Trivial, but amusing. Wasn't McCain there at the time?
This morning on Fox News, Sen. John McCain tried to slam Sen. Joe Biden by saying at least Gov. Sarah Palin knows President Franklin Roosevelt "didn't talk to the American people over television."
While Biden wrongly said last week that FDR addressed the American people on television after the 1929 stock market crash, McCain is wrong that FDR didn't talk to the American people over television.
Roosevelt was the first president to appear on television when he spoke at the opening session of the New York World's Fair on April 30, 1939. The first presidential address from the White House was by President Harry Truman on Oct. 5, 1947.

I know you are, but what am I???
Um...Hello, paging ALL adults to Capitol Hill to run this country, ALL adults please report immediately...
This is why politicians should stop making so many historical references . . . or study more history. Christ, it hurts to hear them speak sometimes.
Top Five Historical Events Politicians Always Get Wrong:
1) The Founding Fathers - the level of insight on these men is on par with a child's picture book.
2) The Civil War - Especially true of southern politicians. It was about slavery. Can we quit kidding ourselves?
3) The Constitution - If I hear one more person say anything about how the Constitution was adopted so that it could "limit" government powers . . . I will scream. It replaced a weak, decentralized government with a strong, federal one. How does that constitute a limitation? And, how then do you explain the need for the Bill of Rights in order to make the creation of this stronger government more palatable?
4) Herbert Hoover was not evil. And, he was a progressive. He simply believed in limited government and was elected President at the wrong time for that to work. Can we just call him misguided?
5) Harry Truman was a simpleton and a jerk. He wasn't a terrible guy, but he wasn't anywhere near great, or even good. There's a reason FDR kept him in the dark on absolutely everything. He never should have been the VP, let alone President.
Speaking of history, Obama on MSNBC right now...
Hey Ady, sorry for missing the dancing last night. You were right though. I totally would have joined you. Hopefully there will be reason to dance tonight. I'm just itching for the debate.
I'm all dressed up (tie and all- I'm looking good) for this corporate bigwig that's visiting the office today- I feel like I'm waiting for a big date, though. Weird that it's with a televised event.
You're totally awesome, King. I love a man in a suit too...I get the first dance then?
Oh, and don't forget the champagne!
Has everybody seen this on McCain?
Needs to be spread around a bit, trust the Rolling Stone to again get the best of takes

I have a date with the same televised event...crazy folks, we are.
Of course you get the first dance.
Crazy? Definitely. But there should be more people like us. I think the ratings are going to be pretty high for this debate. I would love to see this kind of political interest become more than a passing trend. Hopefully this election will open peoples' eyes to how exciting (and important) being polically aware can be.
Thanks for the dance. Now I'm trying to figure out the drinking game...
Biden will say "Ladies and Gentlemen" quite a bit...
hmm... I don't think Biden will be saying "ladies and gentlemen." He'll mostly be talking to the moderator.
The drinking game for this debate is going to be more challenging than the last. I got kinda tanked from picking the words POW, Surge, and conditions on the ground. Oh yeah, "victory" and "dis/honor", too.
Paddy, Clancy- A little help maybe?
