I was close with the son of the man, Earle Hagen, who wrote the theme song for the Andy Griffith Show (it's playing in the background). I always felt oddly close to Ronnie Howard for that reason. Now I have a much better reason to feel that way.
Fun Fact: I do have a reason to feel "close" to Henry Winkler. Back when I was starting my acting career, I took a class from Jerry Paris, at which Henry was a guest speaker. Jerry, who was directing Happy Days, took a liking to me and gave me exclusive access to the Happy Days rehearsals (probably because I fawned over him, being that he directed/acted in The Dick Van Dyke Show, which I adored). Anyway, Henry was the only cast member to approach me. And by approach, I mean walk up to me, twirl my hair slowly with one finger, and ask me all about myself as I gazed into his Fonzie eyes in awe.
I barely survived. Pant, pant. Those were the (happy) days.
