Dear god! Help! He-e-e-elp! The Socialist Commie Democrat Evildoers are trying to kill us! G-A-A-A!

Interviewed by the Washington Times, Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) was asked if “government-run health care” will “end up killing more people than it saves?” Coburn responded, “Absolutely.”A couple of right-wing congressman voiced similar doom-and-gloom rhetoric on the House floor yesterday:
Rep. Steve King (R-IA): “They’re going to save money by rationing care, getting you in a long line. Places like Canada, United Kingdom, and Europe. People die when they’re in line.”
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX): “One in five people have to die because they went to socialized medicine! … I would hate to think that among five women, one of ‘em is gonna die because we go to socialized care.”
That's right, folks, improving health care will kill you. Hmm? What's that? Hang on, something's coming through my imaginary earpiece:
[A]s the chart below shows, the U.S. spends the most per person on health care, but actually has worst life expectancies than many countries which spend less:

Compared with Australia, Canada, Germany, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom, the United States ranks last in all dimensions of a high performance health system: quality, access, efficiency, equity, and healthy lives. The United States currently ranks 50th out of 224 nations in life expectancy, with an average life span of 78.1 years, according to 2009 estimates from the CIA World Factbook.Ogeez, I just read that last part!

I have to laugh when they sprout out these statistics and they never can tell you where they got their information supporting their suppositions. It's as if they pull these ridiculous statistics out of their asses. Is that why republicans have and are such large assholes?
I think You're onto something there kimbutgar.
I think some people are idiots, thats just life, but what is sad is that more people believe, elect and trust thoses idiots.
This is an exemplary case of evil political opposition.
Poor people are more likely to die from treatable medical problems in the USA, the world's most advanced society since 1939, than they are in Cuba, one of the western hemisphere's least developed societies. It's all very well for the GOP to invoke the inviolability of this or that article of your constitution, the primary right of all citizens of every country is the most basic one: to live in good health.
Until the GOP leaders get the inadequate body matter we shall politely call their brains round that one, the rest, truly the rest, the whole darn rest, is utterly, pathetically irrelevant. And so are they.
Rationed care? Waiting in lines?
HELL...we already have that! Good grief, the insurance companies dole out what they want as it is.
I personally went to get some blood drawn today...waited 1 1/2 hours (!!!) at a Lab Corp office in the Los Angeles area...sounds like a line to me.
AND, I've moved my 88 year old Mom in with me (from another state)...we had to get all new doctors and specialists. We spend HOURS waiting because the offices have overbooked patients. Sounds like a line to me!
OK...lastly...her new medicare/insurance plan will not cover some meds that she had taken (out of state) for years. Why? This company hasn't struck cool deals with some of the manufactures so...no coverage! Seems pretty rationed to me!
I'm also looking at losing my health insurance in about 1 year...I'll be 55 and talk about scared!
I am so sick and tired of those that have FABULOUS healthcare coverage telling the rest of us that we CAN'T have coverage.
GRRRR!
How many congressmen refuse their health care?
Health care is either to good and will crush competition or is so bad no one will want it so they will die. Pretty nice to claim both depending on circumstance or audience.
The US health system is not run for the benefit of the patient or the doctors, it is a for-profit system run for the benefit of the insurance companies and the pharmaceutical companies and their shareholders. That's the real problem of the current system, it just cost an ridiculous amount of money. The Obama health care plan is a drastic change, but it's needed badly. And whoever opposes this plan is obviously a part of the profit making giant that the current system is.
Take care, Lorne
