Poll: Obama Leads in New Hampshire

Wasn't New Hampshire supposed to be one of McCain's bulwark states because of all the time he has spent there in the two presidential campaigns?

A new Saint Anselm College poll shows Sen. Barack Obama way ahead of Sen. John McCain in New Hampshire, 49% to 37% with 11% still undecided.

Interesting: "Among those who say they will vote for Obama, 41% said McCain's chose of Sarah Palin as his running mate influenced their decision a lot or some."

Update: A new Rasmussen poll also has Obama with a double-digit lead, 53% to 43%.

Why does America hate John McCain?

Because he hates US. He hates being part of a group. That is what mavericks do.

So fun to watch McCain destroy his chances of winning. He set up his own gotcha by picking Miss You Betcha.

(the best of many big mistakes)

Obama = best campaign ever

McCain = weirdest impression of a campaign ever

Good commentary from Matt Yglesias about the disconnect between the pundits and the people on the debate last night:

"Watching the mismatch between the complicated and mildly pro-Palin sentiments of the pundits on television and the poll results — people thought Biden was better — is interesting. It’s almost as if ordinary people don’t grade these things on a complicated “expectations” curve. When someone shows up and seems slightly dimwitted they don’t think to themselves “well, she’s not quite as dumb as I thought — what a triumph!” They think, “wow, she seems slightly dimwitted.”

UPDATE: Commenter younglady says:

Punits assume the average vote is dumber than we really are. They assume we’ll be taken in by her folksiness and winks, but we’ve learned a lesson from the last 8 years, a president with down home folksiness and charm without intellectual heft is dangerous for the America.

Or perhaps it’s just that the pundits aren’t as smart as they think."

Clancy, I meant to catch ya down thread...I woke up to that horrible Morning Joke show, and yes, it will be great to watch all these pundits flail around when Obama puts a hurtin' on McCain on Nov. 4th...

New Hampshire not so enthusiastic about the mavericky Maverick ticket? Hmmmm. I thought that was supposed to be McCain country.

Great news!

Pundits and media want to keep this thing going a little longer so they will say some positive things about Palin performance last night. Palin's 15 minutes are almost up. Since she will not go in front of the media any more I believe she has just become a nonfactor. On the other hand, I of course think that now that she has proven that she can stand on stage with Biden the press should go after her even harder.

Oh, also the grouchy Conservative Republican male in my house wandered in this morning while the Today Show was showing clips of the debate. I asked him if Sarah "did anything for him since all the Conservative men on teevee really seem to like her." He laughed and said, "Shit, she might if she wasn't so dense, but she's a disaster and has no business any where near the VP slot. That's too scary to even contemplate"

So, there's one Conservative who's very afraid of Palin.

Palin will ultimately come across as both dumb and mean.

Kinda wondering when we're going to see RNC abandon the Pres campaign and start working on retaining a couple of Congressional seats and local/state runs. They must realize that McCain doesn't have the ability to lead any of the races over to their side.

I don't know, MSS. They are desparate to retain the WH. Maybe they'll concentrate on the down-ticket slots, and just steal the presidency?

How are you feeling this morning Ady? Looks like you didn't sleep much.

I understand though. You had to get up early to see all the great reviews about Biden's performance.

Everyone is loving Joe today, for good reason. He was perfect last night. He was so prepared for this debate, ready for what they knew Palin would throw at them.

It's too bad that you can only see that the Obama campaign is a step ahead of McCain's while the event is happening. I wonder how many steps ahead they really are. It's gotta be more than one.

Joe Biden was brilliant and you know why, because he could have actually played the debate out so many different ways. He could have been more aggressive, or could have less cerebral. It did not really matter. The onus was on Palin and she is one-dimensional. In fact starting to look like a cardboard cut out. All in all a pretty ”lame” perfomance from SLP last night.

Fiph, I'm trying to pour coffee down my throat, and make some sense of some of the idiots on the teevee. I never really sleep, so that's nothing new...You betchya, bless our hearts, it's gonna be a great day.

Joe is my new hero--I want him to adopt me. How are you?

I feel great. Other than sleep deprivation, I pretty much always do.

Joe is my new hero, too. That man is too smart. How can anyone not respect someone so blazingly intelligent and well intentioned?

Quite a smile on that man, too.

Ady, sorry I missed you. I check out from time to time to do a little writing.

Don't watch Morning Joe. It only encourages MSNBC to keep him around. I keep telling Paddy she should watch something else, but deep down, I think she's a masochist.

Fiph, I can't keep up with ya today...I'm goin' up thread and then down thread and then...where am I again?

Clancy, no problem...you're sweet. I just wanted to cry when I heard that dumb man this morning. I shan't make that mistake twice.
