Palin Gets $100K for Magazine Photo

Via Taegan and Gryphen we see how Barbie McLipSchmutz finally quit worrying (yes, yet another thing she quit) about exploiting her kids. Whew! For a minute there, I was worried about all of Babzie's worrying, which was becoming quite worrisome.

How nice for her that she and her daughter can relax and revel in their brand spankin' fat new bank statements:

Sarah Palin and her daughter, Bristol, "earned an eye-popping $100,000 for their new In Touch Weekly cover, "the New York Post reports.

"For just eight hours' work at her own home, Palin pocketed nearly as much as her $125,000-a-year salary as Alaska governor. It seems her decision to quit her political role is making big financial sense. Palin also reportedly earns $100,000 per public-speaking engagement, while she has a multiyear deal as a Fox News Channel analyst. Reps for the magazine and Palin refused to comment on the deal."

Tripp, Trigg, Trak, Truck, Trek, Drek, Heck. They're all just one big happy family living off of their Paris Hiltonesque fame.

All Bristol had to do was give birth and stand next to her mom at conventions and such.

All Barbie had to do was talk about Bristol giving birth, speak in tongues, fail at potential Veepitude, acquire an odd accent that doesn't represent Alaska, talk about her lipstick, forget O'Biden's real last name, incite hatred, have her ghost writer write, and then charge a whole bunch of money for talking incessantly about all of that and other stuff.

The family that exploits together is maladroit together.

Miller said it was 9/11 that changed him. Did it make him sexist too?

But Miller’s hypocritical comments and Palin’s lack of concern with them, give weight to those who argue that Palin and her conservative followers have a selective perception of social bias.

And the media will give them both a pass on this.

Palin "Running Shorts" Photographer Breached Contract

That photo has caused quite a stir. Here's one more:

Daily Finance reports that the photographer who shot the controversial picture of Sarah Palin in running shorts for Runner's World magazine, violated his contract by reselling them to Newsweek for use on this week's cover.

A spokeswoman for the magazine confirms that the contract "contained a clause stipulating that his photos of Palin would be under embargo for a period of one year following publication -- meaning until August 2010."

Michelle Obama: Glamour cover girl

Yes, the First Lady is beautiful, but this is about so much more. That's why this, and she, are so very cool:

President Beefcake? "Pec-tacular?" D.C. magazine to feature shirtless Obama

Obama? Topless? Gasp! What will the righties say? "Weak" sure won't work... not this time:

In the throes of an economic crisis and two wars, does the nation want more headlines about a "Pec-tacular" “Buff Bam”?

President Obama appears shirtless in a bathing suit on the cover of May issue of The Washingtonian magazine. The magazine's excuse? The pec pic illustrates the #2 reason (out of 26) to love living in the nation’s capital: “Our New Neighbor is Hot.” [...]

Garrett Graff, editor-at-large at The Washingtonian, told ABC News the idea for the cover came during a discussion among the magazine’s staff about how, with the arrival of the Obamas, came a “celebrity aspect that has brought energy to the city and the attention of the paparazzi.”

“The Obamas are the center of attention here and the whole world is looking to Washington now in a way we haven’t seen in years,” Graff said, calling it “a real golden age of Washington.” [...]

“It’s a unique time in Washington and this photo helps capture all of the reasons why,” Graff said. “It’s not a normal way to look at a president of the United States but this is not a normal president.”

Graff said the magazine used the photo to illustrate two things: first, the president himself is hot – “you have a buff president and the paparazzi like taking shirtless photos of him,” Graff said – and second, the Obamas’ presence in Washington is “really hot.”

Hot and hotter. Do go on, I'm all ears... and eyes. Oh, and can someone please splash me with some cold water:

Graff said the magazine did not check with the White House before publishing and has not heard anything in response, but noted that the magazine does not hit newsstands until Wednesday. [...]

Obama has been captured shirtless before – from previous Hawaii vacations – and television networks, including ABC News, showed those images on-air during the presidential campaign.

Media critics, who have attacked reporters for coverage of the president’s dog, Bo, and the first lady’s penchant for wearing sleeveless dresses, now have more fodder for the week.

I don't have a doubt in my mind that they'll have a field day. So will we, but for different reasons... wink. But you know how the Rushpublics hate Prez O's popularity. If that cover doesn't raise a few... er, poll numbers, I don't know what will.

Somehow I think President Obama can handle the, um, heat, as long as he doesn't make the egregious mistake of smiling at anyone else. He might not be able to talk America down from another unpalatable, unpatriotic, Marxist act like that.

But appearing shirtless again? Pfft. Piece-o'-cheesecake.

Michelle and mom in Essence Magazine

This picture made me seriously verklempt.

Add another to Michelle Obama’s growing stack of magazine spreads. In the May issue of Essence, first grandmother Marian Robinson gets into the act, too, joining her daughter for a joint interview and cover shoot for the Mother’s Day issue.

Interviewed in the first lady’s East Wing office at about a month after the Inauguration, the mother-daughter team discuss family, life in the White House and the importance of good role models. Robinson, 71, says her role model is her daughter:

“Michelle has always been Michelle. And she has always accomplished whatever it was she set out to accomplish,” Robinson says in the interview, which is not yet posted online. "I have always looked up to Michelle because she has been able to do things that I couldn’t do emotionally, psychologically or physically. I think she is amazing.”

Obama said of her mother: “She made me who I am.”

And yes, this is what they talked about on Larry King for a good 10 minutes just now. It's an actual controversy. Newsweek, per Andrea, "sharpened" the photo in order to make it look unflattering. She went on to say that they should do the same with Obama, and reveal his "razor burn and nose hairs".

No, I'm not kidding.
