By GottaLaff

L'chaim!

Chelsea Clinton, daughter of President Bill Clinton and Hillary Rodham Clinton will not be having a traditional Christian wedding but are planning a Jewish wedding since her future husband, Marc Mexvinsky is Jewish.

The bride and groom announced their wedding in November and are just now talking openly about the groom’s Jewish religion. Much of the talk that is circulating is coming from Jewish Community Centers who are looking eagerly to having a member of President Bill Clinton’s family join their Community.

Counting down to the anti-Semitic jokes and smears. And 5...4...3...2...

In the meantime, mazel tov!

Rush Limbaugh getting married... again

You have to really wonder what kind of trauma she went thru as a child. Were her only toys a Jabba The Hutt cuddly and Slime? (Don't think too long on the Slime)

Congrats to Rush Limbaugh! We hear he's finally set a date get married for a fourth time—appropriately enough, it is the Fourth of July!

The lucky lady: Kathryn "Kate" Rogers. We're not sure where the wedding is taking place, yet, but Rush reads the site, so maybe he'll let us know!

Rush loves the holidays: his last wedding was on Memorial Day, 1994. Prior to that, his second wife left him on Christmas.

Chelsea Clinton to marry

I'm sure this won't turn into a media circus...

Chelsea Clinton is engaged to her longtime boyfriend Marc Mezvinsky, a spokesman for former President Clinton confirmed to ABC News.

(snip)

Mezvinsky works at Goldman Sachs; his parents are both former members of Congress. His father pleaded guilty in 2002 to swindling dozens of investors out of $10 million after getting caught up in a Nigerian scam. Interestingly, his mother lost her seat in a conservative congressional district after one term in part because she chose to vote for President Clinton's health care reform.

Good news story: Former Gitmo detainee weds in Australia

By GottaLaff

http://www.halogendjs.com.au/dj-packages/images/Wedding%20Disc%20Jockey%20Melbounre.jpg

The cool story that DoJ doesn't publicize:
The first Guantanamo Bay detainee to be convicted under the U.S. military commission system was married over the weekend in a Christian wedding in Australia, his father said Monday.
But... but... all detainees are terrorists who will wander into your back yard and kill you if they run loose! And they're... they're... all bad, evil Muslim brown people!

David Hicks, an Australia-born Muslim convert who was captured by the U.S.-backed Northern Alliance in Afghanistan in late 2001, gave up his Islamic beliefs during his 5 1/2 years as a prisoner at the U.S. naval base on Cuba, his father said. [...]

The wedding guests included Michael Mori, the Pentagon-appointed Marine Corps defense lawyer who brokered David Hicks' plea bargain on terrorism charges in March 2007, Terry Hicks said. [...]

"He's well on his way now" to regaining a normal life, he added.

IMHO, I'm not sure how one regains a normal life after years of living hell. Hats off and congratulations to David Hicks.

From the Dep't. of It's About Time: David Letterman marries longtime girlfriend

David Letterman and Regina Lasko got married on March 19. Mr. Romantic tells the story:

“On Thursday, at 3 p.m., March 19, 2009 at the Teton County Courthouse in Choteau, Montana, I was married to Regina Lasko,” Letterman said. “Regina and I began dating in February of 1986, and I said, ‘Well, things are going pretty good, let’s just see what happens in about 10 years….’

“I had avoided getting married pretty good for, like, 23 years, and I — honestly, whether this happened or not — I secretly felt that men who were married admired me … like I was the last of the real gunslingers, you know what I’m saying?”

Letterman and Lasko began dating when she worked on his late-night talk show. The couple welcomed their son, Harry, in 2003.

Letterman recounted the drive to the courthouse to the audience during Monday's taping.

“So now, we get ready to go and we’ve got to drive into the courthouse and it’s muddy, and we’re supposed to be there at 2, and it’s me, Regina and Harry in the truck, in the pickup truck,” Letterman said. “So we get two miles from the house and we get stuck in the mud — I mean, turn the truck over, stuck in the mud. So now we think, ‘Well, somebody’ll come — no, nobody comes along. Nobody comes along — it’s Thursday afternoon, who’s coming along, Zorro?

“No, nobody — so I get out of the truck and I walk 2 miles back to the house into a 50 mile an hour wind. It’s not Beverly Hills, it’s Montana, for God’s sakes. And the whole way, I’m thinking, ‘See, smart ass, see, see, you try to get married, this is what happens. See, well, you’ve got nobody to blame but yourself. Could have happened any other day, but you wait now, see, this is what you get.’

“So then we get in the car and Harry says, ‘Are we still going into town?’ and I said, ‘Yes, we are,’ and he gets very upset because mom had told him if I wasn’t back in an hour, the deal was off.”

Stupid bride and groom tricks.

The wedding is off: Bristol Palin totally broke up with Levi

By GottaLaff

Shhh! Don't tell Limelight Palin... Bristol has embraced freedom of choice again. First, she decided to keep the baby, and now, well, so much for wedded bliss:
Sarah Palin's 18-year-old daughter Bristol has reportedly broken off her engagement with Levi Johnston, the father of her 2-month-old son Tripp. It's surprising because in an interview just last month with FOX's Gretta Van Susteren, Bristol said the 19-year-old Levi is a hands-on dad and that they planned on marrying after finishing their education.
What's so surprising? Maybe they never finished school... which, based on their ability to make educated decisions, seems pretty obvious.
But in a new interview with Star Magazine, Levi's sister Mercede Johnston says Bristol actually broke up with Levi more than a month ago, is not attending school and rarely lets her baby daddy see their young son.
Told ya so.
Mercede also says Bristol even told him that she hates him and, when she learned she was pregnant, wished the baby wasn't his.
Wow, that's pretty harsh. She could have said she was just not that into him.
Mercede told Star: "Bristol's just crazy. That's the nicest way I can put it. ..."
Good job, Mercede! What could be more tactful than that?
Apparently, Levi is also far from being a hands-on dad. Said Mercede: "Levi tries to visit Tripp every single day, but Bristol makes it nearly impossible for him. She tells him he can't take the baby to our house because she doesn't want him around 'white trash.' She treats him so badly!"
I dunno. Next to a few choice comments Mommy Dearest spouted during Election 2008, this is mild stuff.

Of course, these new revelations make one ponder: Part of the Palin/McCain refrain was family values. And what was all that giddy talk of the two lovebirds getting married, and showcasing the Lovey-Dovey Newly Engaged Young Republicans all over the country, so America could see for themselves that they were "doing the right thing" despite their "mistake"?

Seems none of that matters any more. But it will, especially around, oh-h-h, 2012. Just not at the moment. President Obama's cleaning up the disastrous messes the Palin Party made is stealing the spotlight, and isn't that convenient?

Holy Crist! It's wedding time!

By GottaLaff

Gov. Charlie Crist and Carole Rome will marry and have a reception in St. Petersburg.
[SCOTT KEELER | Times]

And we thought he was only kidding. Doesn't he realize the election season's just about over and he has nothing to prove any more? I guess he didn't want to waste a good spray tan:
Invitations to Gov. Charlie Crist's upcoming nuptials are in the mail, and the guest list to the Dec. 12 event has become a source of chatter around the state.

The cream and pale pink invitations to Crist and fiancee Carole Rome's ceremony at First United Methodist Church in St. Petersburg began arriving last week.

Nobody seems to know who's invited. Secret guests? That's a new one.

A card enclosed in the invitations reads: "No gifts please, due to Florida law.''

Let's recap: Imaginary friends, imaginary presents... What happens when he wakes up and realizes he has a very real wife?

Keating to Gramm-pa McCain in 1986: ‘I’m yours til death do us part.’

By GottaLaff

Well, well, well. Look what Think Progress dug up:
The Washington Times reports that in 1986, John McCain wrote a note on House stationery to Charles Keating, chairman of a failed savings and loan association who went to prison in the late 1980s. In the letter, McCain apologized for listing Keating as part of his Senate campaign finance committee. Keating wrote in response: “You can call me anything, write anything or do anything. I’m yours till death do us part:

There you have it: Gramm-pa John Sidney McCain is married to Charles Humphrey Keating, Jr. Forever. (Bigamist!)

And since marriage is so important to these guys, they're stuck with each other forever. Until death do the two sleazeballs part.

More razzle-dazzle? McCain camp prays for Palin wedding

By GottaLaff

How perverse is it that Gramm-pa McCain's camp is hoping that a pregnant, unmarried 17-year-old will save their pathetic campaign? And would even think of using her in that way? They accuse Democrats of exploitation? Razzle-dazzle attempt #5710975:

IN an election campaign notable for its surprises, Sarah Palin, the Republican vice- presidential candidate, may be about to spring a new one — the wedding of her pregnant teenage daughter to her ice-hockey-playing fiancé before the November 4 election.

Inside John McCain’s campaign the expectation is growing that there will be a popularity boosting pre-election wedding in Alaska between Bristol Palin, 17, and Levi Johnston, 18, her schoolmate and father of her baby. “It would be fantastic,” said a McCain insider. “You would have every TV camera there. The entire country would be watching. It would shut down the race for a week.” [...]

[Palin] could benefit from a fresh injection of homespun authenticity, the hallmark of her style, provided by her daughter’s wedding after appearing out of depth away from her home state. [...]

McCain is expected to have a front-row seat at Bristol’s wedding and to benefit from the outpouring of goodwill that it could bring. “What’s the downside?” a source inside the McCain campaign said. “It would be wonderful. I don’t know that there has ever been a pre-election wedding before.” [...]

The ice-hockey player [Levi Johnston] wrote on his MySpace page he was a “f****** redneck” and stated, “I don’t want kids.” But a McCain insider predicted he would marry Bristol whenever his future mother-in-law wanted. “It’s a shotgun wedding. She kills things,” the source joked.

As for the Biden/Palin debate:

McCain officials believe that Palin’s underdog status gives her a chance to shine. “Joe Biden is going to have to destroy her for it to be perceived as a victory for him,” said an aide.
Hence, my hesitance to assume she'll bomb.
