Muhammed Ali To Be At Democratic Convention

Heard it on Countdown earlier.

Howard Fineman- Well, I think it's interesting symbolism, Muhammed Ali who's a world wide figure of respect, and who knows McCain, and who never takes part in politics, very, very, very rarely- I think he's only ever been to one convention, has decided, that he called and said to the Obama staff, I want to come to this convention because it's going to be a historic night on on that night on Ivesco Field where you give your acceptance speech in front of 70k people, on the night of Martin Luther King's anniversary, I want to be there. So that will be a measure of sort of the global nature and the historic nature of what Obama will be doing on that night.

AWESOME, sad that such a beautiful warrior was silenced with debilitating disease.

he is of the generation that grew up when blacks were treated like 3rd class citizens, subhuman to even our beloved animals. Its truly beautifully for many of my parents generation and even older ones to witness this historic moment!

This is truly special. He rarely makes appearances, and has only made one at a convention (per Keith).

What a personality he had! And from what I've seen, still does.

Gotta, I can't wait to see Ali on the stage. He represents a much better time, though it was filled with many social ills. Ali's the bright beacon to so many of us 50 year olds and olders. Now he's a hero. McCain? A survivor. Big difference. D.
