Monica Crowley and Mika Brzezinski: Pole Dancing with the Stars?

I'm not even sure what to say about this except that their, er, pole numbers (among other things) would sure rise:

Last week Ed Norwick, general manager of SCORES, offered Mika Brzezinski $10,000 -- to be given to a children's charity -- to try out at Scores West. Norwick was on the show to discuss the much-discussed Miley Cyrus pole dancing routine at the Teen Choice Awards. Brzezinski, a suburban mother, said no. Joe Scarborough has pressed the issue, saying that it would be "for the children."

This morning former Nixon foreign policy aide [and MSNBC show host] Monica Crowley appeared on the Scarborough radio show and made an offer. If Mika Brzezinski took up the challenge, she agreed to "work the pole" with the MSNBC host.

Maybe Mika would be better at this than... never mind.

At least she'd get a bump (and grind) in the ratings.

In a letter to the The New York Times, published in the A section of today's paper, MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski defends her co-host Joe Scarborough while describing herself as a "liberal."

My television and radio co-host has spent the last five years being equally tough on Republican and Democratic leaders in Washington. Joe was one of the first TV reporters to criticize the Bush White House during Hurricane Katrina. And while others were writing of a permanent Republican majority, Joe was predicting the collapse of the G.O.P. because of its reckless economic policies.

Joe's evenhanded approach angers harsh ideologues on both sides. Last week, he was attacked by right-wing hosts for being too open-minded, and now by your liberal editorial page.

This liberal thinks The New York Times should follow Joe Scarborough's example of speaking truth to power - regardless of which party is in power.

Joe Scarborough: Constipated or Drunk?

This showed up on TV Newser because of the mention of MSNBC from the White House staffer (they seem to think it's a secret cabal shout out), but it makes sense with Joe & Mika introducing the guy. What really freaks me out is Joe looks really weird. Constipated or drunk, not sure.

February Ratings: MSNBC's Best February Yet

Yeah MSNBC!!! Don't understand the Morning Joe rating (I don't watch anymore and I don't see that reflected). Look at these numbers!

In weekday prime time (8-11pmET M-F), MSNBC was up 31% in Total Viewers and up 4% in the A25-54 demo. In total day (6a-6a), MSNBC was up 17% in Total Viewers and up 7% in the demo.

"Morning Joe" continues to be the fastest growing morning cable news show — up 74% in the demo and up 41% in Total Viewers.

In prime time, Countdown with Keith Olbermann is up 32% in Total Viewers and up 15% in the demo. (Olbermann had a 44% advantage in the demo/29% advantage in Total Viewers over CNN's "Campbell Brown: No Bias, No Bull.") At 9pmET, "The Rachel Maddow Show" is up 115% in the demo and up 127% in Total Viewers.

"1600 Pennsylvania Avenue" was up 31 percent in A25-54 (157,000 vs. 120,000) and up 49 percent in total viewers (571,000 vs. 383,000) vs. Feb. 2008, and was the fastest growing cable news show in the hour.(ed note- YEAH SHUSTER!)
