John Sidney McCain's tone deaf problem

Yesterday I posted twice about J Sid's "not disagreeing" that a military draft would be spiffy: once here, including a video of the Q & A, and once here, where Marc Ambinder disputes the first one.

However, after watching Keith Olbermann on Countdown last night, I noticed that he pointed out that J Sid's campaign hadn't "disagreed" with the "not disagreeing", and MSNBC's Chuck Todd emphasized that any campaign would be all over this if they thought they had been misrepresented. J Sid's campaign response? Crickets.

Couple this with the wonderfully teed-up-by-McCain-himself mindbogglingly tone deaf comments that he lost track of the number of homes he owns, and you have a political gold mine.

You also have a candidate who is completely out of touch with the needs and concerns of voters. If the Obama campaign can relentlessly pound these points into America's psyche the way J Sid pounded on Reverend Wright, celebrity, elitism, and inexperience, we're well on our way to a big, yummy bounce.
