Buddhism is inferior to Christianity when it comes to forgiveness of sins, according to Fox News pundit Brit Hume. Tiger Woods should turn his back on Buddhism and become a Christian to be forgiven for cheating on his wife, Hume told Fox News' Chris Wallace Sunday.

David Shuster tweets:

I respect everybody's faith, different from mine or not. But don't use a sunday news show to preach your faith. Analyze the news.

In the interest of fairness, that sunday show should make time for a member of Bhuddism given Brit's criticism of that religion.

David, David, David, have you forgotten? There is no room for fairness on ClusterFox.

As for news analysis, that's becoming an anachronism, having been replaced by polarizing shouting matches passed off as balanced discussions that give each side equal time.

Brit Hume falsely claims "everybody agrees ... that the New Deal failed"

Whew, good thing he was at the straight news anchor desk ladling out the "fair and balanced" all those years.

Brit Hume asserted on Your World that "the New Deal -- everybody agrees, I think, on both sides of the spectrum now, that the New Deal failed. The debate is over why it failed," later stating, "President [Franklin] Roosevelt waged what could only be called a jihad against private enterprise." In fact "everybody" doesn't "agree[]" that the New Deal failed; Nobel laureate Paul Krugman, among others, has said that Roosevelt did not go far enough to end the crisis and that his attempts to balance the budget hindered recovery.

So Hume "retires" from the chair of Fox evening news as the "impartial" anchor just to pop over a couple feet to sit on the panel as a non-partial pundit? Only on Fox.

Bret Baier to be Named Host of Fox's "Special Report"

Same damn thing as Hume except with a babyface.

Breaking: Fox News will name Bret Baier as the new anchor of "Special Report," TVNewser has learned.

Baier becomes anchor of the show after the New Year. He had been Brit Hume's primary fill-in. Hume's final "Special Report" airs tonight at 6pmET.

On the December 17 edition of Fox News' Special Report, Fox News chief White House correspondent Bret Baier aired an interview he conducted with President Bush, in which he asked Bush: "Do you believe that there hasn't been a terrorist attack on U.S. soil in more than seven years because of the policies your administration has implemented?"

Baier's question tracked a talking point that the Los Angeles Times reported was in a "two-page memo" that was sent by the White House "to Cabinet members and other high-ranking officials" and that "offers a guide for discussing Bush's eight-year tenure during their public speeches."

John McCain (R-AZ) “did drive a Corvette and date a girl who worked in a bar as an exotic dancer under the name of Marie, the Flame of Florida.” Thompson said this experience helped him “survive” his POW experience. Fox’s Bill Kristol and Brit Hume laughed conspiratorially at the idea of dating a stripper.

Brit Hume stepping down

Brit Hume, a top anchor and executive with Fox News since the channel was launched 12 years ago, plans to step down at year's end. But he won't disappear entirely.

Sources familiar with the situation say that Hume, 65, will give up his job as Washington managing editor and anchor of "Special Report." They say he is near a deal to continue with Fox in a senior statesman role, not unlike that of Tom Brokaw at NBC, for roughly 100 days a year.

In his new role, Hume would be a senior political analyst, anchor special events, serve as a panelist on "Fox News Sunday" and occasionally substitute for the host, Chris Wallace.

I guess it's not as much fun to be Head Fox Guy when you have a Democrat in the White House.

Brit Hume questions Obama's Christianity

Obama needs to "Fight the Smears" even harder:

In fact, Obama does indeed have a “Muslim background,” but that in no way makes him a Muslim — a point he emphasized last year on the campaign trail when he was asked “to explain his Muslim heritage”:

“My father was from Kenya,” he said, “and a lot of people in his village were Muslim. He didn’t practice Islam. Truth is he wasn’t very religious. He met my mother. My mother was a Christian from Kansas, and they married and then divorced. I was raised by my mother. So, I’ve always been a Christian. The only connection I’ve had to Islam is that my grandfather on my father’s side came from that country. But I’ve never practiced Islam.”
