Many Hollywood heavyweights who had supported Hillary Clinton are rallying behind Barack Obama, pledging money and star power to his U.S. presidential bid before a big fundraiser next week.What this means is an influx of cash, but not necessarily an influx of voters. Some people think the star treatment is a turn-off. However, what Obama may lack in starstruck voters, he gains in big Tinseltown donations:Experts say that since Clinton conceded defeat this month after a grueling Democratic nominating contest, celebrities have quickly united behind Obama.
But Los Angeles is a town where stars wield a great deal of power and have money to spend, and numerous celebrities are expected to turn out at a Tuesday fundraiser featuring the singer Seal -- at a cost of $2,300 per ticket.Obama can count on support from Oprah Winfrey, Robert De Niro, Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson and Halle Berry, Jessica Alba, John Leguizamo of "The Happening", George Lopez, Steven Spielberg, David Geffen, and Jeffrey Katzenberg, to name a few.
He could start his own guild... and the members would probably get a better deal than Mr. Laffy did.
