Orders revoked on soldier who claims Obama not legally president

So the ass that's a fracking birther gets out of service? How does this happen?

A reserve soldier who said he should not have to go to Afghanistan because Barack Obama was never legally eligible to be the president has had his deployment orders revoked, the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reported Wednesday.

U.S. Army Maj. Stefan Frederick Cook will not report to MacDill Air Force Base in Florida for mobilization today as he was ordered, public affairs officer Lt. Col. Maria Quon told the Ledger-Enquirer. She said she could not say why Cook’s deportment orders were revoked.

You know there's gonna be another shoe dropping on this one.

The strangest part of this story: This guy is an individual mobilization augmentee (not assigned to a permanent unit, he gets slotted in to others when there's an opening) who volunteered to serve a year in Afghanistan on May 8, 2009 . . . which I'm pretty sure is after Obama became the President.

Mental problems? I mean, other than the obvious.

The birthers have been looking for a test case for instigating a revolt of the military against the President. It appears that Major Cook was part of their plan. The Obama administration appears to be not interested in playing or in making him a martyr, so he is going to be quietly sent back home.

For the birthers: Have you seen George W. Bush's birth certificate? Have you seen George H.W. Bush's birth certificate? Have you seen Ronald Reagan's birth certificate? No? Well, here's Obama's birth certificate, which contains the exact same information as the ones I ordered from the State of Louisiana back in 2003 in order to get my passport so I could visit Germany. This is proof of citizenship for any person with half a brain who has a recent copy of their birth certificate (from after the post-2001 reforms that computerized all birth records -- you no longer get a photocopy of the original, now you get the computer printout with the certification). The U.S. Department of State accepts this as proof of citizenship, as does the DMV of every state in America. Talk about cretins...

I guess this is the first step of the court martial process. Maj. Cook's about to go to jail. . .

My bet - no. His volunteering is being rescinded since obviously he didn't *really* volunteer, he was just engaging in a publicity stunt for the birthers. While that is conduct unbecoming an officer, creating a martyr is unlikely to be something the Obama administration is interested in at this point.

But I could be wrong. And if wrong, a court martial and dishonorable discharge with complete loss of pension and VA benefits couldn't happen to a better man :).

BadTux, once you "volunteer" in this manner, it's my understanding that you cannot undo it. In other areas where a court martial was called for due to misbehavior by a service member and deployment was still pending, and order was issued to rescind said deployment so that the serviceman could be investigated and charged.

The Army can decide to "un-volunteer" you at any time though, officers serve at the pleasure of the Army. And yes, I am quite aware of how this works out in reality. A friend refused deployment claiming a health problem that he'd had for years and which had not interfered with previous deployments, and was quietly eased out with a general discharge rather than have a court martial that could have embarrassed his commanders. It depends on whether the system wishes to send a message or not as to whether the court martial will happen. My bet is that Major Wingtard is not the test case the administration wants, and will be quietly eased out like my friend. But I won't be unhappy if I'm wrong, Major Wingtard deserves everything he will get from a court martial.

His orders have been rescinded because they are going to court-martial his happy ass faster than you can say "Leavenworth."

I have no problem with this. I just want to know what time Sparky needs to show up tomorrow morning and every morning hence to begin his "picking-the-peanuts-and-corn-out-of-the-shit-of-REAL-soldiers" latrine detail that he'll inevitably be assigned to by the aforementioned real soldiers who risk their lives each and every day to keep us safe NO MATTER WHAT. I'd rather take my chances with the Taliban than put myself at the mercy of my fellow soldiers who don't respect me and think I'm a pussy. Military Justice: It's a bitch...

The good news is Major Cook has been fired from his DoD job.
