Interesting Georgia Poll Results

Not totally discouraging.

A new SurveyUSA poll in Georgia finds Sen. John McCain ahead of Sen. Barack Obama by eight points, 51% to 43%.

Interesting: "Early and absentee voting began in Georgia on 09/22/08. Among the 18% of Georgia voters who tell SurveyUSA they have already voted, Obama leads by 6 points; among those who have not yet voted, McCain leads by 11."

Hey, that sign is about 50 minutes from my house...if that's the sign on the GA/SC line, of course.

Yeah! GA too, huh? Man, I hate being in SC.

I live in GA. There is quiet support for Obama here. There are no yard signs for either candidate in my city. But all the tee shirts I see are supporting Obama. I wear my shirt and my son's two shirts every chance I get. People ask me if our man is going all the way. I say, of course he is. :).

It feels kind of subdued here. I think though that there will be dancing in the streets in some neighborhods when Obama wins.

Hey, Lucy, I'm in Greenville, SC. I know the ground games in both SC and GA are very strong and DO seem to be flying below the radar of the media too. NC has a great ground game, but it's not nearly as quiet there as it is in SC and GA. I keep telling people there will be a big surprise in the southeast this year. I just don't know where it will occur.

I read some really interesting poll analysis on GA a while back. The basics came down to this: they're all pretty bad at estimating the Black turnout. If A-A turnout increases just two points higher than 2004, then Obama could squeak by there.

I'm pretty sure nobody's accurately tracking the rural counties here in Georgia. Quite a few of them have predominantly black populations, as do many of the larger cities.

My county is about 50/50 but counties East of me are like 80-90%AA. There is great hope.
