Man fires shotgun when Census worker visits home

ST. MARIES, Idaho (AP) - A northern Idaho man who police say fired his shotgun near a U.S. census worker who was trying to deliver a census form has been cited for exhibition of a deadly weapon, a misdemeanor.

Fifty-4-year-old Richard L. Powell of St. Maries faces up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

The Benewah County Prosecutor's office says that on March 3 Powell told the census worker to get off his property and then fired a shotgun into the air.

I'm in topsy turvy world. Yesterday Virginia reinstated "Confederate History Month", the Utah GOP is trying to kill Utahans with AIDS and now this yahoo wants to criminalize sex ed teachers?

MAUSTON, Wis. - Juneau County's district attorney is warning school districts that sex education teachers could be charged with contributing to delinquency of a minor.

A new law takes effect this fall that requires schools with sex ed programs to teach children how to use condoms and other contraceptives.

DA Scott Southworth says the requirement encourages sex among minors, which is illegal. Southworth says it's like teaching children about alcohol use, then instructing them on how make a mixed drink.

Vatican spokesman says woman jumped barriers and knocked down pope at Christmas Eve Mass.

Oops. I hope she said, "Excuse me." Hopefully, nobody was injured.

UPDATE (h/t: Winthorpe):

The Rev. Ciro Benedettini said the pope quickly got up and was unhurt. Benedict, 82, calmly resumed his walk to the basilica's main altar and began the Mass late Thursday.

Benedettini said the woman who pushed the pope appeared to be mentally unstable and had been arrested by Vatican police.

WASHINGTON -- A luxury Chrysler sedan President-elect Barack Obama drove before winning the White House is being auctioned off on eBay. Starting bid: $100,000.

Tim O'Boyle, the general manager of a restaurant in Hillside, Ill., is selling Obama's steel blue 2005 Chrysler 300C Hemi on the Internet auction site, hoping to cash in on history. The price is a cool $1 million under eBay's "Buy It Now" option.
