Poll-itics: Both Crist and McCain leading

Those Tea Baggers just can't seem to find a winning candidate.

First a peppering of McCain:

A new DailyKos/Research 2000 poll in Arizona finds Sen. John McCain (R) leading primary challenger J.D. Hayworth (R), 48% to 36%.

In general election match ups, McCain leads Rodney Glassman (D). 48% to 35%. If Hayworth is the GOP nominee, he just edges Glassman, 43% to 42%.

Add a dash of Crist:

A new Mason Dixon poll in Florida finds Gov. Charlie Crist (I) leading a three-way race for U.S. Senate with 38%, followed by Marco Rubio (R) at 32% and Rep. Kendrick Meek (D) at 19%.

Now a splash of sour:

Key finding: "More than half of Crist's supporters are Democrats, who overwhelmingly approve of his defection from the GOP and recent veto of a controversial teacher tenure bill."

Pollster Brad Coker thinks these numbers will change, unless the Dems somehow turn on Meek. It's about name recognition.

And there we have it: A recipe for 2010 election fun. Stir it up, shake like crazy, bring to a boil, and bam!

Reaction to signing of SB1070 Arizona:

Protesters who had camped out at the Arizona State Capitol for days in hopes of stopping what was billed as the toughest illegal law in the country reacted with boos and chants of "Shame on you" on Friday after the governor announced she was signing the legislation into law.

Welcome in the new era of the American Police State.

Oddly, the national media didn't inform us of one little tiny insignificant detail: A Very Special Hate Group's contribution to making SB1070 a reality:

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC commends Governor Brewer and the Arizona state assembly for the passage of SB 1070 into law as one of the toughest new tools to fight illegal immigration in America.

"The people of America have spoken and in the case of Arizona and SB 1070 the system is working," said William Gheen of ALIPAC. "We want to thank all of the American activists working with us, who helped to bring this law into being." [...]

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC's supporters called Arizona lawmakers in support of SB 1070 and activists are now moving to encourage state legislators in all remaining states to file and pass similar versions of Arizona's SB 1070.

See? They just want to "simply enforce our existing immigration laws!"

Racial profiling is alive and well in Arizona, and John Sidney McCain and J.D. Hayworth think that's just swell.

Governor Brewer says she wants "professional police standards." I'm sure those pulled over and asked for their papers because they're wearing the wrong shoes will find the officers highly professional and very respectful.

Seems as if Yelly McSpeechy's grating stumping and snide nastitude is paying off.

Paddy made a good point to me just now. If J Sid loses the primary, he's freed up to do all the talk shows. Alllll those endless talk shows.

Looks like one of JD Hayworth's Teabaggers ticked off Sarah's Teabaggers! It's so sad when Mommy and Daddy Teabagger argue. What to do, what to do...

MESA, AZ -- John McCain and Sarah Palin continued their reunion tour with a stop in Mesa Saturday, but the rally turned violent outside.

Palin implored Arizona to "send the maverick back to the United States Senate."

But just as Palin took the podium, hecklers began to disrupt the former Alaska governor.

Witnesses said one of the hecklers was pulled up by the hair by a McCain/Palin supporter.

As the man -- who said his name is Alex -- was taken out of the auditorium, he is seen in video being tackled by three men, one identified as a police officer in plain clothes, a man in a McCain T-shirt, and another man.

Witnesses say another protestor was also punched by someone in the crowd.

She just asked him about receiving money from Jack Abramoff. He denies getting much money, and that it was awhile ago. He had trouble remembering the name CREW, see, and it's their misinformation that's the problem, he says. Abramoff never "lobbied me directly".

He talked over Rachel. She would have none of that.

Rachel: "You're known as an Abramoff guy."

"Rachel.. Rachel... your researchers should have done a better job." Now he's attacking McCain. He's "correcting" Rachel. And attacking McCain: "He's unfit for service in the U.S. Senate."

Rachel: You had a bunch of fundraisers in Abramoff's sky boxes... starting in 1999. For free.

Ha! Now J.D. says she has a capable staff. Which is it?

J.D.: Once it was brought to my attention, we cleared it up. No charges were brought by the F.E.C.

Rachel: So McCain's earmarks were bad and your earmarks were good?

J.D. is rambling on and on and on.

J.D. Hayworth: Gay marriage opens doors to bestiality

John Sidney McCain's bigoted opponent equated same-sex marriage with bestiality on a Florida radio show.

J Sid is pro-Don't Ask Don't Tell. What a pair:

"You see, the Massachusetts Supreme Court, when it started this move toward same-sex marriage, actually defined marriage," Hayworth said. "Now get this, it defined marriage as simply, quote, 'the establishment of intimacy.' Now how dangerous is that? [...] I mean, I don't mean to be absurd about it..."

Too late.

... "But I guess I can make the point of absurdity with an absurd point. I guess that would mean if you really had affection for your horse, I guess you could marry your horse."

Hey J.D., if it's that absurd, you might have had the presence of mind to keep your big mouth shut... for once. No self-discipline: The sign of a trustworthy leader.

And how about not even thinking it? Equating same-sex marriage with marrying an animal? Really? You're going there?

I am appalled by the level of incivility and irrationality in this country. What has caused such a devolution? Why are we as a country tolerating this apparent downward spiral? What happened to us? We should be demanding better.

J D Hayworth makes it official, running against McCain

Gonna be some fun soundbites out of this one. (Video above gets good at about 1 minute in) We're going to be hearing that "common sense conservatism" b.s. alot in the coming year.

(CNN) – The Republican party's most recent presidential nominee has earned a primary challenge from the right on President's Day.

J.D. Hayworth, a former Arizona congressman and radio host, is scheduled to formally announce Monday that's he's challenging Republican John McCain for his U.S. Senate seat.

Though his intentions have been known for months, Hayworth will formally announce his candidacy during a rally at his new campaign office in Phoenix at 10 a.m. local time (noon ET). The event kicks off what is scheduled to be a three-day, 10-stop campaign swing through the state.

Hayworth, who served for six terms in the House before losing his 2006 re-election bid, stepped down last month as host of his conservative talk radio program in Phoenix. While he says he respects McCain's service, he says McCain's been in Washington too long and isn't conservative enough.

"We all love and think the world of John and John's place in history is secure," the 51-year old Hayworth told CNN correspondent Casey Wian on Friday. "But John no longer represents the common sense conservative philosophy that most Arizonans share."

Yesterday on Hardball, J.D. Hayworth defended Birthers.

Now a conservative writer points out that J.D. also defends Henry Ford who defended Nazis:

In his 2006 book, “Whatever It Takes: Illegal Immigration, Border Security, and the War on Terror,”, Hayworth wrote;

the ever-so-successful process that used to be called ‘Americanization’ was a major movement in the early 1900s … Henry Ford, a leader in this movement,

These men of many nations must be taught American ways, the English language, and the right way to live.’ Talk like that today and our liberal elites will brand you a cultural imperialist, or worse. But if you ask me, Ford had a better idea. [...]

What the former Congressman failed to mention was that ‘Ford’s idea’ was based on xenophobic and anti-Jewish beliefs. [...]

Hayworth also failed to mention that Ford was one of the German Nazi parties earliest foreign supporters. In Hitler, Ford saw an individual who was willing to adopt many of the same Americanization policies towards “Jewish bankers”, non-whites and immigrants in Germany and the axis occupied countries. [...]

I am not suggesting JD Hayworth is promoting Nazism in Arizona and America, (as I am sure the liberal media will have plenty to say about this if Hayworth were to win the nomination), but for the former Congressman not have not found a better example than Ford’s Americanization doctrine, when suggesting solutions for America’s cultural and security issues, should be troubling for all republicans.

Go away, JD Hayworth.
