Liveblog: McClellan, Part 3

By GottaLaff

UPDATE: FISA PASSED.
UPDATE: THE HEARINGS ARE NOW ON CPSAN 2.

Robert Wexler: How and why Libby revealed Plame's identity... MY CSPAN JUST DIED... it's going in and out.... Back...

Scott: Libby could have heard it from Cheney.

Wexler: Cheney's own hand betrays him... and Libby and implicates Bush. These facts are more than enough to open up impeachment hearings. Thank you for exposing SOME of the lies propegatedby this White House, but others have been blocking access to the truth. We need to get Rove and Card in here. You are the first high official to come before this Congress... thank you.

Scott: It's important for the American people to have the truth.

Bob Goodlatte: Were you fired? Were you upset?

Scott: I had natural initial reactions, but I understood. ... I was disillusioned about the NIE being released. .. I am not angry with Josh Bolten.

Bob: How many TV shows have you been on? Dozens? I don't believe there's anything enlightening to be gained from your testimony... different from the Scott we knew. Your credibility is in doubt.

Scott: Nobody's challenging the themes, just personally attacking me.

Bob: You should have raised these allegations at the White House.

Next: Linda Sanchez:

Linda: Firing all 93 of U.S. Attorneys originated with Rove, to pressure and intimidate Patrick Fitzgerald. Rove had already been before the Grand Jury, correct?

Scott: I don't know the timing. I had already left.

Linda: Bush said anyone who leaked would be dismissed. In 2004, he reiterated that. But in 2005, he raised the bar.

Scott: Revelations of Rove's involvement made him change the threshold. ... If he had adhered to his word, Rove would have been fired, and should have been.

Linda: Was Libby involved in getting you to vouch for him?

Scott: Yes. Card wanted me to exonerate Libby, and I'm sure Libby talked to Cheney about that. Plus, he wrote out talking points for me, which I never saw.

Linda: War campaign was in 2002, but Bush decided to attack earlier. 9/11 was the opportunity... When did he decide to wage war?

Scott: He governed from the gut... he told Woodward that it was late November, and December that he set the course. Bush makes the policy decisions, and expects everyone to implement them... his motivation? Was idealistic vision that he could transform the Middle East to a democratic region.
