MSNBC pulls Donny Deutsch

By GottaLaff

This makes me miss David Shuster even more.

Brian Stelter, who seems to have gotten some bad information (see below):

A week-long anchoring stint on MSNBC by Donny Deutsch ended abruptly on Wednesday, and four people briefed on the decision said the cancellation stemmed from an unflattering mention of that channel’s No. 1 anchor, Keith Olbermann, a day earlier.

Mr. Deutsch had labeled his hour on MSNBC “America the Angry,” and Mr. Olbermann was shown briefly in a series of clips of media bloviators during a segment that pondered what role the media plays in fomenting the public’s anger. The four people briefed on MSNBC’s decision said Mr. Olbermann’s anger about the segment prompted the cancellation of the weeklong “America the Angry” series.

But Keith had a thing or two to add:

In an e-mail message, Mr. Olbermann said “Your account is entirely untrue. Your e-mail is the first I am hearing of any of this. What I know of what happened is this: Phil Griffin phoned me yesterday enraged at what was on that show and I didn’t disagree with him.”

The segment in question also included clips of Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, and Glenn Beck. One of the guests, the radio host Hugh Hewitt, said that Mr. Olbermann and another MSNBC host, Ed Schultz, are “the biggest hate-mongers in television.”

I saw that segment. I turned the sound off.

Keith tweeted the above e-mail message, and this:

I can't say I'm unhappy about his leaving. His executive producer is out, too, by the way.

Here's hopes they find someone we can get behind.

Donny Deutsch to Anchor on MSNBC

Gaw. Deutsch just makes me grind my teeth ever since he bought off Mika's anger with a pair of expensive shoes and she gushed like an imbecile. Lord, I'm going to have to really start trying to appreciate talk radio... Or hope Shuster gets his CNN show soon.

Former CNBC host Donny Deutsch will be anchoring the 3pmET hour next week on MSNBC. Since David Shuster's suspension earlier this month MSNBC has had a revolving door of anchors at both 10amET and 3pmET and next week, Deutsch gets the slot.

Deutsch's CNBC show "The Big Idea" was shelved in Dec. 2008. He's been appearing as a guest on MSNBC since.

Video- Donny Deutsch Pins Michael Steele Down About Reid's Slavery Analogy

I love how Steele babbles on about Reid being out of touch. Granted, I think Reid should just stay away from the stupid analogies, but both Reid and Deutsch have a point and Steele just wants to clutch his pearls.

Someone please shut Donny Deutsch up

The past 40 minutes on MSNBC has been unbearable. Above video is from yesterday, today is worse.

Gov Sanford Shrugs His Shoulders At Specter Of Overcrowded Schools

I heard most of this earlier and was pretty shocked with how Scarborough shut down Deutsch's questioning of Sanford. I mean, really Joe? Think Progress has more.

DEUTSCH: Ideology is all great, but let’s pretend I’m a dad and I’m living in South Carolina. A lot of that money is earmarked for education. If you don’t take that money because of your point of view and my kid — there are less teachers, the tuition for the state schools go up, and education is really affected — this is not just in theory, this is reality. What do you say to me as a dad that I’m worried about my kid in a state that has very poor education records?

SANFORD: Yeah, but here’s the bottom line. What this tug of war is really about is reform within South Carolina. … It’s only in these kind of economic times that you can make the changes that are essential, frankly, to South Carolina being more competitive. So our view is, no, we could make some changes that created the dollars that could then be allocated to education and other things.

IOW, screw the kids, I'm running for President. Notice he never answered the question.

Donny Deutsch: ‘I want [Palin] laying next to me in bed.’

By GottaLaff

Sexist much, Donny?

DEUTSCH: There is the new creation that the feminist woman has not figured out in 40 years of the feminist ideal that men can take in a woman in power and women can celebrate a woman in power. Hillary Clinton didn’t figure it out. She didn’t put a skirt on! […]

She [Palin] talked about energy. Didn’t matter! Today everybody’s running in circles — we want to have her over for dinner. I trust her. I want her watching my kids. I want her laying next to me in bed. That’s the way people vote.

And isnt' that what we all look for in someone who is next in line should a 72-year-old president die, who would control our nuclear arsenal, who would have to be taken seriously by friendly and unfriendly world leaders?

I'm relieved the Republicans have their priorities straight. For a split second, I thought they were seeing the vice presidency in only superficial terms, like wolf-hunting and hockey-momming.
