had earmarks in it, spokesman Eric Kleiman replied, "Bayh ranks 78th in total earmarks in the omnibus bill. He was also one of only two Dem senators to vote for the McCain amendment last week to strip all earmarks from the bill, even his own."

Kleiman added, "As the recession has deepened in the last year, Sen. Bayh believes Congress should show faith with the American people and demonstrate the federal government is capable of living within its means.**"

**How's that for a non-answer answer?

The wedding is off: Bristol Palin totally broke up with Levi

By GottaLaff

http://images.huffingtonpost.com/2009-01-06-bae8192379d34036810442b4ffcc29ed.jpg
Shhh! Don't tell Limelight Palin... Bristol has embraced freedom of choice again. First, she decided to keep the baby, and now, well, so much for wedded bliss:
Sarah Palin's 18-year-old daughter Bristol has reportedly broken off her engagement with Levi Johnston, the father of her 2-month-old son Tripp. It's surprising because in an interview just last month with FOX's Gretta Van Susteren, Bristol said the 19-year-old Levi is a hands-on dad and that they planned on marrying after finishing their education.
What's so surprising? Maybe they never finished school... which, based on their ability to make educated decisions, seems pretty obvious.
But in a new interview with Star Magazine, Levi's sister Mercede Johnston says Bristol actually broke up with Levi more than a month ago, is not attending school and rarely lets her baby daddy see their young son.
Told ya so.
Mercede also says Bristol even told him that she hates him and, when she learned she was pregnant, wished the baby wasn't his.
Wow, that's pretty harsh. She could have said she was just not that into him.
Mercede told Star: "Bristol's just crazy. That's the nicest way I can put it. ..."
Good job, Mercede! What could be more tactful than that?
Apparently, Levi is also far from being a hands-on dad. Said Mercede: "Levi tries to visit Tripp every single day, but Bristol makes it nearly impossible for him. She tells him he can't take the baby to our house because she doesn't want him around 'white trash.' She treats him so badly!"
I dunno. Next to a few choice comments Mommy Dearest spouted during Election 2008, this is mild stuff.

Of course, these new revelations make one ponder: Part of the Palin/McCain refrain was family values. And what was all that giddy talk of the two lovebirds getting married, and showcasing the Lovey-Dovey Newly Engaged Young Republicans all over the country, so America could see for themselves that they were "doing the right thing" despite their "mistake"?

Seems none of that matters any more. But it will, especially around, oh-h-h, 2012. Just not at the moment. President Obama's cleaning up the disastrous messes the Palin Party made is stealing the spotlight, and isn't that convenient?

Study: Utah Leads Nation in Online Porn Purchases, Sales Higher Nationwide in Religious Areas

By GottaLaff

http://montaraventures.com/pix/computerporn.jpg
Hyp. O. Crites, Inc.:

A study of the online porn purchases nationwide by Harvard Business School uncovered something surprising (or maybe not). Residents of right-wing religious areas purchase more porn than those in liberal areas:

Those states that do consume the most porn tend to be more conservative and religious than states with lower levels of consumption, the study finds.

Some of the people who are most outraged turn out to be consumers of the very things they claimed to be outraged by,” [Benjamin Edelman of Harvard Business School] says.

I'm not surprised. Are you surprised? I'm not surprised. I already said that, but I said it again for emphasis.

And guess which religion appears to be the most porn-obsessed? Yup, Mormons:

The biggest consumer, Utah, averaged 5.47 adult content subscriptions per 1000 home broadband users; Montana bought the least with 1.92 per 1000. “The differences here are not so stark,” Edelman says.

Number 10 on the list was West Virginia at 2.94 subscriptions per 1000, while number 41, Michigan, averaged 2.32.

Eight of the top 10 pornography consuming states gave their electoral votes to John McCain in last year’s presidential election – Florida and Hawaii were the exceptions. While six out of the lowest 10 favoured Barack Obama.

Repressed much, righties?

Of course, this study was done by the Harvard Business School, so we should completely discount it. We all know that they're all nothing but a bunch of gay atheist sex addicts with nothing better to do than... reveal the truth.

Residents of 27 states that passed laws banning gay marriages boasted 11 percent more porn subscribers than states that don’t explicitly restrict gay marriage.

Let's recap:

Rightie wingnuts: Gay = bad. Porn = dandy.

Let me rephrase that:

Healthy, loving same-sex relationships = Immoral sexual behavior.

X-rated online voyeurism = Religious Rightie version of monogamous, hetero loving relationships.

Moral: If you vote Republican and pray a lot, you get to regularly enjoy the company of your favorite cyber boinkers, as long as you condemn it publicly.

Louisiana to seek New Orleans-Baton Rouge passenger rail line from federal stimulus pot that Jindal called wasteful

No clue what they're doing, just lashing out.

BATON ROUGE - Louisiana's transportation department plans to request federal dollars for a New Orleans to Baton Rouge passenger rail service from the same pot of railroad money in the president's economic stimulus package that Gov. Bobby Jindal criticized as unnecessary pork on national television Tuesday night.

The high-speed rail line, a topic of discussion for years, would require $110 million to upgrade existing freight lines and terminals to handle a passenger train operation, said Mark Lambert, spokesman for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development.

Jindal on Tuesday delivered the official Republican Party response to President Barack Obama's address to Congress. He criticized the stimulus package passed by the Democratic-majority in Congress and the president and noted examples of projects that he found objectionable.

"While some of the projects in the bill make sense, their legislation is larded with wasteful spending," Jindal said. "It includes ... $8 billion for high-speed rail projects, such as a 'magnetic levitation' line from Las Vegas to Disneyland."

Lindsey Graham: Hypocrite of the Week

By GottaLaff

http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/j/msnbc/Components/Photo/_new/080904-lindsay-graham-hmed-6p.hmedium.jpg
My new bff Mark Karlin over at Buzzflash e-mailed me with this addition to our previous posts about the hypocrisy of Mark Sanford and Rick Perry:
It's all a ruse by Sanford and Perry. One, they can refuse all the money and their state legislatures can override them, which they'll do. Or they can just refuse some tiny project and claim they rejected the wasteful money while accepting 98% of it.
Mark included Buzzflash's Hypocrite of the Week post, starring Lindsey Graham. Here are a few excerpts:

Talk about foreclosing on a bakery and then demanding a free cake. That's what most Republicans who voted against the "Main Street Job Creation Act" -- denouncing it as just short of Satanic -- are doing for the most part. They are now crowing about what all that "wasted" money will do to benefit their home states or districts.

Take Lindsey Graham of South Carolina. The Neo-Confederate U.S. Senator is wasting no time in boasting about bringing home the bacon when just a few short days ago, he was denouncing a jobs creation bill as pork. [...]

In essence, Graham is saying he opposed the "Main Street Job Creation Act" even though it would be political suicide not to distribute the money to the voters of his state. He was joined in rabid obstruction of the bill by his fellow Republican, Senator Jim "Stonewall Jackson" DeMint.

As BuzzFlash Editor Mark Karlin proposed a couple of weeks back, the state of any senator who opposed the "Main Street Job Creation Act" should only receive half their allotted funds. If both senators opposed the bill, the state should receive no federal allotment from the legislation.

That way, hypocrites such as Lindsey Graham couldn't grandstand their zealotry and then pass out the goodies that they fought against.

In fact, Graham represents one of the many GOP Neo-Confederate states that receives more money from the federal government than their citizens pay in taxes. That sort of makes South Carolina a welfare state as far as the Union is concerned.

As for Lindsey Graham, he's become a talk show regular spouting GOP talking points -- and then practicing the chronic hypocrisy of being a Republican welfare king for his constituents.

Thank you, Mark, for passing all that along.

Everyone Has Their Price -- Grandstanding GOP Gov. Perry Taking Stimulus Money

By GottaLaff

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2340/2037873962_c55d13270c.jpg
(via)

Paddy posted earlier about Governor Sanford. Now we pull the curtains back on another hypocrite who is now for the money after being against it:

Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who co-wrote an op-ed piece with South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford about all the things that were wrong with the bill, has now informed the White House that he'll accept the money.
It's okay, though, he's only taking some of the money. That makes him, what, half a hypocrite?

Perry is, however, leaving the door open to not taking all of it, as he doesn't want to spend money that would expand existing social programs, and thus trap him into having to continue the increases later on with state money.

See? Qualifiers make all the difference. I think I'll go rob part of a bank, so I don't get sent to, you know, prison.

Then I'm going to congratulate my friend on achieving semi-pregnancy so as to avoid a meaningful increase in the size of her family.

And thankfully, eating a half gallon of Häagen Dazs should have no effect on my cholesterol, so long as I'm not trapped into having to continue eating the other half.

Fox News producer busted for child porn

By GottaLaff

This is so sick, and so typically hypocritical of Fox, whose on-air personalities' sanctimonious spew isn't worth the saliva it takes to spit out their self-righteous words:

A TVNewser tipster tells us Aaron Bruns, a producer in the Fox News Channel Washington, D.C. bureau, has been arrested and charged with one count of possession of child pornography. A Fox News spokesperson confirms, telling TVNewser, "We are aware of the arrest and he is currently suspended without pay."

This is the same Aaron Bruns who was embedded with Hillary Clinton's campaign. That Aaron Bruns.

FishbowlDC reports this is not Bruns' first run-in with the law. He dropped out of the University of Michigan in 1999 after being arrested on charges of distributing child pornography. So why wasn't Bruns checked out by Fox News? A network spokesperson tells TVNewser criminal background checks were not instituted until 2003. Bruns was hired in 2002.

If you have a really strong stomach, you can see the arrest affidavit here, at The Smoking Gun.
